  1. I cannot get into the payment.geocaching.com area of the web site.
  2. I contacted the Help Center per your suggestion. I didn't have much hope that they would help me out but I got a message this morning that they have changed my profile name form Travelingsages to Sages. I am a happy camper now. Thanks, cerberus1.
  3. My profile name is 14 characters long so it creates a problem when I need to sign a narrow log . I am thinking about changing my profile name and I know how to do that. My questions are this: 1. Can I create an aka (also known as) so that I could write a shorter name on the logs but still have them use my existing names when they appear on the found logs? 2. What happens to the log prior finds if I change my name? Does the new name appear on all of my old finds or will my name appear two different ways depending on when the find is created? 3. I found a user name that is short and would work for me, and my friends would know who I was, but it is taken. The person created this username in 2015 and has never filled in any profile information and has not placed or found any caches. Is there a way to have geocaching.com delete this user so I could use it?
  4. Can I use the filters to search for the Ancient Wonders before completing the Modern Wonders? I would like to make a list of the Ancient ones in advance so that I am ready to go when I complete the Modern Wonders.
  5. I was sure hoping that someone from headquarters would see this and comment. Are they aware of the problem? Is it being worked on? When might we expect to see a fix? Unfortunately I don't see anything from them.
  6. I have the geocaching iPhone app version 8.7.0 and it has worked fine. This morning I updated my IOS to 13.2 on my iPhone XR. Now when I have the geocaching app open and navigating to a cache the map turns black for an instant and then reloads. This is repeated continuously and the map will flash black from once a second or less often to twice a second. What is going on and how do I make the map seamlessly refresh. By the way, this only happens as I am moving. I noticed it in the car as I was moving but it will do it as I walke too. It does not do this if I am standing in one place. I have deleted and reloaded the app with no help. Now I have just discovered it is tied in with the map type I am using. It does it with a Trails map but is fine with Street, Satellite and Hybrid. Of course I like the trails map because I cache in the desert and it is nice to be able to see the trails as well as the roads, etc.
  7. I use the Visited date that shows on the website under Friends. It is handy to see how close the friend is to a major milestone or to see when they were last active on geocaching. The issue is that this date appears to only update if the user goes into the geocaching.com website directly. This is more a geeky computer report on web access. Who cares! I have read that 60% of the users are now using the phone app. A user can access the geocaching information and even log new finds on the app but it does not reflect on the website data. This makes this information useless. I would strongly recommend that this be changed to Activity and reflect the last date a user placed a log or note into the database from either the website or the geocaching app.
  8. I was out caching today with my iPhone and noticed that if I held the phone parallel with the ground and flat or bottom side down then the compass would work fine. If I held it in my hand and hung my and down so that the phone was on its edge but still parallel with the ground then the compass acted up. If I put the phone in my shirt pocket so that the top of the phone was up then it worked. Position of the phone seems to be the issue. As I had mentioned earlier, opening the compass app on the phone and then switching to the geocaching app would fix the compass direction. Then I can simply switch between the compass app and the geocaching app to get the compass in the geocaching app to work again. By the way, I have downloaded the most current version of the geocaching app and that did not resolve the compass problem.
  9. I hope that someone from Geocaching.com monitors these threads because us users have some good input. 10. Yes, that has helped me with my iPhone 7Plus running IOS 12.1.2. I had my geocaching app compass navigating to a cache and the compass arrow was basically pointing 180* the wrong way and North was not pointing north. My map would show the direction line and distance to the cache correctly. I opened the iPhone compass app and saw that North was where it should be so leaving it open I went back to my geocaching app and the compass there was correct and I could navigate to the cache. Unfortunately, this did not last over a couple of minutes so I would go back to the iPhone compass app again and then return to the geocaching app compass which would be pointing the right way again. This is a clumsy workaround but it helped. I am really wondering if there is a problem with the geocaching app and how it refreshes that compass from the phone.
  11. Is there a way to project a waypoint from within the geocaching app for iPhone?
  12. The yellow dot finally went away when I exchanged new messages with the same person. Reading the new message toggled the dot off on the old message.
