  1. Cheers EScout, done and it's set to rechargers. However that's set it would still not reflect such a quick drain. As an addition I have put the batteries which drained so quickly back in to the charger and the charger is telling me they only needed a half hour to knock them back to full charge which sounds like a gps fault
  2. Hi there, a quick question or three before I get onto Magellan customer service. Had a GC for about a year now and battery life has never been a problem. We use rechargeables and they generally last about ten hours. I have about twelve pairs and rotate them. Last week ALL the batteries started running out within half an hour, even fully charged ones. We use 2000mah (whatever, thingymambobs) minimum. I thought it may be the charger. Yesterday spanked £20 on a new charger and some 2300mwahhahah batts. Charged em up until the charger said full. Put em in the GC tonight, about 3 minutes later 'battery level low, switch off to save data'. What's going on? Has it been abducted whilst we haven't been looking? Can anyone help? My thoughts on this are, do a full system reset and see if that cures it. If not, get onto Magellan BUT I don't want to be without a gps as we are addicted. Please help us, you're our only hope.
  3. I'm with Amazo on this. I am biased certainly as I currently have Hitchhiker 42. I've been in touch with the CO of this cache and he is more than happy as to how it is being dealt with. These are rare caches and to offer cachers the opportunity to log them surely is a good thing? If a cacher manages to get a hold of one then why not share it with other cachers? It's a talking point, it can bring your local caching community together too. I was planning on hiding the cache until I discovered that there was another one nearby(ish). Why not take advantage of this opportunity? Once those who wish to log it then it can go back in the wild? Just my twopence worth.
  4. This is a known bug. Basically, if the coordinates have zero degrees, then the coordinates are assumed to be positive (north, east), even if there are non-zero minutes. Here's the thread:http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=285017 Thank you! Solved...hopefully
  5. I think this is a great feature. But December We've just had series of 27 puzzle caches come out on almost the same day the new feature was made available. I weep
  6. I love the new add coords feature on the puzzle caches BUT I need some help. We in the UK use Northings and Westings. When I try to enter my coords in the format it adds the Wests as Eastings which ain't much use for us. How can I solve this, is it possible? Am I just being a durrbrain?
  7. I prefer the stats from gsak and the badges. I'm xbox generation and points mean prizes.
  8. Howdy, I've been using GSAK to upload my stats to GC.com. but it seems to be stuck now and hasn't loaded up my last two PQ's. Can anyone offer me any advice please.
  9. I've chuffing solved it! For anyone who has the same problem go to the Magellan website and follow the support link through to downloads for the eXplorist GC. In there are the firmwar upgrades AND at the bottom of the list is a complete reinstall for the GC. You have to format the GC then reinstall all the info. I have done it this morning and my wee GPS doth work again. Hurrah!
  10. Hi there, can anyone please help me? Out caching today (going for the big 600). My GPS switched itself off, I changed the batteries and it came back on on the developers screen (I think). Tried the master reset, tried holding down the buttons. Just keeps returning to that screen. Plugged it into pc and it will recognise it as a external drive but it won't kick into the screen I would expect it too. Please can you help? It will break our wee hearts as we are attempting a cache a day and have been for the last three months Cheers, Steve
  11. My girlfriend pointed out to me that the 'dots' were the sun and the moon and I was a complete idiot. Couldn't really argue with that.
  12. I agree, if it ain't working use the drag and drop feature. Frustrating to know that not every feature you would expect works with your gizmo. I've been using mine on my pc and it all works fine just now. I'm goinna use it on my mac this weekend so I'll report back if I have any issues.
  13. Howdy, I've had a GC for a week and love it. Previously using my phone which wasn't accurate enough. This is brilliant. We only cache so don't need all the other fancy features. We are super happy with it. That is my thought for the day.
  14. That's right. D/load the pq to your laptop and then drag and drop, or however you prefer to get them on the GC.
  15. I've taken my GC out for it's first spin today. Rather happy with it. We've been phone caching for the last few months and the excitement of caching doesnt seem to be abating so we took the plunge. Luckily for us my pal is over visiting from the states so we get a GC two thirds of the price (if not half) of what it would cost us here in the UK. Quite impressed so far, only nabbed one cache with it as of yet. I have a couple of questions... 1) daft question but I can't figure it out...what are the little coloured dots that show up on my compass ring, had a red one and a grey one...me no know. 2} Anyone placed a cache using the GC, we are desperate to hide some but don't want to mess it up for the hunters, feedback on this would be appreciated. Cheers, Bobo
