  1. Looking for a PC interface cable for the Garmin GPS 72. Can pay by PayPal or ?
  2. I have a black meridian ram mount cradle for sale. Part #RPR-182-MA2. It has been gently used. No cracks. This is a great meridian cradle to mount your color, gold or marine meridian GPSr in a car, boat, RV, bike, etc. This is the cradle only. Asking $8.00 shipped in continental US. Prefer PayPal.
  3. I will give you $40.00 even through PayPal if you include shipping.
  4. The boys says to the girl, 'On three....run like mad!'.
  5. I have a Meridian Marine. It is in the same product line. It is big. You are getting 16MB of memory and an SD slot. The buttons are spaced far enough apart if you have big hands. The screen is larger than some other GPSrs. If you are looking for a good price on a Magellan, I would suggest checking the local Radio Shack. My local store has a new Magellan SporTrack for $99.00. It has 2MB of memory and no SD.
  6. I bought a Magellan attachment for my PalmVx a couple of years ago. It was marked down to $19.99 at CompUSA. After a while, it just took too long to grab a 3D fix. I still have it. I was bitten by the geobug this Summer and bought a Magellan Meridian Marine. I like the larger screen, the SD expansion for maps and the spacing between the buttons for my large hand. I still search pawn shops for the next one, but for now, I like the Meriblue.
  7. We polished off a plastic Skippy peanut butter container and took a second look. We cleaned it out and wrapped it in cammo tape. We then found a larger version when the mayo jar was empty. We clean it out and did the same. We have not placed them yet. Any one else use a plastic Skippy jar?
  8. We search as a family. If we bring a guest along, we include them into the team. As from our low number of finds, we try to keep it a family event.
  9. Yes, I am so sorry not to have mentioned that before. I just did not want to re-write the faq in this thread. In order to verify the .img file and not to be disappointed in the field, a 42" plasma is the only true way to verify the topo. Sure, your 13" Magnavox will show the streets, but...if your caching say in the mountains, or near Malibu perhaps, you need to verify the topo. So....yes. the 42 is a good idea, but get the reader. Not a must, but it will save you face time in your flat screen LCD. Oh did I mention that was the only way to really read the GSAK help buttons and hidden GUI?
  10. It seems that most people would overlook an urban microcacher if dressed as a utilities worker. Does anyone do this to draw attention away from themselves when caching the metropolitan areas?
  11. Yes, do follow the Medidian FAQs. I will share three tips. First, get an SD reader. You can load maps faster than through the serial connection. Second, do not create or load maps larger than the base memory. Finally, you need to create then rename each map. Example, CA.img, FL.img, NYcity.img, Orlando.img, Vegas.img...freebie...load the img files in the root directory of the SD card. Do not load into a folder on the card. The Meridian should look for maps in the root. Have fun. And......do search the FAQs.
  12. I too use a Magellan Meridian. I bought it because of the SD slot. It is not small and works even worse when trying to use as a cell phone when spotted by muggles. The looks you get with a meridian in your ear is that of, 'hey buddy...desert storm is over. Get a smaller cellphone."
  13. If you print google maps or even paper cache, the ink money could be better used towards a CacheMate registration and a GPSr. Sure, you could brag that you found your first 100 without a GPSr, but your ink and paper money could be better applied towards a GPSr. Even without caching, you would be the only person in the office who knows the coordinates of the men's room, breakroom and the best parking space at work. Now that's some braggin' rights!
  14. Welcome to the game! Don't get hung up on the numbers. At the rate you're going, you will pass my numbers next weekend. Then again, I cache to spend time with my kids (ages 3 & 7). I compete only against the fat version of myself that would rather sit behind the computer and caching takes me to places I would not have otherwise gone in most cases. Enjoy the community here on GC.com. Oh, if you leave money as trade items, could you move up north a bit towards Fountain Valley. I have a Garmin fund I would not mind having you contribute to. Welcome aboard fellow SoCal Cacher!
  15. I say if you show your mug, show the silver teeth and half chewed food in your mouth. Not only that, but convince your daughter to do the same because you're celebrating your 39th birthday at Claim Jumper.
  16. A most enjoyable thread indeed. One question, would you use a micro for communion and a camo box for the offering?
  17. Those with enough time could build a gps using this link.
  18. How about locating a cache placed across the park from the cacher who placed it. We think that this happened a few weeks back. A couple were less than 50 yards from the cache and not paying too much attention to us. I grabbed the cache went to the park bench to log it with my team members. We were reluctant to return the cache to it's location until the couple finished their saturday morning yard work. I was convinced somehow that they were the stashers of the cache. I was then worried that they would muggle the cache. After signing up to watch the cache, I saw that others had found it after I did and was more convinced, but probably just paranoid.
  19. I use a Palm Vx with both CacheMate and MobiPocket Reader for viewing pocket queries. The Vx is an older Palm model with a shortened battery life. I may soon pick up another Palm with replacement batteries. Oh, I can connect the Palm Vx to the Magellan Meridian using the serial cables and a gender changer, but the GPSr has an SD card. No need to carry more cables or to connect the two in the field.
  20. We recently started a Flickr photo page.
