A late entry by the Blorenges very nearly changed my mind on this one as I did like the pebble jenga towers, but I decided to stick with my initial instinct and go with I! as the winner. Congratulations and over to you for the July competition...

May Photo competition is HERE Thanks to Nick and Ali for the May competition and for choosing my photo as the winner. The rules are the same as those used in previous months. 1) The photo must be cache related and to do with a specific UK cache (any type including events), caching series or caching trip - please include a link to the cache or the GC.... code so we can see where the picture relates to. 2) Max two photos per caching team or cacher. (Maybe 3 if you really have an extra pic that's great!) 3) A new thread is started each month, with the OP stating these rules. 4) The winner each month is decided by the winner from the previous month - the new winner starting the thread for the subsequent month. They may set a theme if they wish. 5) Photos should be recent. Higher credit will be given to photos taken in the current month. 6) The competition runs from the 1st of the month, until a date specified in the OP by the previous months winner. This should give sufficient time for the winner (or other person if necessary) to start the new thread. If you haven't already uploaded a photo, a good tip might be to upload it to one of your log entries (it can just be 'post a note'). Then, view your log (not the cache page) click & display the photo, then copy the URL to provide a link. If it's not actually relevant to the cache you've used, delete the note and the photo - the URL will still work. On this forum, add a reply and click the small green tree icon above the text box and paste in your URL. Looking forward to seeing the entries and will choose a winner on June 30th. (Although I think that it will be a very tough job!)

I certainly don'tthink that everyone should have to pay for full membership - I don't think that I would have tried geocaching if I'd had to pay straight away and I've now been caching for just over a year. I don't think that making some caches members only is a bad thing though - once I realised I enjoyed it I was quite happy to pay for membership as I think the cost is really reasonable for a whole year.

Am having trouble putting up a photo - have tried to follow the instructions and put it in from a log and have also tried to put it in from a link to my flickr account. I just press the tree iconto insert image and paste in the URL but every time I get the message "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board." Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks for the advice - like the look of both of these, although think we'll have to give the tree climbing a miss this time. Will keep it in mind for future visits though.

This weekend we are going to stay near Lymington and I was wondering if there are any caches in the area that should not be missed. I have agreed to go to the Motor Museum to look at Bond cars on Sunday if we can go caching on Saturday so I want to make them good ones!

No idea what ceremonial purpose they are used for but aren't they used to poison someone in a Poirot novel?!

I read the cache page before reading the rest of this thread and I knew what was required to get the cache. I see from the rest of the posts that changes have been made - I don't know what it was like before but as it stands now I think it's pretty obvious. If people choose not to read all the information then they are going to have trouble sometimes, I always read the cache page in case there is this kind of extra information to be gained.

Funnily enough, the first (and only so far) time we have been asked what we were up to was on our 100th cache and we were looking for a clue rather than the container itself as it was a puzzle cache with several stages. We were obviously looking a little lost and a couple of men nearby asked what we were doing. We went with the 'vague but true' response that we were playing a game that was a little like a treasure hunt and trying to find a clue to lead us in the right direction. They seemed to accept that, although one of the men said he'd look out for a story in the paper about 2 skeletons being found in the woods with a gps! That did worry us a little!

A team of cachers maybe? I do like a search of cachers or a confusion of cachers, that last one would describe me most days! Hmm, I think that perhaps it depends on how the hunt has gone. Sometimes a squabble, gaggle or commotion of cachers would be most appropriate. Very occasionally it feels like a murder of Geocachers may be the right term! One thing's for sure though, we always endeavour not to be a litter or destruction of cachers!

In my experience the HTC Wildfire which my husband owns has been more reliable for caching than my sony xperia, but I guess that might be the networks we are on rather than the actual phone. (I'm with orange but can't remember if his is with three or O2 now.) Wildfire generally seems to be a good phone too, he's never had any complaints about it.

Playing devil's advocate here but is it the fault of the person who posted the videos or the fault of the person using them for a different purpose to that which was intended? It never even occurred to me when I watched them (before all the hype) that I could find out which caches they are because that's not how I choose to play the game. To me they were merely a form of entertainment and a chance to see some interesting hides, the likes of which I haven't seen before.

I think I agree with Amberel's take on this - personally I have to know that I have contributed significantly to the finding of the cache and could have/would have got it myself if I had been on my own. It's a little trickier for me because Hawkins2 is a joint account so I suppose if one day there was one that Mr H could do but I couldn't it would technically be ok but I think I would even feel uncomfortable logging under those circumstances as it was me who originally signed up and I do all the logging online. I certainly would never log one if he found one when I wasn't there - if he started caching without me then I would have to get him to open his own account to log his own finds as then my stats wouldn't be right for me. (Not saying it is wrong to cache separately under one account, just that personally I want to be able to look at my stats and know that I contributed to finding all of them.) However, I digress. In terms of the cache not being there I would not log it as found even if I was sure where it should have been. To me I have to actually find a cache. If I can't sign it for whatever reason then I will try to prove my finding it some other way although this has not yet happened to me.

Hmm, this new information changes my opinion slightly. While it was the nuclear bunker 'spoiler' that seemed to be an issue I felt it was very unfair as the video showed no more about the cache than other people's photos on the cache page - as was pointed out by an earlier poster who linked to the photos. This seemed to be making one rule for one person and another rule for everyone else. Knowing that more than one cache owner complained, I think that Groundspeak didn't really have much choice but to be seen to take action, they found themselves in a no win situation as there would have been complaints about their actions whatever decision they made. I'm not saying that either side is right or wrong but it now seems to make more sense to me.

I posted a comment about the actual videos in a previous thread so I won't repeat myself here. If those videos are the cause for the ban then I feel it has been VERY unfair. However, I do get the feeling that there may be more to this than we know. (Not basing this on any knowledge or facts so sorry if I am wrong!)
