  1. $150 a unit? Hmm maybe they meant all together $150 for 4-5 units....my earlier suggestion was for units $150 a piece.
  2. Yes the trash bag is great as a insulating layer/rain poncho or as a part of a shelter. I would switch out the rubber glove in this kit for a condom (not lubricated or flavoured) you can collect and carry water in the condom by placing it in a sock. He uses bleach for disinfecting water (this can give you the runs) I prefer to switch out his straw with bleach for iodine tablets. These survival kits are meant as a last resort you should carry a backpack filled with survival kit if you Geocaching really far away from civilization . The survival kit is placed in the pocket of your pants so that if you get separated from your backpack some how you'll still have something.
  3. Well you could get the Garmin eTreX legend $185 CND durable, waterproof, easy to use, base map, can hold extra maps and links to computer. The eTreX is a great all around GPS and probably the best in your price range. I'm sure you'll get a few other recommendations for different units. I suggest you go to your local retailer and try a few models out to find the best one for your purposes.
  4. Yeah I made one of these about a year ago the only thing I added was a cable saw for $3 so I could cut down medium sized branches for fires.
  5. Micros are fine...I like micros in cities especially because you have to make sure nobody's watching you , but I also enjoy well hidden micros in the woods. I like the hunt and the cleverness of some of the hiders I’ve encountered sure there are some caches I didn't enjoy as much as others but you can't please everyone.
  6. Sounds like a good cache to me, but the location will make or break it.
  7. or you can create some caches near the cacher whos bothering you and then when they log a find delete it.... jking (or am I)
  8. Well I modified a saying to make you feel better; A bad day of caching is better than a good day at work!
  9. I guess this is the "new" thing, I agree with if you actually hold the geocoin that you can log it. Find a geocoin in cache thats even better. Log virtual coins to get icons seems a little low...I’ve since pictures of caches/spoilers, but I don’t log these as finds.
  10. If your in North America and had WAAS turned on and using a Garmin it will show up satellites #35 and #47. I notice an all around increase in accuracy with WAAS on, but it drains the batteries slightly faster not anything significant though.
  11. . hmmm I took a look at a few people profiles and noticed that they log these "virtual" coins/TBs for the numbers and icons (as DavidMac pointed out). Seems to me this is pointless so you saw a picture of a Geocoin or TB and listed it I've seen pictures/spoilers of caches...I don't log these as finds.
  12. I don’t understand why people virtually log TBs seems like they are just doing it to boost there numbers. I thought it wasn’t about the numbers but it seems like some people are all about the numbers. Kinda takes the fun out of the game.
  13. GJ even though I live so far way nice find. I'm glad someone found it.
  14. Pre Find Clue by IndyMagicMan is.... The name of the cache is significant. No need to leave the confines of the shelter to sign the log. hmmm lets see if someone finds it. Thats not the greatess hint.
  15. I found nudie mags yesterday while caching...CITO them.
  16. Well I think im going to go geocaching now with my Garmin thats powered by Durecell while drinking Pepsi.
  17. Been lost once....I’m in the military and had just finished a exercise and was on down time before we would get picked up the next day. My friend and myself decided to go for a swim in the river to clean up a bit. We knew the river was 800M away and we decided to bushwhack...we made it took the river had nice swim found the place where we exited the woods and started walking back to base camp. I knew something wasn't right because the scenery wasn't quite the same as before. We had come to this really big cliff and had to walk around we decided to go west. We knew we we're slightly o ffbut figured we would hear the laughing and shouting at the camp or at least hit the road behind our camp. We missed the camp and hit the road and decided to go east, we walked for a good 45min and didn't find the trail connecting to our camp so we turned around and went west for 2 1/2 hr before we spotted a Truck heading out way, we flagged it down and got a ride back to camp (which was east). We were no more than 30M away from the trail when we were walking east. The funny part of the story was I had a GPS and a 1:25000 scale map in my tactical vest which I didn't bother grabbing before we left. Lessons learned...bring your navigating tools (and know how to use them). Needless to say after all that I was as dirty as before I took the swim.

  20. Its been brought up in the past and I was wondering when (if ever) is this feature going to be added to the website.
