At a Myrtle Beach Cache, we were looking for a cache at a closed miniature golf course. The police circled about 3 times before finally stopping and asking us what we were doing. I didnt think of telling the truth, I just said, studying palm trees, we're from West Virginia. The license tags say that.... He said, oh okay. I thought you were geocaching.... I said, we actually were, but didnt want to let the secret out. I said, we're not supposed to tell ya know. They laughed and said look over there and pointed in the right direction. donno, maybe they placed it....go figure. I wonder how many City Cachers have had to fess up. Looking in nooks and crannies does look suspicious. Dad-dont-get-us-lose

Jeez, what's her issue with geocaching? lol! That doesn't even make sense that someone who fight that hard against it. She must have something personal against geocachers, I imagine. Well, I wish your state the best of luck on that one. Having laws put on a sport such as this one would degrade the quality of the sport, I would imagine. We vacation in Myrtle Beach and had a lot of finds there. It was a lot of fun. I say we bombard her with emails, would that help. Subject line says 200,000 geocachers to protest in South Carolina. Vacationers ticked! -
What KoosKoos said! If they want to fool themselves so be it. The one's I have seen are known to do it and people don't take them to seriously anyway. JDandDD It would be obvious for me to attend a geocache event and be slow. See my numbers. If I said I had 500 finds, you would expect better. I would like to see some events have competitions based upon numbers found. If you have more finds, your skills are probably better. I know it has gotten easier today that it was six months ago for me. The padded bluffs will be found out -- period.

You will drive someone crazy. I would have to hate you over this hide. Great idea though. -
I agree fully. I just sometimes wonder when I see someone's numbers are so high, but you look and they list boo-coo numbers. Wondered if they became geofanatics or if they see the big numbers that many have in the forum and want to impress people. Makes sense to me. I have logged a DNF at myrtle beach in a homeless area. All we found was feces and birth control. Apparently others did the same since.

Church Youth Group Activity

Have a contest like this? three part multi-cache, they can hunt together or separately call the event: Watch those Eggos (Egos)? In an envelope seal up different distances from 20-40 feet? After they find part one, <i like the bible stories to find numbers for coordinates>, make them draw and envelope. They can't open it until everyone has one. Pair them up in twos (partners). Each pair gets one real egg. They must stand facing each other and open the packet. The distance they have, they must back up from each other. They then must complete five tosses at that distance to move on. One toss is over and back (partner to partner then partner back to partner) for one catch. After five of these, those that still have eggs not broken go to cache hunt number 2. They have to solve next puzzle after it is determined they move on. Next cache could have a card that says back to back and toss must be caught over head by looking way up. Same synario. Five tosses and the winners move on. Third cache has all kinds of crazy tosses. (on your knees, on your back, one leg, one hand catch etc) at various feet. You can add a twist by allowing the first team that solves the puzzle a chance to swap cards with another team. Teens love egg tosses. This goes great. Never done it geocache style, but a regular egg toss with a twist works great. Plus you can stress a lesson on Egos and how God can break those if you will allow him to. Hope it helps. -
I put up a website to try and promote geocaching in WV to find others interested in the sport. I put a poll up where people can vote. If you want you can go there and cast a vote. www.wvgeocaching.com It's a non-commercial site. Or just list your thoughts here. Just curious? Do you think people lie about findings to pad their numbers? How many says 80% or more do? 60% or more? 40% or less Nobody would lie? Dad

Here is the address www.wvgeocaching.com I'm going to try and advertise it throughout WV to help get more events hosted in the state by geocachers. There are soooo many caches here, but very few events. Your thoughts

Event Donation Ques...
DAD-DONT-GET-US-LOST replied to coast2coast2coast's topic in General geocaching topics
I agree. Why not cnsider typing up a flyer and make it pdf. you can get a free pdf maker program called cutepdf. Goole that program and you'll get it. You type your flyer regular and when you go to print it, it converts to a pdf. Then you can email the pdf info to those that are interested. -
Would Cash Draw You To An Event?

If we can pull it together, there would be no fees or anything, just a lot of fun prizes contributed by the local business community. Would this be a violation of Groundspeak? Surely someone pays for the huge events hosted? I would rather it be a community effort as opposed to charging fees to particiapte. Your thoughts?
