  1. We've also had a cache event at El Abuelo (Mexican food). They have a banquet room, central location and pretty fast service. Just throwing out another option.
  2. WOW! How did I miss this? Never participated in a cache machine...hmmm....I do have family coming from out of state that weekend. Better make sure I have lots of log space in my caches!
  3. THANK YOU! My Delorme is a mess now....Not only can I not get PQs to load as geocaches vs. waypoints, I cannot even get caches sent individually via the plug in now. Will this be fixed at any point?
  4. Groundspeak, Has anyone looked into this issue yet? The probelm began after last weeks site update. It seems to only be affecting those using Delorme's Cache Register. UGH! I am soooo frustrated! Can't even get them to load individually now. Time to go back to printing out paper? Everything was fine before the site "updates."
  5. Fingers crossed. I loaded 100 caches one by one yesterday! Erg!
  6. Also....bummer that there isn't an easier way to keep up with caches nominated for Cache of the Month. I am terrible about getting on the WSGA site (yes my own fault). It's nice to have some east side representation in there!
  7. Yay! Thank you for getting that set up. Can't wait to see everyone again!
  8. Congrats to both you and Navigatorz who reached 2600 last week on our HTOM. Congrats folks!!!
  9. Awe shucks, thanks! Not the best pace but I am working on it!!!
  10. I am still tentative for the March hike...sorry waiting to find out if my conflict is resolved or not. Either of those hikes sound good for April. I don't have my April calendar info yet so I am not sure how available I will be (cub scouts, baseball etc) . So far the weekends of the 11-12th (Easter) and 25-26th (kids parade-apple blossom) are out for me.
  11. Is all good....I too know all too well about finding time for everyone:) I will keep an eye out and watch and see what happens....maybe all the tires will majically be fixed and I can show up:) The Russman Darn it! Best laid plans and all that.... I suggested that date and sure enough I have a conflict. Such is the life of a mother of 3. We have a cub scout committment that date. In fact all of my Sat are committed so it looks like maybe I will have to skip church some Sun and hike with firenuthunter
  12. There are no plans at this time. The hike to the caches above Lake Lenore Caves would be a good HOTM season opener. Caches to find on the hike would be: Lenore Caves Cache The Land That Time Forgot The a-maze-ing Petroglyph LK Lost N Time And you're right, March is the best time to go there to avoid the critters. If I remember right, the total distance is just over 3 miles. Not a long hike, but a very interesting one through an ancient coulee. I've found those caches but would love to go again to check on my hides. Any one else interested in making this our first HOTM for 2009? Anyone want to suggest a date? Hey, I think it is a great idea. I am in too. I have done 2 of the 4 and they were a lot of fun. I can commit to the weekend of the 20th/21st. Earlier weekends I have other commitments that I would have to work around so not sure if I can pull it off with the family and all.
  13. Ran across info in the WenatcheeOutdoors News- Nov 2008 and thought others might find it useful too. Winter Trail Info: Wenatchee Foothills. With winter fast approaching, here’s some trail information you should know (and that should be forwarded to other trail users). Which trails flanking Wenatchee are legal to use in winter, which ones do you need to stay off, and how do you use trails responsibly over the winter? Sage Hills Closure. The entire Sage Hills parcel (PUD properties and Land Trust properties from Day Drive to Horse Lake Road) is closed to the public from December 1 until April 1. The PUD’s property in the Sage Hills is managed as mule deer habitat and recreational use of the property from April through November is a privilege rather than a right. For recreationalists to remain in good graces with the PUD (and to avoid having this area closed altogether in the future), it’s important to heed the winter closure. Even the lower trails accessed from Day Drive and Maiden Lane (Broadview) are closed to hikers, joggers, snowshoers, and pet owners from December 1 until April 1. Saddle Rock (north side). The trails on the Jacobson Preserve owned by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust (leaving from the WRAC) are open in winter. The Land Trust asks all trail users to watch their tread – if the trails are so soft that your boots or bike leave prints or ruts, stay off until conditions firm up (or until the trail freezes). Dogs must be leashed and, because this trail is heavily used, scoop your dogs poop. Finally, if you encounter deer, don’t spook them. Winter survival for deer is a delicate game of conserving calories-- causing deer to bolt is an expenditure of energy they can’t afford. Saddle Rock (south side). Accessing Saddle Rock from the end of Circle Street has you on property owned by the DNR. Trails here are open in winter but all the points just mentioned in the last section apply here as well. Dry Gulch Preserve (Asamera Mine). The property of the old Asamera Mine site is now owned by the Appleatchee Riders and is now called the Dry Gulch Preserve. This property is adjacent to the south side of Saddle Rock and is also accessed from the end of Circle Street. The property is open to the public throughout the winter for hiking, walking, jogging, and snowshoeing. No mountain bikes or motorized vehicles are allowed any time of year. This property was acquired specifically so members of the Appleatchee Riders could horseback ride here, and other public use is a bonus we all get to enjoy. As such, we need to be responsible users to retain this privilege. Stay on existing trails and roads (no cross-country travel), leash your pet, obey all ‘No-Trespassing’ signs, and don’t cross any barbwire fences.
