  1. Me 35, Annette 29, Woody, all of 8 months! Ah, bless (and he found 'Bashful' for us!)
  2. Hopefully, all the sweeter when you get your 200? Better luck next time!
  3. Andy33 told me all about it, but I didn't think much more on it. Then Walton Wanderer (soon to be Andy33's son-in-law and finace of my wife's best friend) got a gps for TA stuff. He took me out to do a cache and show me what it did (strangely, one of Andy33's. Keep it in the family!) and I was hooked!! It wasn't long before my wife, Annette, came with me and she was hooked too! I had to change our id from Woody's Wanderer to Woody's Wanderers This w/end we completed Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.....with Walton Wanderer and fiancee!!
  4. Good news for all of you who haven't been speeding!!
  5. Re: stickers Try the following: - http://www.fingertech.co.uk/gps_geocaching.html British site. I ordered stuff at 4pm on Friday and it was delivered at 10.30am the next day (and it would have been sooner, but our poor postie was weighed down with recorded's that day!) Hope that helps!
  6. Got the cheap batteries and charger from Argos and they work fine in my eTrex Legend. Bonus is, the charger comes with a cigarette lighter adapter so I can top them up in the car between caches if necessary!
  7. My local 'cleaning products booklet' organiser puts them in great ziploc bags and then never comes back to pick them up! Recycle the contents and keep the bag!
  8. Although I don't watch Eastenders, I just looked at a screenshot of the actor. I'm sure that he played a pro card player called Robbie Box or similar in a series a few years back. He was the main character but I'm blowed if I can remember ithe programme name. I'm surprised to say that I can still "hear" his voice, and it obviously is Mr Benn. Now I'm perplexed as to why I didn't pick that up back in the '80s. I remember that one too and yes, it was him. Cant recall the program name though. Hector's House - that was my favorite from the early 70's, although I think it was specific to Southern TV (as Meridian used to be called, before TVS etc). There are, of course, all these: - Jamie and the Magic Torch Charlton and the Wheelies Clooper Castle Noggin the Nog (just wouldn't be allowed now!) I've got a Handful of Songs to Sing You Ivor the Engine Will o' the Wisp (what was the mad TV called?!?) Tickle on the Tum Ah the good ol' days. Songs you could sing to with proper tunes etc etc!
  9. Don't know about the scrathes, but maybe you could tell her/him it's time to upgrade and buy a new one? A bit drastic, but I'm sure s/he'll be chuffed and you'll get to keep the spare as your own!
  10. That's our cache! And we thought that the first to find were nutters too! We were expecting Andy33 to get there 1st but he's been waylaid. Get well soon Andy! There were no FTF certs in this cache cos it's only small (8cm in diameter). Hopefully that'll make you feel better.
  11. Your Household insurance wont be of much use. Although it provides Public Liability (PL) cover, it only covers the P/holder and permanant residents at the risk (i.e. home) address. I think the Ranger was thinking of cover is newbies went off with anyone. Your best bet is to speak to an insurance broker (in this instance, small and independent is often best!) There are plenty of policies that provide one day cover for school fetes etc, with PL cover as standard and should be fairly cheap. In an ideal world, people would just accept the risk - 'Oh, I fell down. Clumsy me!' We know they don't though, so it's better to be safe than sorry when dealing with the General Public good luck with your event and endeavours!
  12. Final one, then I'll leave you in peace! Is there anywhere that I can convert decimal lat & long to WGS84 (e.g. 51.356736 to 51 degrees 21.404)? Also can grid references be converted to WGS84 as well? Thank you kindly!
  13. Thanks Kitty Hawk and kbootb! Those are exactly what I meant. Thanks for the links as well, very interesting.
  14. Can anyone help me with a query please? Dotted around the countryside near us (Epsom, Surrey) there are a series of bright white metal posts. Each one is rectangular about 3 feet tall with a sloping top. they have a St George's cross painted on a white shield near the top and below that a series of numbers and then 'CAP 42' on a seperate line. There are 2 or 3 on the downs and at least one on Ashtead Common that I know off. They're all well looked after because they all look like they were painted in the last few months. any ideas gratefully received! Thanks!
  15. I wasn't expecting music and with speakers turned full up from 'WoW' it made me jump! Maybe they didn't see anything suspicious in that 'pile of twigs all aligned north/south?' Perhaps they should start employing cachers to assist?
  16. If a TB is dropped off in one of our own caches, is it the 'done thing' to go and collect it or is this frowned upon? Should we be leaving it for other cachers to pick up? Just after some views. Thanks,
  17. You mean I don't have to done camouflage gear and kitten crawl thru the mud for every cache I seek?!? Darn! I might keep doing it anyway, cos I like it!
  18. Looks like the nie pin cable I've already got! Thanks for your help though. Better save the pennies! No, it is: "Ebuyer Extra Value USB to Serial 9 Way adapter" It has a USB on one end an 9-pin serial on the other. Alright! Told you I was computer illiterate. Thanks for correcting me.
  19. Groan! Truely dreadful jokes! Thanks for making me chuckle though! Agree that lock 'n' store boxes are better, didn't know they were so cheap though! You guys are the best!
  20. I'm lead to understand that a certain spread manufacturer (begins in Fl and ends in ora, but I'm not mentioning any names ) is giving away free lunchboxes with their product! Makes putting a cache together even cheaper! (Not connected in anyway, just 'spreading' the word!)
  21. Just waned to say a big thanks to Eckington! He's been very helpful, not to say patient, when dealing with a quandry we had. Hopefully I've done enough to sort it out now! Thank you kindly.
  22. Opinion Not a bad idea, maybe using a guide similar to the successful "Just off the Motorway Guide" for reference, after all a break usually requires relief or refreshment. What?!? Miss out on watery coffee and overpriced fuel?!? You must be mad!! That's actually a genius idea and gets my vote!
