  1. Probably is a primordial hunter/gatherer instinct, who knows?
  2. My reply was straightforward: Do you believe that a GC number is sacrosanct? Are your smilies better than other people's smilies? I fail to understand why we go over this again and again, people play this game the way they want to play it. Why does it matter to anyone else? There is no sanctioning body or rules that govern play. Find your caches, enjoy your find and smiley and move on.
  3. So we can officially now have our own "Million Man March" on Washington? By the way, what is our cause?
  4. In the immortal words of the Kinks.... "paranoia, they destroy ya'"
  5. I noticed today that the first cache I ever found has probably gone to geoheaven. I know this probably sounds too overly sentimental, but is your first cache find still active?
  6. I came across a TB once that was a cheapy Swiss Army style knife, before placing it in another cache I put a zip tie around it to secure the blades. Personally I have no problem at all with Swiss Army knives in caches, you can't idiot proof everything.
  7. Why did I just know this thread would take on a life of its' own? I wouldn't be suprised if Vegas bookies start putting odds on our threads.
  8. It seems to be a truism that the longer we play the worse we get at it, but it just be maybe that we grow impatient sooner.
  9. Geocachers in Boston should be very careful! Well, marketers unfortunately seem to practice any publicity is good publicity.
  10. Beer holder with a draw tube, wait they already have that.
  11. Good again to hear an LEO's take on caching, my experiences with Law Enforcement and caching have been nothing but positive. I mostly feel bad that I may have taken them from their duties or caused unjust worry when such a situation occurs.
  12. I agree, probably never going to get excited about WMing until/if it is intergrated and shows up on PQs and caching stats. Yes, I do sound like a broken record.
  13. I wasn't worried until the voice in my head started giving me coordinates.
  14. I don't see a problem with using you real names unless you consider it a privacy issue. There are some of us that do while others use a fictitious handle.
  15. We live up at the Lake of the Ozarks, but planning on caching soon in Springfield. We would be more than happy to meet up with you then or let us know if you are ever up this way.
  16. I wouldn't come to this forum if everything was strictly on-topic and absolutely, technically correct. I come for the entertainment value which is worth the price of admission alone.
  17. Update on this. After sending them an e-mail and I think someone else contacted them these people finally logged their visit yesterday and logged the coin out of my cache.Thats 11 days to log a visit. There really isn't any guideline that one necessarily has to log a cache online anyway. Some never do, but prefer only to sign the logbook. I have occasionly missed logging them from a cache run as long as 2 or 3 months after the fact. Also some people cache on extended vavctions and may not have access to a computer until after they return.
  18. It is also has been told that Platinum Members (Can't devulge their "real name here) actually oversee the location and safe keeping of the Holy Grail, but even more importantly they also know where the cache is hidden at the Groundspeak offices.
  19. I like that you made the Waypoint Identifier (GC #) big and easy to read.
  20. It really hasn't been an overly long time for the individual to hold to coin (Jan 10th) , especially given that it is winter and they may not be actively caching. Also, personally I try not to place a coin in "any ole cache' but usually try to find a dependable one without a history of hitchhiker (TB or coin) losses or muggles. They might be waiting to come across a good cache to drop it. Don't stress about your coins, it takes the fun out of it .
  21. Something like this?: This is the attribute used now to show the cache is available in winter and should be unaffected by snow.
  22. I have seen this mentioned a number of times in the forums but have yet to come across a cache using one as yet, but then again I don't get out that often I think most have agreed it is a worthy container.
  23. My first 25 finds were sans GPSr. I found the technique of "handrailing" using a topo map the most useful. Aerial images (like GoogleEarth) can be used, but about useless in heavy canopy.
  24. Can't seem to find a TB by that name listed on GC, who is the owner? Can you offer any more specifics, like a link to the TB page?