  14. Best Wishes, and Thank You for the work you've put into these hikes. We really enjoyed joining you and the rest of the crew on the August HOTM. Ditto from this Wet Sider. I really enjoyed meeting more Cache-cadians on the Wedge Mountain and Altitude Is Your Friend hikes, which were excellent. Thanks for organizing them and hope to see y'all on a few next year. Thanks to all that participated AND DROVE- we had some great times! I was going to post that I can't hike this month either, then saw the possible plan was off anyway. Next Spring? We can start our lists!
  15. mmauvil- love the HOTM reference in your avatar! I knew you would get a kick out of that! As to dates, my October looks open thus far. Sundays work best for me, but if I know in advance I could make a Saturday work too! Checked my dates and I am not available on a weekend in October until the 18-19 (we have out of state company arriving the first weekend and leaving the second) and I could make a Sunday work if I am really nice to my husband.
  16. I am all for one more hike! My vote goes to one of the first two. I would love to do the first one since a couple of those have been on my must do list FOREVER but the second option sounds good too. The third option could be done in Nov probably and I have done the 4th option so..... Sat. the 4th is out for me but the 11th is good I think (I have to double check something). Sundays are pretty much out.... mmauvil- love the HOTM reference in your avatar!
  17. Yep red top only but would love to ride w/someone. I am skipping out on Sunday school with the kids so it would be nice to maximize my socializing time....I come with gas money and a baby so two spots? If not can drive myself but no room for passengers. See you Sun @ 715.
  18. CONGRATULATIONS MMAUVIL on reaching 500 !!! and to the Navigatorz on 2500!!!!
  19. Not sure if I could make it, but option 2 on either sunday fits best for me. (granted I am not one of the regulars so I should only get half a vote.) I vote for option #2 with a preference for the 13th/14th although I think I am available the other days.... not sure. AndrewRJ can have a full vote since he agrees with me. I like option #3 also but prefer #2. Option #1 is fun but I have already done that hike and would like to do a new one.
  20. Congrats to Mr. Gadget #2 on his 2500 find at Altitude is your Friend!!! Way to go!!
  21. A special thank you to the Navigatorz for planning and organizing the cache-cadian hike of the month. We had so much fun today! I tease you about being "type A" but it is great that you are so organized in planning out these fun hikes! Today started out being a hike plus another 5 or so caches which turned into 20 caches for some thanks to some new hides. We had some great adventures today--- from a flat tire, lost camera, to a herd of sheep blocking the road! Lots of laughs along the way. We had 14 people participate today from 10 months to 81 years!! Can't wait to see the photos. Thanks to all the participated in making this a day to remember!
  22. Great photos! Thanks for sharing!
  23. I will participate AND I will need a ride for 2 (me and baby). Thanks for putting this together Nav.
  24. I think I am more sore today than yesterday! 2nd day out is always worse- LOL! Had lots of fun! Hope our westside companions will join us again in spite of our delayed start time! Next month I would love to do some of the local Mission Ridge area caches. I know a lot of folks have already done them though. I like the idea of doing Altitude is my Friend etc. Any interest? Just about the only weekend that will work for me is August 16-17.
  25. Great photos! Thanks for sharing!
