  1. I got several questions about the origin of the design : is it a copy of an authentic aboriginal drawing or is it a new design ? Some were talking about violating aboriginal copyrights or counterfeiting... Nothing to worry about : this is an original drawing. Of course it was inspired by the aboriginal mythology, but it is not a copy in any way. I have been told that counterfeiting of aboriginal art is a big problem in Australia. Any geocachers 'down under' who can confirm ? Cheers Ellandel
  2. Apologies to all the geocachers Down Under, but I never thought that the limited editions would be sold out in less than a day, although I had doubled the usual quantities (100 instead of the usual 50 or 60). There are still Polished Nickel coins available. And I have a subscription service for those who don't want to miss a single coin... However, as a courtesy to the collectors who purchased the limited editions, I can't decently start another production run... But don't worry, for the 3 previous coins in my series, I always had around 10% of the pre-orders that were never paid. So I will re-open the sales with leftover unpaid coins in about a month Watch my website and I'll keep you informed see you on www.ellandel.com Cheers Ellandel
  3. Where is Smurfville ? I'll need to make a geocoin for that country too, I guess. Which airlines fly there, Geosmurfz ?
  4. Actually the lines you see are recessed or raised metal under the transparent paint layer. The colors on the snake's body are all translucent. Also the white dots are glow-in-the-dark. A technique already used on some other coins Hope you like it Cheers Ellandel
  5. This is the fourth coin in the series 'Geocoins around the Planet' and this is a coin you will not want to miss ! The design idea for the Ellandel Australia 2007 Geocoin came from a local Geocoin enthusiast. Many thanks to Carolyn Rutter who provided lots of creative ideas, website addresses and advice for this great coin. The team behind this coins really likes it and we hope you will too ! The Geocoin is based on a design inspired by aboriginal art. To order this coin, and for interesting articles on the aborigines, their history and their customs, : GO TO THE SALES SITE For the full story behind my series : Click here! Cheers, and let me know what you think ! Ellandel
  6. Sold out already. After one week, that was quick !
  7. Yes, delightful countries, and I have geocached in several of them. I will issue a Personal Geocoin for Sweden and Denmark soon. Have a look at my site www.ellandel.com and you will understand why... Happy geocaching Ellandel
  8. Only 8 nickel coins left for sale
  9. You're right Goudacat, that is exactly what this project is all about... There are 192 countries officially recognized by the UN, and my intention is to geocache in them all... I have some challenging countries like Nauru (hardly any transportation to that island in the Pacific) or some countries at war (unfortunately, there's quite a few) but I intend to complete this project in ten to fifteen years, so hopefully those countries will no longer be at war... And the coin series is nice for the collectors... Cheers Ellandel
  10. Geocaching around the Planet : Every month I issue a new personal geocoin for the country where I have found or hidden a geocache. I started in November 2006 and visited China and Spain. See all about this crazy project on my website. The first country in the 2007 series is IRELAND Ireland is a fabulous country : it offers an astonishing array of landscapes and leisure activities. Nature is probably its greatest appeal, although some would argue that Ireland has a lot more to offer, starting with their famous dark beer of course. But the first symbol that comes to mind when thinking about Ireland is the Shamrock. Another symbol of Ireland is the sheep : there are more sheep than Irish citizens (over 4 million) and you cannot visit the Irish countryside without seeing some. So we naturally put the Irish shamrock and the sheep on the geocoin. And the third symbol is, of course, Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, celebrated on March 14. There are many stories about St Patrick and St Patrick's day, and a good introduction can be found on this interesting mini-historical site. But where is the Saint ? Well, read the text on the coin. It is one of the popular Irish 'sayings' for St Patrick's day. Find out what it means here on this Irish sayings link and you'll probably smile when you look at the coin again.... This coin should be available mid-February ! It can be ordered from www.my-geocoin.com but it's a limited edition, so it will be sold out quickly ... Enjoy ! Ellandel
  11. The final picture of the coin has arrived. Looks good - and the Gold and Gun coins are sold out. A few nickels still available cheers Ellandel
  12. They're going quickly ! After about a week, only 2 Gun coins and 8 Gold coins left Hurry before they are all gone Cheers Ellandel
  13. No soy extranjero - soy belga Y la mitad de Belgica es espanola (la reina Fabiola...) Entonces, teneis que celebrar el hecho que un extranjero produce un geocoin, no ? Ellandel
  14. I wouldn't call them national groups, just some people in the forums don't like the practice. Most couldn't give a care, but it's the squeaky wheel that gets oiled. Which country are you visiting next? Probably the US... Will that make the squeaky wheels squeak even more ? Cheers Ellandel
  15. eso quiere decir que te gusta ?
  16. Just to make sure I do not start another controversy : This coin is not a geocoin issued by the Spanish Geocaching group. This is a Personal Geocoin about Spain. I have been warned that some national groups hate it when someone issues a 'national coin'... Even so, I have not seen anything from Spain yet, so AtlantaGal was right Cheers Ellandel
  17. Shipping information will be available from My-Geocoin in mid-december. I'll send an e-mail to all customers and post a final date in the forum. Which wording and grammar did you edit ? I'm happy to learn... Cheers Ellandel
  18. The second coin in my series is dedicated to Spain. This is a country I like very much, not just because it has magnificent beaches and unspoilt nature. It also has some fabulous examples of architectural creativity, and Gaudi is probably the most striking example of Spanish modern architecture. Gaudi's basilica 'The Sagrada Familia', still unfinished, is a grandiose tribute to his exceptional talent. This is why the basilica was used as an inspiration for the Geocoin. The colored tiles, frequently used by Gaudi, are the most striking aspect of his art, and are therefore depicted on the coin. For those who want to learn more about the Sagrada Familia and Gaudi, have a look at this page on Wikipedia : Sagrada Familia If you want to order this coin please click : ORDER HERE And let me know what you think. This will be a limited edition, so hurry. The previous coin (China) is almost sold out, and this one looks even better !! My purpose is to issue a Personal Geocoin for each country where I have geocached. To find more about my project, goto www.ellandel.com Thanks Ellandel Details for the coin Size : 1.75" (44mm) Date of Availablity : Mid-January 2007 Finishes : Nickel (130), Gold (60) Matte Gun (60) Trackablity : Yes Icon : Yes Price : 8.5$ (nickel) 9.5$ (others)
  19. Thanks Fundamental Apparently, it's the first coin featuring Spain, so that should make it even better ! Cheers Ellandel
