Premium Member Only caches are elitist!
A & J Tooling replied to smomofo's topic in General geocaching topics
That is the part I love. Can't afford 30 bucks but have a smart phone and pay a lot more then that for all the app's and such they have or a gps'r. Hey, I got an idea. Don't eat out for a few weeks. There, now you have 30 bucks. Problem solved. -
GPS vs Lightsquared wireless spectrum
A & J Tooling replied to spyder8's topic in General geocaching topics
It ain't just the military anymore. You don't realize the amount of problems that would happen if you jammed the gps freqs. airports, banks, police, fire/rescue, most major transportation companies, etc would suffer. -
Aren't you jumping the gun on your favorite of all time cache? Maybe if you label it 'as of this time'? Sorry, ADD kickin' in. I'll shut up now.

Earrings & my wedding ring is usually all I wear. I'd love to find your caches! Think of the children!?! No clothes? For shame! Anyho, as I have yet to hide a cache but as I near the 100 mark, I am starting to fill mine up. Travel bugs/coins, Ninja headbands, fishing lures, money, bunches and bunches of toys, balloons, little packs of handi-wipes, a bunch of old D&D figurines I have had for 30 years now, matchbox/hotwheels vehicles, card sets (sports/comics/pokemon/etc), items I have amassed over the years from all over the world (a chunk of the Berlin Wall, items I traded with other military people during CAT gunnery, hat pins, estate sale stuff, etc(, jewelry, handmade items from me and my kids, some small cache stuff I have made with my tools (hollow nut/bolts, pine cones, gourds, bird houses, etc).

I enjoy being the 1st to nab this year and the year is already half over. Older is fun. Drop a bug and they'll come.

Nets, burlap and tape: Cloth Camo Tips?
A & J Tooling replied to d+n.s's topic in General geocaching topics
I like the idea of the knots. I usually just thread the burlap strips through holes or use rubber bands (something like a rubber band). Of course, I wan't camo'ing a cache but the same principle. -
My nine and ten year olds don't seem to care about the logging part. Maybe because we don't ever allow them online so they don't associate computers with fun. No cellphones either. TV is earned... I know, I'm old fashioned....

If someone forgets their pen...

I drop a golf pencil off at every cache I find that it'll fit in. Excuses are like rear ends... -
Nets, burlap and tape: Cloth Camo Tips?
A & J Tooling replied to d+n.s's topic in General geocaching topics
The biggest give away I've seen in my limited time is the wrong colors of tape being used. Greens when bark should be used and greys/browns when greens snould be used. Pick a bland color clothe of brown/tan/olive drab, slice small 1/2 inch cuts in it and then stuff local foliage in it. Fake is better since real stuff dies off quickly and changes color. -
Good luck.

I recently logged 3 dnf's in a row since every time I try one cache in this area, it is flooded and surronded by some deep mud/water. I always give up after it gets to a certain depth and register it as a dnf. The person before me stated they got there and forgot their pen and are counting it as a find anyway.

GZ Becomes Homeless Residence
A & J Tooling replied to luvvinbird's topic in General geocaching topics
Yeap, I got nothing against someone with no home to live in. I do however have a problem when those people camp out next to a place children tend to go to. -
I feel uncomfortable because I fear the cache getting stolen.

An ammo can in an AHA (Ammo Holding Area).

GZ Becomes Homeless Residence
A & J Tooling replied to luvvinbird's topic in General geocaching topics
We have one near here but since the kid's park was next door, a simple phone call to the authorities removed said person from the area. His belongings are still there and still freak out cachers who come to look here. -
Holy crap! Someone figured it all out! By the way, vanilla is the only real ice cream. Everything else is just added flavor.

Disappointed in Groundspeak

Facebook? Ipad? What are those? -
I was timid at 1st but now my scheme works great (orange vest, clipboard) no one looks twice any more.

Thanks for this informative thread. My unit has been sitting in my key drawer for a month now because I couldn't figure it out. I'll have to give it another try tonight.

More kid crap you dump on here, the more you lose some of the people who don't care for it. Or they'll just ignore it. Either or.

Can't log in to GEOCACHING.COM (but forums ok)
A & J Tooling replied to Catydid's topic in General geocaching topics
I've never had a problem. Maybe we should look at the operator since we all don't seem to have these 'issues'? -
I 1st read it as a threat until I re-read it and it is just stating facts. It was hidden in a place that it shouldn't of been placed is what I see. Home owner associations are usually pretty messed up when it comes to things like this. Kind of Mafia-like. The person in charge usually hires relatives to work the area and takes kick-backs and pays in cash and pockets the rest. I'd be careful invading their turf. Just sayin'..
