  1. Vespa's got logged, he submitted his just before mine. Mine is still there. I'll move it next weekend. I'm just going to move it slightly away then add the story. or i might move vespa's into the river (by mistake, of course)
  2. I went up to the Eastern Cape last week to go hiking and we decided to place a cache on the way back. So we placed a cache in the middle of Strormsriver Bridge, not sure why nobody has a cache there already? Anyway, when i got around to submitting it yesterday i got a reply from the publisher asking if it was the same cache as the one submitted by vesapxvespa? Turns out that Vespa (who lives down the road from us in Cape Town) also took a trip down to PE and also placed a cache in the middle of the same bridge (8m away from mine) on the same day. He then submitted it at the same time that i submitted mine! How's that for a strange coincidence? So the publisher sat with a dilemma, placed in the same place, on the same day, submitted at the same time, both of us 500km away from the cache!
  3. Don't you find it strange how cachers sometimes think alike or randomly meet each other at strange times? Like if a cache hasn't been visited for ages and then you end up visiting it on the same day as 2 other teams? We've all experienced this i'm sure? Vespa and I have a very strange story to tell......
  4. OK, I'll give it a go again! I just know that i'm going to kick myself when i find it!!!!! Cheers guys!
  5. I think i'll try once more, then i might hijack Cindy! I read the cache as 18m accuracy on the GPS, but i'll take that as a free clue! I should be able to walk there blindfolded by now!
  6. mmmm, Huskies must be grinning after reading my logs! Lucky bunch of cachers to have Cindy on the trip! Otherwise i reckon they wouldn't have found it either. (I could be wrong!) My problem is that i have no way of narrowing down my search. That entire area has been trampled by me during my three (yes, three) visits to the area. I just need to know round about where to start looking. Next to the Filter house? 100m from the filter house? Which direction? But i agree, don't give it away! By the way, all i see when i go up there are X's!

Just to ensure that Vespa has your order and to make sure that you're not overlooked, make sure you email him your orders. aaronswyoung@gmail.com Cheers! Bear, I think the shirts look great!
  8. Peter, if we see you at the CITO event it will be exactly 5 years from finding your first cache!

Wow, is it just me or are cachers starting to move at warp speed? Thanks all, but comparitively speaking, i've got miles and miles to go! Well done Noddy! Couldn't make it out to meet you, so it will have to be breakfast in Durbs then!
  10. How about just the coordinates on the front? Then Western Cape CITO Event etc. on the back with date? Along with Geocaching logo etc (on arm?) i.e. keep it simple? I also like FIDO's suggestion. (If you send more clues for your FIDO 002 then i'm sure i'll like it even more!)
  11. Ha ha! This is great! More zoo stories! I want more zoo stories!!!! Sounding like fun! Place the cache! Place the cache! Lets move the CITO event to the zoo!! (only joking)

Discombob, I think that there might actually is some rubbish up there. When i phoned the section ranger that was the first place she mentioned. So hopefully our efforts will be well deserved! And Huskies, thanks for offer on transport! We may just take you up on that! The rangers have offered to transport us and accompany us, but you never know. And for everyone else: We want to give away a few prizes, to encourage people to attend and to say thanks. So if anyone can help us on that side of things it would be great! We're looking for anything! Small goodies, cape union mart gizmos, cache items etc. Anybody got contacts? And T-shirt sponsors would be ideal - contact Vespa! In the meantime, to whet your appetite... Check out this link: Hoerikwaggo Trails: 3 Day Trail Could be a great caching opportunity for two!

Yes indeed, Vespaxvespa is the man in charge of the shirts! We are in capable hands indeed! We will have to order the shirts from him in advance before the event, but everybody should get an email regarding that in due time. On the topic of location, Cape Point has thier own clean-up crew so our efforts may be in vain? So we have an alternative plan! How does everybody feel about the area around kalk bay caves, amphitheatre etc.? We can get transported from silvermine main entrance to the back of the amphitheatre by the park rangers. That leaves a 15 minute walk to the area along a really good footpath. We can then do the clean up with the park rangers and they have agreed to show those interested a few of the caves in the area! Just as another bonus activity whilst we clean! After that, they will take us to the braai facilties at the dam where we can have a braai and a swim (if it's a nice day). So thats the new plan. How does everybody feel about that?

And to me for being with both of them at thier respective milestones! Of course we haven't forgotten about B&F reaching 150! Congrats! So many things are happening! It's incredible!
  15. Thanks so much to everyone! Especially to ZAlandyman and SuzieQ for lagging me around all day! And to Goofster for kindly driving Tamaryn around in his Cachemoblie! Very much appreciated! Ha ha! Right you are Vespa! I'm keen to add a few more esily accesible caches in the Southern Suburbs! Actually i have one or two hidden already, but i forgot to add stashnotes etc. so, as soon as I do that, they are good to go! I don't mind easy caches, so long as they are in a place of worth, or the hunt is fun etc! And everybody likes a quick find every now and then. Although, the tough ones always seem more rewarding!

I'll have to agree with B&F! Frodo's Journey should be compulsory! I'd gladly do it again should anybody need a guide, any day of the week! Open invitiation! (Exept for those crazy night time cachers!)

    Cito Event

Good day all! So I think i should really start checking the forums more often! There are so many people available to help in various different ways for this event, i really think that we should start putting out our ideas onto the forum so that if anybody has expertise or contacts in any of the areas they could help out. In reply to vespa, regarding the on-track club, they will be putting the clean-up day on thier calendar and hence on thier website as an invitation for any of thier members to join in and help with the clean-up of the beach. Is this ok with everybody? This should create some positive attention as mentioned by B&F. I realise that some people would like to keep this very exclusive? My personal feeling is that i would like to have a large interactive social day with all the geocachers and thier family and friends. Whilst this should remain exclusively a geocaching event, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a few extra hands to help with the tidying up? What is the general feeling in this regard?
  19. Sounds good, I'm in! This sounds like a fantastic weekend!
  20. That mini-climb sounds great! Especially for beginners such as myself! Goofster. i'll jump in with you guys for the ride if thats ok with you? But if there's not enough vehicles, then i'll be glad to do some driving!
  21. The Somerset-West/Helderberg area sounds like a good place to visit, it just seems like a place that we always go past and never actually get around to finding the caches there! (And i speak for myself) It's also close enough for others if the have to be back early! Thanks for putting in the effort so far vespaxvespa! Let me know if there's anything i can do to help out!
  22. This sounds great, any final decisions with regards to the destination?
