  1. I night only icon would be nice since it would be very easy for those pulling querries can easily select or deselect that icon. I purposely deselect the mystery icon since the cahe is not at the posted location most times. If I were to go on a night cache run, it would be very easy for me to run a quick querry for these caches and plan my evening. There are some caches in my area where the night only attr is not checked and therefore would not pull into my querry.
  2. I have been messing around with mine since it got here. Except I only paid 230 for mine with shipping. I do have a question to ask for those who have owned the 60Cx for a while. Are any of you using Geobuddy? Or something else to download your hints onto your unit? I amd just not into the steep learning curve of GSAK.
  3. After the meeting (next few days), could you give us a couple of details. Am interested in hearing a little more about what some of the plans are. Thanks. Tsun Meeting is tomorrow but there is supposed to be a 4H horse show the same week end at the other end of the fair grounds. Just horsin around may want to check it out! Someone from SEIGO will post again soon. http://www.seigosite.com/ Nice new website. 4H days are over for me. It's strictly trail and rodeos I had wondered if there was an area to trailer in horses or if anyone else was planning on bringing theirs with. Then I had to remind myself that this was a geocaching event, not a geocacher trail riders meeting Oh well, guess I'll just bring my banjo instead Yes, I really do have one but I'm still not that good. I know I can't wait for the event!!!
  4. Count me in! My boss raised an eyebrow when I scheduled sick days prior to being sick!!
  5. Ahhh Weedhopper! You seek answers from a whacky group! The coins started out as a signature item. When I first started geocaching, I put an american flag sticker I found at the store in each cache I found. They were cheap. People took them. They were trade items. Then someone made a "geocoin". It was a signature item that was a step up. It was personal. It had your name on it You liked it, you traded for it. You could start a collection of signature items. Some people still do. Now only Travel Bugs were trackable at the time. Then someone wanted to make their signature item trackable too. Several sites came up (and still exist) places to track their signature items. A lot of State Organizations started it first. The history continues.... Basically, signature items can be kept (traded). What geocaching started out as and most people still do. A geocoin is another version of a Travel Bug. You trade for it, but don't keep it. And don't sell on the E site. There are two kinds of geocoins out there. 1) Activated Unactivated The activated coin is owned. You should not keep or sell others possessions, correct? Unactivated coins are sometimes placed as First To Find (FTF) prizes. The findee is free to do what they want with the coin. It is not owned, correct? A seller sells you a coin. Yours to do with as you please - simple transaction. Then it gets kind of technical... Another collector trades a coin with you. If it is a purchased coin that is traded, the new owner could do what they want with the coin. A traded personal coin still belongs to the original creator. It was not sold to the first holder of the coin, just traded. The new owner should understand that the personal - not paid for coin - is not theirs. I, along with others, do not want others to sell our personal coins. You are tired of your collection? Sell me back my coin. Or at least ask me if I want to buy it. I think this should help you to slightly understand that.... No one knows what the heck is going on and the geocoin collecting mania is Whacky. Because I sure am whacky! Thanks a million for setting me straight nscaler! I will obey as your numba wun sun. I thought something was wrong when I saw a bunch of activated coins on Ebay a while back, but apparabtly they were for someone who has fallen on hard times. Still I did not think it was correct being activaed coins and all.
  6. OK... I had to make a reply. 1. There is no scientific evidence that the hole in the o-zone is caused by gas guzzling SUV's despite what the hypocrits like Al Gore want you the believe. Cows and trees product more CO2 than all petrolieum cars combined. Car and Track has a good articale on it. 2. SUV's do "ake you feel safe" is a farse. My .357 magnum maes me feel safer. However, most women feel safer in a ride that is higher off the ground than the afore-mentioned Mazda Miata. So buy what the woman feels safe in. 3. Those SUV owners who feel they need to hog the road, need to have the vehicle stripped of the mud tires and replaced with regular Mazda tires since there is no law against being stupid on the road. Those folks who drive in my lane, I pull over a little closer to them and make them move over since they can't drive with courtesy. 4. Those 4x4 owners who feel they need to go off-road and then feels the need to cover their said vehicle in mud from top to bottom need to be stripped of their rides and handed a bicycle for life. Tread lightly and save the Earth for others to enjoy. 5. Who cares if a SUV only gets 9 miles per gallon? Why is it everyone else's problem? The only person who it should matter to is the schmuck who buys the SUV. No one complains about million dollar homes until they show up in their back yards. Basically, it is the owner and no one else who has to pay for the gas. Correct? Again, lok back to point number 1. 6. While speaking about point number one, we are being duped into thinking it is only the oil that causes the o-zone hole. The environ-anal-ists neglect to remember that only 50,000 years ago, we were in a ice age that had the top half of the Earth covered. So yes, there is global warming, but the Earth has been warming up for over 50,000 years! That is called a natural evolution! All in all, have a 4x4 if you want. Just be considerate of others around you and the environment. Otherwise, we should weed out the gene pool a little bit...
  7. OK. I am lost on the subject. So I go and have a coin made that is trackable, but someone decides tat they like it, and so they keep it. Then it ends up on eBay a while later for sale. So why would I buy a coin then? Why does someone collect them? This is where is get confused. I have passed on coins before since I thought the owner wanted them to move on. Help???
  8. OK. This is such a dangerous topic that I believe we should have some information out there. Since a lot of cachers will find things such as this, but do not hang out in the forums area, I believe it would be best if we could have a few our of fellow cachers who also moonlight as law enforcement help us all out. I agre with a previous posting to have something out on Geccaching.com as a way to help out our unsung heroes by giving them GPS coords while in our searches. I am on the fence with another cacher who said we might want to start packing while out on a hunt. I usually pack a bb gun for snakes, but would hate to trade that in for a .357. This is supposed to be a fun sport. But then again, times are a changin. We should all be careful out there regardless of how "safe" it seems to be.
  9. I guess i am getting lost in the whole of the topic. First, I am an Idaho cacher. I have seen some bridge caches before, but none to this extreme. Second, the guy had to scale the bridge to get the shackles nailed into the bridge pillar so he could use a pulley system. To me, that was too much trouble to have to go through to even been approved as a geo cache. At first I felt sorry for the guy an was even willing to set him up with my lawyer in case of need. Now, I feel that he should be on his own, and has probably brought a little shame to the sport. Just my thoughts and thoughts of some other fellow geocachers in Idaho.
