  1. 2 days ago, I saw a group of muggles snatch one up. A lamp post one. Did I do anything about it? Nope. It's a free world and they have just as much right to take it as I have to sign the log. In fact, I'm 99.99 percent sure that the CO didn't have permission to hide it there. Also, the reason I didn't try to stop them was because I had just parked to go get it and a little toyota pulled up before me, stopped, blocked traffic, a person got out, dashed up, lifted the skirt, opened it up (pill bottle) signed on the spot, in front of 50 or more people (very busy intersection) then went back to their bronze colored toyota corolla, got in and sped away.
  2. So, now we know. If you come across someone baking/making dope out in the boonies, stand your ground. Inform them you have every right to be there. They are in the wrong. Some of you are gonna' get yourselves hurt (or worse) over trivial BS.
  3. Once I get to the magical number of 100 and am allowed to hide some, I'm taking some out on Lake Huron in Michigan. I fish a lot of coves above Saginaw and will place some accordingly.
  4. Remove the lid and use emery clothe on the hinge studs and if you have a small enough wire brush (dremel tool), run it on the female side of the hinge.
  5. Create another small size and someone will just try to make something smaller and want to name it too. Same with bigger.
  6. It's in the country, she's the nearest landowner and some of you say you have a right? I'm sure she lives out there because she likes the solitude. If someone is always stopping and getting out of their vehicles in front of her property, I think she has every right to be paranoid. I'm also willing to bet she really does have a weapon. Don't you think it'd be the best choice for this community to move the cache? Are you really willing to take the negative press for your 'right' to cache here? "Officer, I swear he had something in his hand! I thought it was a pistol! I was terrified for my life and defended myself."
  7. So my eight foot long iron pig, I'm welding, won't interest you huh? Too bad. I plan on it being a 5/5.
  8. I don't agree with using bird's nests. It's spring, do you really want to kill off a bunch of birds? Just drill out a bunch of logs/sticks and drop some micro/nano tubes in them. Split a log in half and core out the wood. You can place some decent sized containers in there. Heck, grab an ammo can, pour wood glue all over it and roll it in sand/gravel. Spray with sealer and roll in dirt. Place in open. There. No major effort. Now use your own imagination and try it on your own.
  9. Forum interaction. No really, getting out with my kids and doing something together.
  10. I chose not to carry while playing this sport. You do. All is good and the luv is flowing. Group hug. We're all playing the same GAME. You play your way, I'll play mine. Of course, I also think GPSr's are for girly men but thats another thread. Have a good day all. I'm off to geocache.
  11. So you'd select a target for violence, based on the knowledge that they carry a deadly weapon? There's a wee bit of a flaw in that logic... You've most likely encountered a lot of people who were carrying when you were out in the wilderness, and naturally were never aware of it. Carrying a gun in no way means someone needs to brandish it or show it off, or start firing blindly on the spur of the moment. Thinking that those of us who carry would act in such a way points up a lot of unattractive bias on your part. Where'd you get that idea? Other people on the thread stated they didn't carry. I was showing how foolish the thread was. As for talking about you all, I've had people threaten me over a parking spot with flashing their weapon at me. Over a friggin' parking spot at a grocery store. I've also had a woman yank one out of her handbag just because I got within 15 feet of her walking through a parking lot. I guess since I live in a high crime area (Flint, Michigan), I can see why they might be paranoid plus, I'm a big person and might intimidate a smaller person but their actions leave a lot to be desired. So, my bias so far has fact to back it up. I wish more of you CCW'ers would show common sense. As is, I see no use of it in GC'ing, unless you're in an area with animals that might be a danger to you. Oh, I do own quite a few weapons but don't feel the need to carry as I'm not terrified of my own shadow. Carry on, Gentlemen.
  12. Standing your ground? WTF? Someone wants to get shot. Common sense isn't.
  13. We found a kid's cache Saturday and my daughter was trading stuff that cost me a few bucks for quarters! It didn't matter to her the value of the items she was placing in it. To her, it was all about the money. I guess it might be time to up her allowence?!
  14. I've been known to own a weapon or 30 but if I did carry, I'd not share the info with everyone else. Kinda' defeats the purpose, no? Heck, now I know who to mug if the chance ever presented itself (JOKE). Thanks for sharing your info. You have a right to do as you want. Just scares me some of the people that do carry. Some people who have a ccw should of never been allowed to have one. I believe all police should carry and people who have a chance of encountering a dangerous animal and that's about it. Now that I've identified who here carries, I'll know who to avoid when me and my kids are out in the wildreness. Can ya'll post the links to the rest of the threads that have debated this subject? Tanks...er....thanks.
  15. No caches hidden yet and not too many found. I have posted DNF's and really don't want any help finding them. Why bother if you need hints? The day I hide any, I will not provide any hints. I'd suggest if you can't find these things and require assistance, you should look into another sport. Maybe on-line poker?
  16. Personal responsibility is a fleeting thing nowadays. Tells you something about the people who posted, huh?
  17. That ranks up there with such atrocious acts as when Hilary Clinton picked up a rock at Auschwitz and put it in her pocket. So much for honoring such places. Sorry bub. I've been to war. There ain't nothing nice about it. I think it's wrong to make shrines about it. Every bit of it should be bulldozed under and never see the light of day. No one should consider it sacred. So, if you found a historic relic from a civil war battlefield, it would be sitting on your shelf at home with the rest of your war relics, and yet you feel that battlefields should be bulldozed and never see the light of day. I'm going to have to think about this for a while. I Collect military stuff. Call me silly but after 22 years in the Army, I kind of like it. It ain't for the battle it was in. It is because is is military stuff. I don't pay homage to it or build a shrine around it. In fact, most of it is in my basement in my 'cave'. None of it is displayed in any way to make it stand out above the rest. Just boxes and shelves full of junk. From olden, olden days up to Desert Storm. I have swords leaning against mess kits and protective masks from ww1. Just military junk. If I found a cannon ball from the civil war or revolution, it'd be tossed in with the rest.
  18. I still find it funny that people register a find yet had to ask for help. That shouldn't be allowed. But hey, I'm the new guy so I can't tell people how to play their game. But in the end, some of us earn our finds while others 'cheat'.

  20. Cold and wind chill minus 60 degrees? No thanks. I've experienced frost bite and heat exhaustion. I'll take heat any day.
  21. You know... one way to get into good physical shape is to go out and grab some extreme caches! I disagree. Going after the extremes should only be done if you are already in good physical shape. It might help keep you in top shape but you need to be in pretty good shape already. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. But caches in extreme locations and requiring ropes, harnesses, ice axes, jet packs, crampons, time traveling DeLoreans, and other such fun tools are how I got back into shape. The important part, in my opinion, is the knowledge of how to do these things. The ability and endurance part comes back as you do them. I'd like to read those logs. Can you direct me to them? I don't care about the logs. But can I borrow the DeLorean? With these gas prices? The thing was all steel!
  22. Well it sucks, in my opinion. If this site looked like that, it'd run a lot smoother since no one would use it.
