  1. A friend frim work introduced me to the hobby by way of the iphone app. I was immediatley hooked, and find it very enjoyable to get out and explore new things, and the enviroment. I seem to be the only one in my house with such motivation to go caching, but its what I love to do. Otherwise, I'm playing video games and just wasting time away. I really enjoy this hobby, and just wished I knew some friends who felt the same. The guy that introduced it to me, seems to have lost interest. Cant wait to find that next great geocoin!
  2. Ok, You guys will get a kick out of this one! LMAO I have been tracking a coin that was adopted over to me, since April of last year http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=2f92a53e-279a-408f-a5c8-250ee2975c8b The coin is not only in the same state as I, but was just recently logged by the cacher (who has it in their possession), as visiting a cache I had just logged as found the day prior!! Hmm... Think about that! The mission is to get as close to my home city as possible, so that I can pick it up. This coin was litterally right down the street from me!! Granted, the cache was to small to drop the coin in, but the owner is still taking it around and visiting other caches? Ok, at least I know its in good hands right? Well ive posted a note on the mission page, and have even emailed them....no response! Now after looking into its travel, heres another peculiar thing: the coin was originally suppose to come from texas (by its orig owner), but coincidentally it was first witnessef and moved by the same person who has it right now (not tge orig owner)????? Wow! Now, what am I missing here? Chk it out for yourself at the above link. All i can do is wait, and wait until its eventually dropped.
  3. Guys, I just found this thread, and will definetly be interested next year!!
  4. This answered my question. Thank you. As for stealing anything, thats not in my character. I will ALWAYS move your coins/or anything else for that matter, unless it specifically states that I may keep the item.
  5. I see that there is a place to collect your own coins, but where could you put coins that you've found in the field? It would be cool if you could log them, and there would always be a small picture of the coin in your inventory, even if you've released it. Is this already feasible, and I just dont know how to do it? Any feedback would be helpful, Thanks
  6. I also recieved nickels from "Boots" and "slowdownracer"! Thanks fellas, they look great!
  7. You are very welcome Sivota! Again, I apologize that it didnt get there in time for Easter. Glad to exchange gifts with you! Next time, instead of gummy bears, maybe I can get you to send me some Bratwurst! LOL!!!
  8. Thanks for the nickel Boots, look foward to seeing it! Ya, Louisville is the best kept secret, didn't you know? Kentucky Derby coming up, come on down here and place some bets, and drink some mint tulips! Oh ya, find some great caches while your add it!

    Confused?

    Very simple answer, thank you!
  11. Alright, I have to reply to this! Some of you act lije this is some sacred game, or should have a 'need-to-know' basis. Like its a fraternity that you must be invited in! God for bid I pull out my I-phone and find your cache, while dropping a sig item or geocoin mind you. Know one individual owns the 'sport' (as many call it), of GEOCACHING. I mean what hapoens when you find alk your caches in your area? You wait for more to be published right? Some of which are from NOOBS! You were once a noob yourself, correct? Im speaking to everyone against growth of caching of course. It sounds selfish, and puts a negative spin on the sport if you ask me! This world and enviroment was put here for EVERYONE to explore, not just the ones who own GPSR's, but even the weekend warriors who possess an I-phone. Groundspeak is not being pessimistic and discriminating, so why should you? Allow everyone to experience this vast world we live in by geocaching. One or two bad apples dobt spoil the bunch! Continue to educate the new comers, and teach them how to respect things around them. This is how i see it, its not about you...its about everyone sharing a piece of something great!

    Confused?

I know i could probably find this answer somewhere, but i thought i could prob get a reply much faster: so here is my questiom: What does it mean to discover a coin, and what benefits you to do so?
  13. email sent to help thanks mlrs1996, you helped me figure this thing out and I'm greatful for it. Now, I can sit back and track this coin
  14. I sent an email a while back to Penny & Kon, but didnt hear anything back. Maybe i messed something up on my end, who knows. But if u look at the travel bug page, it does say "adopted to nelmel". Strange! I dont want to sound like Im panicking, or anything seriously, i just wanted to touch base to see if there was something I had to do on my end! No worries!
  15. If my adopted coin was last seen in the hands of the owner, and does not show it being in a cache...is it safe to say it hasnt been placed yet? Even though it was released earlier this month? Ive also seen pisrs by others sayibg you can edit the info on your newly adopted coin ( page), but i dont see an option for that. Im just curious, thanks!

  22. Louisville Cache Day! Intro: Scheduled for 3.20.11; Event begins @ 9:00am eastern I am a new cacher that just discovered the sport a week ago, and seeking other individuals in my area to go out and cache. I couldn't schedule this event on the calendar, so I'm putting it here instead. My intentions for this is just to meet others with the same interests as far as caching. This is not a Mega event, just a meet up and go cache kind of thing. I would like to meet @9:00am easter, at Heine Bro. coffee on Bardstown Rd (across from Sullivan University). We could drink some coffee before we go, get acquainted and then let the adventure begin. Kids and families are welcome. I will be bringing my son and daughter with me, might even be able to talk my wife into going! I don't have any specific caches picked out, so it will just be a random thing. The cache event will go from 10:00 a.m to about 3:00pm. Afterwards, we will be going to cherokee park to grill some hamburgers and hotdogs. You are more than welcome to join us. This is scheduled for this Sunday, so please contact me if you would like to attend. Contact Info: Larry Nelson (502) 338-2635 or drewboy.nelson@gmail.com Once again, this just a quick meet up for caching in Louisville, Ky. Those that would like to meet local cachers, please feel free to stop by. Thanks, nelmel
  23. Thats a sharp looking coin, wouldnt mind finding one in my mailbox
  24. Couple questions related here: 1. What is SWAG? 2. What are sig items? 3. And how the heck do I get my avatar to show up? I've put in a couple of photos (w/correct dimensions) and still no avatar. Any ideas? / Thanks nelmel
  25. I would like to accept an adopted coin if possible. I would like to see how it works. I just started Geocaching last week, and have 5 cache's discovered. Been reading up on the coin game, and very interested what is going on with all this travel stuff and adopting out? kini_ont (user here in the forums) was kind enough to put a coin in the mail for me, to start my collection! But if someone would adopt a coin to me so I can see travel, I would be grateful to you as well. Thank you nelmel louisville, ky
