I tried to get out for the first time today and had problems. I went to so many different screens and could not find the one that shows the count down of how close you are getting to the cache. I got into the compass page but there was no count down going on. Is there something I am doing wrong. I have my waypoints loaded, I select one and then hit go to. Am I right so far?? Then I would like to get to compass page or should I not bother with that starting out?? Maybe someone can explain a blow by blow here for me on what to do after you hit "Go To" I ended up driving home after I was confused. I am a little thick headed but once I get something I am usually good at it, Please help, Pete

I guess there is a certain amount of characters you can type in on the 60csx, I tried to add what the web-site sent and it will not add any characters to it

How come you need a PQ with the Garmin 60csx. This GPS has been around for awhile now, you would think that it would be able to go paperless. It does have limited info about the cache, I dont know if I can add to it or not manually

Isn't MapInstall (which I'm fairly sure is installed with BaseCamp) the program to use for installing maps on a GPS unit? --Larry Ok Larry gets the cigar. I went back and sure enough there was Map Install. See I just need a little wack in the back of the head once in awhile, Thanks

I beleive that should have also loaded Basecamp, if you didn't already have it. That is the program that will push the maps to your GPS. Yes I have base camp loaded but dont know whart to do next. I dont want the entire disc on my GPS. I would like just a 100 mile radius of where I live loaded onto the gps

I installed Garmin dvd with no problems onto my computer, Now I need to find a link on how to send to my gps. Is there something on this site on how to do it?? I would only want to send like a 100 mile radiuus of my area sent to my gps. I goggled my problem but nothing came up that I understood.

Ok good sugestions on the compass, I have an offer `on one, Now How about a good book on compass map reading and how to use. I had all this under my belt but that was 40 years ago and I would like to study about it again. So any suggestions would be appreciated on a good book

Just in case I have a failure out in the field is there any certain brand of a compass I should buy. Something thats decent. I have a engineer directional compass that refuses to point North on all occasions and we cant have that. I do like the lensactic type compass as thats what I used in the Army. Just looking to buy one that is not junk, Thanks guys, Pete p.s. still didnot get out yet. My legs and feet are not up to it yet but I am willing as soon as I have a good day I will be out there, easy caches first.

I bought the Garmin 24k Northeast dvd. I have 2.0 gb card in the 60csx. I was told you need a 4.0 card in there as it will take up to 3.8 on the download to the gps. Does anyone out there verify this so I can buy a larger card and is 4.0 gb as big as I can put in there?? Will the 8.0 gb fit in a 60 csx. And which one would it be There is a hard limit of 2025 tiles so even if you get a really large card you can't put it all on the card if you exceed 2025 tiles. A 4 gig card is no problem, not sure about the 8 gig. I understand now, so you dont need to download the entire map just a certain tile you are planning to visit

Heres the scoop. Some guys on amazon etc. have this dvd but the cover of the product is different. The model numbers are the same. I have found out with the difference there is like a 30 buck difference in price which brings me to suspect that maybe one is not up to date?? Does anyone know what I am talking about??

This is what I found with my setup also, They made the plug on an angle so it wont interchange. Garmin is pretty smart

I have a mini SUB on the Nuvi and on the back of the Garmin it says for power external that port is round. I would be afriad to plug it in without calling Garmin

Yes. There is always the possibility that the device will start making all of its decisions by itself. It might decide it doesn't need you one day, and you will be disposed of. LOL, Thats funny
