  1. The cache owner is the person that placed the cache and the reviewer is the person that published (activated) the cache for others to see on GC,com.
  2. I've found that the micro I'm seeking is always in the last place I look, I'm sure you will find the same to be true. Sorry if this post wasn't much help.
  3. A 3 minute bump? That's gotta be some kind of record don't it? You may have to ask that in the UK forum... If the hint were "bangers and mash" I'd be able to help you out.
  4. Nope! When I get to the area (if it is less than 5 stars for terrain) I make an assessment of what I perceive the difficulty for me would be and approach accordingly. If it's a fiver I pre-plan accordingly...
  5. That link is to the plaque that is there now, not to the first cache. That first cache was never actually listed on this site. Isonzo Karst gives the correct link to find out more about the first geocache placed. In addition, you can also read the description on this cache to find out more about why the original cache placement was never listed on this site (destroyed basically): GC92, Un-Original Stash. Or, gee whiz you could go to the link (waypoint) I listed and find out the same thing...
  6. I'm getting an itch to do this one. GCKB5G Looks like you get four caches on this trip.
  7. When you say unpublished do you mean just on GC.com? Any chance it's listed on another site? It looks like there is no GC.com stash note? Actually it looks to be lacking many of the "normal" GC.com markings/identifiers.
  8. If I'm FTF of the day I'll claim FTF for that as well!
  9. I'll keep watching and if Once Upon a Time GCCBE2 and/or Sarah's Happy Hollow GC3FAB don't get adopted I'll take them. Once Upon a Time is a great Washington State History cache and we visit Cle Elum a few times a year so a maintenance run would be no problem. The waypoint for Crevice is missing a letter GCP47C OS
  10. I'm thinking I'd like to see this as a sticky. edit: Of course the title should probably be changed to something like "Resources for obtaining permission in Washington" or something similar.
  11. Both the full and simple no logs pages print fine for me. I would also like to point out that this should have been posted in the "Geocaching.com Web Site" section as it would get the attention of Jeremy much quicker.
  12. All good advice. At least post a needs maintenance log. We generally carry enough supplies with us to do maintenance on at least three caches and carry a complete cache in case a container/cache has been damaged or is missing.
  13. Excellent! I looked for something similar for Whatcom County but came up empty handed. Any of you north county folks know of such a tool for your county? Wouldn't it be nice if all counties could come together with a standardized GIS package!
  14. Planning on placing a cache in Skagit County? Not sure who to contact for permission (yeah, like anyone ever asks)? Give iMap a try! http://www.skagitcounty.net/GIS/Applicatio...ap/asp/iMap.asp edit: The above link requires internet exploder 5 or greater.
  15. I'm curious as to why the cache owner deleted all log entries except for "found it"? edit: Pre July 16th entries...
  16. No! You can warn some people until you are blue in the face and they will still attempt things that are beyond their abilities. What gets those people in trouble is their inability to "exercise common sense and caution". At the top of each cache page... A snip from the disclaimer... http://www.geocaching.com/about/disclaimer.aspx Looks like plenty of warning to me.
  17. Not Your Cache = Not Your Problem If the cache owner wants to review the log they will, and then probably deal with the problem how they see fit. You should feel good about completing the cache as intended and let the foks that are just looking for numbers have at it. The weather is great, go find some more caches. Edit: Upon further review it looks like the cache owner has plans to deal with bogus logs. from the cache page
  18. Heck I forgot all about that one... As for the OP's question. I see nothing wrong with finding new ways to play the game. After all it is a "treasure hunt" and what better way to get to the treasure first.
  19. I must be looking at the wrong "State Page"... What "State Page" shows TB drops without an associated cache?
  20. Might I interest you in a reading of the guidelines? http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx
  21. There are moments in time and space when the DOP is horrible. Something I use if I want to know when the best satellite coverage is available is the Trimble Planner Software. It's free... http://www.trimble.com/planningsoftware.shtml Looks like today from 8ish AM to 11ish AM would have been a poor time to acquire any reliable coordinates in and around Rapid City SD. Wrong almanac file... Looks like 9 PM would be a poor time. This is assuming on 18% obstacles and a 10 degree cutoff. Increase your cutoff and/or add some obstructions and it could get real ugly, real quick.
  22. I've built some pretty small 802.11 and bluetooth sniffers/scanners. Was it a toggle switch or push button? I used push buttons on mine. They were about the size of a large magnetic key holder.
  23. Here are some guidelines... http://www.geocaching.com/about/finding.aspx
