  1. All it needs now it to be able to delete any souvenirs I don't like eg 31 days of August. If anyone knows a way to delete them I would be grateful.
  2. Many thanks. What confused me was not realising I had to type in a search area from the home screen! I got used to clicking "view map" from the drop down menu.
  3. Perhaps if I explain how I usually find caches you would be able to see where I am going wrong under the new system. From the opening screen I click on "View map" . I know I will be near Iver Heath, Southern England, in a few days' time so I move to that area on the map. Then I see a couple of nice circular walks: Langley Park and LPN. Once I had the name of one of the caches I used to go back to the geocaching home page, click on filter (which I can no longer do) and then put either Langley Park or LPN into the search on cache name, plus Southern England to refine the search, and a list of caches come up. I then turn the list into a PQ and off I go geocaching. Now I have to search on a map with filters on the left of the page. I type in eg LPN and I get taken to Thailand. I have tried forcing the search engine to keep me in the right place by also adding the name of the person who laid the cache. Still I don't get a list of caches name LPN. What I have now done is made a PQ with a radius of a certain distance around LPN 1 but this includes all sorts of caches I'm not interested in. OK. Now that I have tortuously typed the above, I think I might have worked out how to do what I want: on the opening screen type in the area then click on the magnifying glass. Then filter on the name of the cache. I hope this has helped anyone else! When all is said and done, I don't like this new system. I want my screen filled with caches rather than having to click on "search this area" all the time.
  4. I've tried that and I ended up in North east UK rather than near Slough. I've tried a partial search and a full search of a cache name. What you said is the first thing I tried. That is why it is so frustrating.
  5. There no longer appears to be a decent filter on the search (opening) page and the search box to the left of the map doesn't search by cache name, just location.
  6. Two problems that I would like help with: (1) I cannot find the Openstreetmap on this new map. I use it all the time as it shows more tracks than the geocaching.com one. How do I get back to it? (2) Where have my PQs gone in the left hand window? I traverse the world via PQs.
  7. Every week when I receive my newsletter I say I will write in and complain but then wait just in case issues with it were being resolved. It is now a good few months since it was introduced and it is the same uninformative e-mail. When I click on "Recent geocaches near you" I still get a list which includes caches that I have either found or placed. Picking out new caches means scrolling down many times. Is there any chance that Groundspeak will revert to the previous practise of only showing new caches near me?
  8. There is nothing more aggravating than seeing a newly published cache, going to find it and then discovering that it is not yet in position. This happened to me last month!

    My Finds PQ

That thought crossed my mind too, but I figured for someone with over 3000 finds over the course of 6 years, the number of archived caches that wouldn't be returned by a regular PQ would most likely be far more than 14. I think we can safely assume that they're using the special My Finds PQ. Yes, I have been running the special "My Finds" PQ. I think someone earlier may have pointed to the problem. I use GSAK to see the PQ so perhaps it is some setting in there that is the problem. I have already searched GSAK on the GC code and the 5 special Jasmer caches weren't in there. I wondered if it was something to do with them being very old caches. I'll have another look and thank you to everyone who commented.

    My Finds PQ

I had noticed in the past that the number of my finds shown on the website is higher than that showing in my "My Finds" download. I had always assumed that this was because events weren't counted. However, today when checking on my Jasmer status (a find for every month since geocaching began) I discovered that there are at least 5 caches which do not show up in the downloaded list. For example, on 25 May I found GCF15 and this is not shown in my downloaded list - dated today 27 June. I am still 14 adrift and have no idea which ones they are. Any thoughts gratefully received.
  11. It has been very interesting reading everyone's views on this subject. When someone logs a NM, and then says they couldn't find it, I ask them to change the log to a DNF. This is on the grounds that if they haven't found my cache then how do they know it needs maintenance? If I get a couple of DNFs then I go and check on the cache but if I receive just one NM then I immediately go and sort out the container. Presumably the point of view on this topic is that sometimes a NM rather than a DNF is the only way to get a CO's attention.
  12. On the search page, you must click the CHECKBOX on the top left side of the results to bookmark/query all, or you can check just selected caches. If none are checked, you will not see the Add to List button Oops! Many thanks for that. I hadn't noticed the check box until you mentioned it. It seems as if this is going to be very useful in future searched.
  13. Populate a bookmark list with your search results: Then create a PQ from that BM list: Hans NB: Actually I would like to see a "GPX File" (or "Send to GPS") button on this result page as well. When I search I do not see the "Add xxx to List" as shown in your image. On my page the button only says "My Lists" and if I click on it I get taken to my lists but cannot add the contents of the search list.
  14. I couldn't get on with the new app so someone on this site suggested Locus Maps. I found it hard work to begin with but now wouldn't cache without it. All the tracks are shown, rather than a big, plain green area. My list of complaints is: No landscape rotation, Screen goes to sleep, Corrected coordinates not shown and last BUT NOT LEAST I hate clustering. The last item was the final push for me to stop using the new app. No one else has mentioned it so perhaps it is only me that hates clustering.
  15. I have the same problem. No matter what I do there is always the number 1 showing for messages. Has anyone found an answer to this problem because it is very irritating.
  16. As you recommended, I downloaded Locus Maps. It took some time to get to grips with it but after using it I am so glad that I made the effort. One cache I looked for at the weekend showed as being in the middle of nowhere but when I looked at Locus I could see a very clear trail to walk. It does everything that I need and am grateful you mentioned it.
  17. Yes. Why? It is another aggravating factor to add to all the others (eg clustering) on the new app.
  18. Thank you for your advice. I am downloading Locus now and it looks very promising.
  19. Thank you for that. Unfortunately, I geocache offline. In a few months we will be going to Hawaii and I have solved a lot of puzzles. That's why I am really trying to see the caches at their corrected coordinates.
  20. I have been geocaching happily with the original geocaching app for a number of years and the only problem I had was the fact that caches were not shown at corrected coordinates. I have been trying to move over to the "new" app for a while now and I am ready to scream. Clustering drives me mad. I want an overview, at a certain height, of where caches are in relation to one another. This is no longer possible. As well as this, I am unable to change the units to imperial or see my caches in the the orientation that I prefer. The updated app always turns my tablet page to portrait. The controls are then on the left of my screen rather than the bottom. I find it is more awkward to go backwards and forwards with this set up. After all this so-called updating, it still isn't possible to see caches at their corrected coordinates. This has been requested by many members over a long time and it really should be addressed.

    Pocket Query

I live in Cyprus. I have a PQ called All Cyprus which excludes all my finds and my own caches. For some reason a couple of caches that I haven't found, or own, do not download. It isn't because the list is too large as I only have another 71 to find. They are not on my ignore list. They are not outside the distance of my search. It isn't to do with the boxes I tick as I ask only for caches in Cyprus. I don't care about size, terrain, difficulty, etc. I just want to download all unfound caches in Cyprus. If anyone has any thoughts on why these two caches don't download I would be very grateful. I am able to download directly from the website to my Garmin but I want it downloaded to my iPhone as well so that I can navigate to the parking area of one of them. When I try to download from the web to my iPhone it says it cannot connect to geocaching.com whenever I try the advance search.
  22. Many thanks for this. I have been trying to download Wherigos via Google for a long time - with no success - obviously! I will use Safari in future.
  23. There is only a tiny box to type messages in and one needs to scroll up and down to check what one has written. The reply text box is bigger. Is it possible to make them both the same size? Or perhaps it is possible to resize the "send" text box.
  24. I've been trying to find caches by name and haven't had any success. Today I thought I would try searching the forums and came across your text. Thank you so much for pointing out the old search link! I had not noticed it until you said.
