  1. I like the OYR caches, had fun looking for them around the country, and do stop to eat there because of the caches. For all the haters; once places start banning caches, others will follow. This can easily lead to most urban areas being listed as off limits. If the corperate folks are worried about liability, then I bet the towns and counties that run park systems will take notice. First they came for my Wal-Mart lamp pole skirts and I said nothing..... Just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary
  2. we could save a bundle on running the forums by just posting random "I hate Micros, Micros are lame, LPS are lame, Logging found when not really found, and Peanut jars can kill you" threads. Those topics seem to make up 90% of the threads anyway. /Just kidding //Mostly
  3. If I am impressed with the amount of finds someone has, I will look at there stats or profile. If i see the same cache found 20 times, I am no longer impressed. I have a couple of double logs, all with a good resaon, ie moving cache back in the day, or a cache that has been rehid in a new spot. I did the "its not about the numbers" stats on my own, and found a couple that I had accidently logged twice at GW3, so I deleted the finds. Makes me wonder which two I missed.
  4. one froody coin, I hope I can get one...or 42
  5. GW5 rocked!!! , no problems, food was great. We served about 1500 people in 36 minutes! Thanks to all those you helped out, and all those who atteneded!
  6. well it has now happened to one of mine. I have a nice virtual that is being abused by folks overseas. C'mon, do you really think you came to the USA for one day, to log one cache on a very small out of the way island? I think I'm becoming a Criminal convert.
  7. the screen cracked on my etrex after one too many drops, it is now the antenea for my laptop
  8. yeah, what they said. Welcome to the sport, have fun!
  9. Team CHB has done 2 true 5/5s. Both were mentally tough and physically challenging, ie you could get real dead real fast. Both are now disabled. Tube Torcher http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...56-f5b0614d7404 and High Water http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...4c-4ed373dddbb9
  10. That's exaclty the intent here. Happens all the time in that area. Wow, I had heard of such things but never really believed it. What a silly thing to do.
  11. How do you know the temps will be logged as finds, and that they are not part of the event for a door prize or raffle or something? If these are temps that will be "logged" by logging mutliple "finds" to the event, then I agree, pretty lame.
  12. I wish. No, that's what 'working with' the parks people are going to get us in WA. We got the same in New York, it was 'us' that went to 'them' --- now we need permits. Better than them getting irked over caches that they found were there, and then 'them' coming to 'us' and saying that caches are banned in our State Parks. this is no longer an "underground" game. Parks and lands are aware of us, and there will be more written polices in the future. I think is is better to have to jump through a few hoops than to have land managers ban geocaches entirely. just my $0.02, your mileage may vary
  13. ther are even some k00ks who will search all your records and logs here
  14. NC 158 will take you to the Outer banks just south of Duck. That is the northern most route. Next crossing is NC 64 via manteo. You can take a ferry from the mainland to okracoke
  15. NC state parks do not aloow them but SC and VA do. Try Cary, it is directly south of Umstead, has tons of parks and caches
  16. Don't get me wrong, it is a good Film, and Nora did a great job. I am gulity of some less than polite words that got caught in the pitch flim she made first.
  17. As long as you do not claim a find on line, seems fine with me