  13. I have a message that shows up in the app with a yellow dot indicating that this is a new message. I cannot click on the message and get it to display in full. The yellow dot therefore does not go away and it continues to show as a new message.I have opened and read the entire message on the website but that did not clear it in the app. The attached picture shows the yellow dot on both the message and on the Messages icon. Can anyone help me with this?
  14. I agree. I would like to clean up my message list too.
  15. Thanks for your reply. I guess that I assumed that all messages now went through the Message Center. I didn't realize that you could still send emails through the profile.
  16. I received an email from geocaching.com this morning that said I had a message from a fellow geocacher. I read the message in the email and went to both geocaching.com and to the iPhone app to reply. Neither location had this new message in my list of messages. I waited four hours and still cannot see the message. Where has this message gone and why can't I see it on geocaching.com or the app?
  17. I was just about to start a new thread when I came across this one. My iPhone will say it is 246 feet (or whatever) from the cache. The compass indicator works. I then walk toward the cache and the footage stays at 246 feet. I have found that I can close the compass page and then select the compass page again and the distance will refresh. It still locks at this new distance however. When I get to about 60 feet away, the proximity alarm goes off and when I hit ok to go back to the compass page I find that it has refreshed the distance again. It still freezes the distance however. I have tried deleting the geocaching app and reinstalling but this did not help. It did not used to do this on my phone. I don't know if it is app related or phone related but it sure messes up my geocaching experience.
  18. Add me to the list that the proximity sound is annoying. Please make a switch in the settings to allow us to turn it off.
  19. I created a test draft on my iPhone app and saved it. I checked on geocaching.com that it entered the text in my personal cache note which is where I wanted it. I went back to the app and cannot see where in the menu that I can edit this draft or read it. Specifically, how do I get back to the draft on the app? I don't see the three lines that your note refers to. Secondly, I want to be able to read all of my drafts, or personal cache notes, in the app. I often get calls from friends that want a hint when I am away from my laptop. I want to be able to read these notes in the app. Can I do this? How?
  20. I just checked and seem to be getting all of he logs now.. Thanks.
  21. Is anyone else having this issue? Shouldn't we be getting the full list of logs?
  22. Two of us using the new iPhone app were checking a dozen new caches today. Normally we can get all the logs under Activity although sometimes you get a note the wait for more to show. We were both connected to cable internet and were consistently getting 5 logs only. Some of the dozen caches would display all of the logs for one of us but not for the other one. Then we connected to Verizon wireless and started getting more complete sets of logs. I haven't seen this happen before. I can see them all on my laptop so it must be an issue with the app rather than geocaching.com.
  23. Are you running the special My Finds PQ, or setting a standard PQ to return caches you have found? A standard PQ does have a lot of limitations with caches, that the special My Finds PQ does not... I am running the pocket query at the bottom of the query page. My point in posting to this thread was to see if others were having the same problem. Since I am looking for three year old finds I can't remember if I actually posted the logs or not. I guess I will have to just chalk it up to overlooking posting the log. That is strange to me because I drove about 340 miles round trip to get these caches and can't imagine forgetting to log them.
  24. I went to your profile, and started going back in time. It took a lot of clicking to get back to February of 2013, but your finds from that time are still listed there, with red strikeouts to denote the archived caches. But I cannot find those three cache finds in the Quartzsite, AZ area in the list of My Finds. I agree that there are finds in this time period and that there are ones that have red strikeouts. I am positive that I logged those finds that are now missing.
  25. I have a similar issue. In January, 2013 I drove to Quartzsite, AZ and I distinctly remember finding three caches. I logged the finds. I was going to drive through Quartzsite again in February of the year so I did a query of geocaches Including finds in the area. The three caches that I had found have apparently been archived and no longer show on the map. Neither do my smiley faces. I then did a query of My Finds and imported it into GSAK. I did a search by name of one of the caches and it does not come up on the find list. It appears to me that somehow the three caches got archived and after some period of time the find log went away. I get all of the emails from geocaches.com and have received notice of logs deleted by the cache owner but I never received any notice about these three caches. Does anyone know what is happening? It is disconcerting to think that I might continue to loose finds as caches are archived.
