  1. I have both Metroguide and Topo. Topo is great if most of what you plan to do is wilderness stuff. It will show you streams and lakes that Metroguide will not. Several times it showed me that I should cross the creek before I move closer to the cache. That was helpful, but at a 1:100,000 scale, if you are used to 7.5 min. topos it is aggravating. Also the street information is not very accurate. When I am driving along with the topo maps active, my position is shown as several feet to either side of the road. When I switch back to Metroguide, I am right where I am supposed to be. So if street info is what you want most right now, go with Metroguide.
  2. Thanks Mr. Plow, thats the name, that name again is Mr. Plow. I love that song. I went to that site, the map looks good. I am used to 1:24,000 though. Is there any base map info for Canada built into the 76S?

  4. I am going to Banff in canada in Aug. I was wondering if I have to buy a whole cd to get the maps to download into my GPS? I should have a GPSmap 76s by then. Or is there another way to do this that I have not thought of. Also, is there a way to download the scanned topos like the U.S. has?

I like the color screen, it uses SD RAM just like my Meridian, I already own one piece of software for it (M$ Streets&Trips), Ale Just a suggestion. Pick up a copy of Microsoft Mappoint. I have used the pocket pc version of streets and trips. To minimize map size in streets and trips they only send the address info on every other street. So if you use the program to look up addresses, you will quickly become dissatisfied. Mappoint does not have the same problem. Also, if you go to this site you can get an IBM 340 MB Microdrive for under $100.00 I paid a lot more. forgot to put link http://www.ssdonline.com/detail_page.cfm?productid=MD340/A&affid=A01 [This message was edited by Yak Man on April 22, 2002 at 08:36 AM.]

However, when I spend money I like to have something to hold in my hand when I am done. I never was big on "vacations". I just like to head for the wilderness that is my vacation.

  9. I have seen other threads on the Navitrack. I have not seen any mention of price. As far as the Manifold package. Is that mostly to make maps for the Navitrack?

  11. If you send me the scanned picture of the map i can crop it to a circle and send it back. my map software only prints rectangles.
  12. If you had a $5000.00 technology credit at work that you could spend on anything you wanted and you were really into Geocaching, what would you buy? High end GPSR’s or any cool things that would be related to this sport. (yes I am in this position.) And i am looking for suggestions on really cool gear. That Navitrak thing looks neat. 14. Is there a place to get a nice large file of the logo? The ones on the page are somewhat small.
  15. Here are two more redheads for this thread. My sister and niece. She wants to be called the Geo Squirt. [] she is so cute! I was out visiting them last week and they went with me on a few cache finds. I don’t understand why there are so many redheads in this sport.
  16. I took mine to Oregon last week. it was in my carry on. However American wont let you use them in flight. They are are listed as Non approved devices. It seems silly to me but what can you do?
