  1. Hi! I have the Garmin V too and I have had the same problem. According to our research it's because the unit is trying to guess wehre you are and assuming you are going the same direction. When you change direction or it looses the sat it takes a few minutes for the unit to catch up. Something like that. Also, did you switch to off road? That will also help.
  2. OK, finally!! I guess that 16,000 I am paying Chubb is finally paying off!
  3. Hi. Way cool on maybe coming to the Northeast. My husband and I live in New Jersey, but we do go to DC for the weekend sometime. We would love to cache with you I'm sure. Finding a place to live for a few months may not be an easy thing. I was a contract worker for awhile and finding someplace to let you rent for three - four months was VERY difficult. Is there an agency that you can contact to help you out? Maybe the agency you are going to work for could help. Health insurance is also a hard thing. Are you covered now? If so, find out if there is anyway they could cover you here. Insurance is extremely expensive if you have to get single coverage (instead of group coverage like we get at work). My parents have to pay for PART of their own and it's like 700/month. OK, now that the bad parts are out of the way!! Being is DC is cool, there are a lot of places to see/do. You are only about 5 hours from NY, Baltimore is right there, Philadelphis is about 3 hours away. I'm sure there is a lot more that I don't know about. In DC itself there are lots of things. All the capital stuff plus the Smithsonian. I love to go there, but I have a hard time getting past the Air and Space museum. ApK stops there and it takes me nagging all day to go see something else!! There's also the mint, and oh, bunches of stuff!! Good luck!! keknj
  4. I've heard the nail polish thing for chiggers, not ticks. I think it's the alcohol in the stuff that stops the itch, but I could be WAY off base!! keknj

  6. Doesn't work on mine either. Thought I was loosing it there for awhile. I was positive I had read it was supposed to do that. Glad I'm not the only one!! keknj
  7. Sounds good to me. ApK and I would attend. ptk:I would be willing to help, just let me know what you need. For me personally Memorial Day is good but July 4th is out(gotta work).

  9. Thanks. I didn't think it would be right to make it a travel bug without permission. I'll just have to find another item.
  10. We did our first night cache about two weeks ago. Planned to do it in the daylight but thanks to delays it was dark by the time we got to the site. I learned some very important lessons: 1) ALWAYS take the big mag light. The little one in my purse doesn't do diddly in the *REAL* dark. 2) Stickers are impossible to see in the dark and they will attach themselves and tangle in your clothes in every possible place. 3) Those cute little leafless, twiggy baby trees will find every open place on your head.....eyes, nose(my absolute least favorite!!)ears. You cannot see those in the dark and it is always a suprise!! 4) Tree branches rubbing together sound just like car doors screeching open. Once I got my heart settled down from that one....we found the cache!!

  12. Hi!! I'm new to geocaching and am interested in placing a travel bug. There is a popular item from a local cache that I would like to use. I have contacted the cache's owner to ask permission, but I have not received a response (has been almost two weeks). My question is, should I place it without the owners permission? I would appreciate any guidance. Thanks!!
