A CO marked my TB as missing ...I was sent a email.

I figure once the TB is out there I really do not have controll over it. Do as you will I am just glad it is moving and not MIA. Most of my bugs are my kids and they like to hear that their bug was in such and such location and look at it in the map. It is a bit of a geography lesson for them. My kids are adopted and this makes the world a little more than where they are right now. Thanks for moving TB's !!!!!!

OPPS I am in a different race.

That is a really neat TB!!! I am still working in getting the family's togther.

I also have a lot of DNF loggen in a little notebook I keep. I still try when ever I am in the area. My biggest DNF issues are my little ones who seem to have to go to the bathroom just as we get to GZ. AHHHH. Also you can look for evidence of cachers before you..we all leave traces behind us.

Here is the situation ...My TB is in Iceland it was left there by a person that took it from a cache in Canada but when taking it he listed it as discovered not taken.....so now the Panda went to Iceland and has been taken by another cacher and is ready to be moved. The cacher who has it contacted me to tell me of the situation. He already emailed the cacher twice and has had no responce. Can someone tell us what to do at this point?

I found a TB that was in a cache and was not logged. So I did about the same thing as you described, and wrote the owner and explained what happened. I did ot know how to correct it any other way. I would be intrested in hearing others responces.

You know with kids the parking lot/lightpole/micro gives them instant reward. They feel like they accomplish someting. Once in awhile they will want "a big one with toys" fix and we go after that. Oh and we sign all the logs just because the kids think it lets other people know we were there. So different strokes for different folks...don't sweat the small stuff and in a agame it is all small stuff.

Wow Sounds like a neat twist to the game. Looks like you have to pay to join though. I hope it comes across the pond for me to try out.

I only have been Geocaching this year, I bought a GC and I really like it. It was probally the cheapest paperless GPS on the market. I feel it is accurate. I met up with some of my areas big geocachers at a new cache that we were all looking for togther. I compaired signals with their units and mine was getting the same readings as theirs. I guess I do not know enough to say what I wish mine had so I am satifed. I also bought 2 Geomate Jr. for the kids and have yet to use them. (still need to work on understanding them) Good Luck in what ever you decide.

Now I collect coins and would be thrilled if my kids chose the penny. Alot of times now my kids seldom find something they want. I carry extra swag to help fill up a cache that is low. My daughter thinks to pick a TB is her prize and she gets to move it along as her gift. I do not know how she thought of this idea but it makes both her and me happy and a Travel Bug gets moved. And Off we go

I bought 2 last month of the Garage Sale section here. I also looked for a used update kit for about a month (both here and e bay) ...never found one and had to buy a new one. Good luck I hope you find one.

I have the GC and really like it I think it would be a good choice. I am not a computer wiz and I have figured out how to use it with some reading on line. I thought it was the Geomate Jr that they were selling really cheap. I bought 2 of them used for the kids and have not had time to sit down and play with them. You are suppose to be able to load your own caches.

No special guidelines for that. Just the usual. You may want to add the Wading Required attribute. I second that...As a caching parent I would like to decide in advance if my kids will be getting wet. But it sounds like a great Cache!!

I also have a GC...that said, when you are out caching remember the GPS will take some time getting and updating a signal. Also under the cover of trees sometimes you will loose a signal. Good Luck and most important have fun.

I believe that you paid the $9.99 for the download to your I phone. The preminum membership has some caches for just preminum members. Hope this helps.

I believe that the Geomate JR has caches from 09 in it. I just bought 2 used and I ordered the cable to update them. I also have the GC and have used it with my niece who uses her phone. I when searching only see a arrow and a line pointing to the cache. My niece view shows the trees roads ect. I hope this helps.

I am using the Magellan GC. It is decated to Geocaching, Some like it some do not as a beginner I find it just fine. I have seen them on the sale part of the posts for about $100.00 used/new. I also just purchased 2 used Geomate Jr for $70.00 for my kids. I am waiting for the update cable to see how they work. Oh yea I would like to have all the bell and whistles...touch screen, camera...bla bla bla....but I can wait to see if I really need it. Good luck on your choice.

MY travel bug experience is not all that much but...I sent off 5 from one cache as a family race. I printed up the goal of each and laminated it the paper and attached it to the chain. Some I have found have had this, others had nothing. One that was large had a goal to be near water, I did not know this when I took it. So several months later I retrieved it from the cache and took it back to the beach. My sons was to see places and maybe go around the world....we just got a email from the person who picked it up and it is now going to Europe.

I know there is a easier way but I enlarge the map and follow the route on the map. Then I click on the cache and add it from the map. That way I can pick ones not too far off my route. Have a great trip!!
