  1. I assume that you are downloading the file from each cache page, which would give you individual files for each cache. If you look at the search page there is a box that you can check for each cache and then there is a "download waypoints" button at the bottom of the page. This would limit the files to one per page of caches. Only other way to have the waypoints in one file would be to become a premium member and use pocket queries and/or bookmark lists.
  2. I belive that they are adding them as they are requested, so if you want a specifc one, ya just need to ask. (I can't find the thread Jeremy said this in at the moment) found it : Link
  3. I am reminded of a quote "the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few or the one" This is how most companies run there customer service. You have to balance what you can give. If only a few want something and to give it to them would cause issue with a greater majority then the few are left to work with what they have. I also am reminded of the hundred of customer service companies that pass that customer service on to the customer with higher prices. I am current quite comfortable with the price.
  4. Probably one of the dumbest comments I've seen in a long time. The truth can be hard to hear sometimes. There are many letterboxing sites, but it's not a very organized activity. Why? Because it's not innovative and because of that it didn't catch on like geocaching did. The geocaching.com website is amazing because of how innovative it is. Do you think Jeremy would have been able to create such a fantastic website without the support of the hordes of geocaching members throughout the world? On the other side of the coin, why do you think there is not a fantastic letterboxing website? (the answer is lack of innovation). Why am I dumb for noticing this CoyoteRed? Just because you enjoy letterboxing doesn't mean it doesn't lack innovation. The more 'COOL' 'INNOVATIVE' features that Jeremy adds to the website, the more attractive the 'SPORT' will become. Without the website, geocaching is no better than letterboxing. The idea that I can drop an ammo can in the woods and someone will find it THE SAME DAY speaks volumes. My sister is an active letterboxer and rarely gets emails when people find her letterbox and it can take months before someone finds it initially. Are you in management?? Has anyone else played buzz word bingo??? Back on topic: I think the system is just fine. It cool too see the high number, but I don't really think much of them.
  5. If you google "EMAIL ADDRESSES WITH APOSTROPHES" you find that they cause problems with some mail servers. So my suggestion would be to send an email to Groundspeak and see if they can do anything.
  6. My assumption is that the the format you have is dd.ddddddh, so you need to convert it 52.992057 - 52 = .992057*60 = 59.523 => hdd mm.mmm = N52 59.523 edit to add: Thinking of it more, I also assumed that the coordinates given were in WGS84, depending on where you got the coord. since they are in Ireland, they could be in another format.
  7. Here is another site you can try that I use: http://stevemorse.org/jcal/latlon.php Have fun Geocaching and hope this helped, IronmOn That's the one I was looking for, thanks
  8. I use this site Geocoder, but it only work for US addresses. I know there is a site that combines serveral different converters but can't find it right now.
  9. That can't be true. If it was then everybody would have to install a special serial port on there computer. The serial to USB adapters are just a converter and so any device that uses the standard serial port, will work with a the adapter.
  10. You might have her send you an email from that account and then look at the source code for the email. Somewhere in there it might reveil another form af the email address that you can use. Test it by sending here an email. I have seen this happen before and was able to find a alternate version of the email address.
  11. Since you are a premium member this can be done through a pocket query.
  12. So from what I can see you know how to mark a waypoint. IF you mark a waypoint and then use the toggle stick to highlight the coordinates of the waypoint and enter by pressing the toggle, you can edit the coordinates. Second, your current coordinates should be shown on the satilite screen at the bottom.
  13. Assume you meant: Cache #2 N42 48.721' W76 20.581' => 42.81202, -76.34302 Cache #3 => 42.81293, -76.334395 If the format is hdd mm.mmm then divide the mm.mmm by 60 and add to dd. North and East hemisphere are postive, West and South hemishere are negative.
  14. Not that it bothers me terrible, but I thought I would point it out in case is a sign that something else is wrong. The weekly cache notification are not rounding the distance in miles to the two decimal places that it normally does, is this something that has been change? oddly the kilometers are fine, is this a subtle hint to change to metric??
  15. The webpage for advanced search is simpler, using drop down menus to do do what the other search page laid out individually. However the advanced search page allows you to filter your search for a particular cache type, which the other search page does not.
  16. You can't send the gpx file directly to the Palm. There is a second program that comes with cachemate, cmconvert.exe If you run it on the PC and load the gpx file, select all the waypoints, and then convert to Pdb file (under the file menu) Then hotsync the file will be tranfered. This can also be done with GSAK. but this is the free way.
  17. Doesn't seem any different than google maps, except you have to enter the coordinates manually instead of just clicking the link off the cache page. Unless I missed something.
  18. Scroll down to the "Geocaching Groups by Region / State" section on the main forum page. Here is the one that covers VA :NORTHEAST FORUM
  19. I know this might sound like a simple solution, but it tripped me up the first time I saw it. Can you tap on the log date? This should bring down a menu to select other dates of other logs.
  20. What are you using to dowload them to the etrex? Normally they will come with the "GCXXXX" number as the description. As for the Shorthand, check out the pinned threads at the top of the getting started forums here
  21. I can't imagine there would be any more of a problem with a GPS than a PDA, computer, or digital camera. All of which I regularly take as carry on.
  22. An offset multi would be something like you go to the coordinates and then are told to go 40 feet at a 160 degree bearing. A regular multi would have another set of coordinates to go to. edit to add: there are other types of offsets, I just used that one as an example of the differeence
  23. Ok, not to be picky here, but the original context of muggle in Harry Potter is a non magical person, not a evil wizard. To stay on topic, Muggle => a non geocacher
  24. It should be pointed out that Cachemate can be used without have to pay for GSAK. The program comes with a free program that convert the waypoints to be hotsynced
  25. Judging from the caches and address you gave I live pretty close to you. I would be more than happy to setup a meeting to help you out. Let me know
