My computer had a virus and i got it removed they reformayyed my computer. I go to geocac website and now i cannot view the map . I only have a basic membership

I have an older gps Magellan merridian in need of a facescreen.I took it apart and it would be simple to repair. I want it for my grandson to teach him how to geo cache. Thanks.......

Just got a triton 500 with built in map. I an in Eastern Canada and on the memory card is 5 more maps. When i try to load them it takes 30 to 45 minutes then says i am not set up to use them. Can anyone tell me if i have to buy a license or what. Thanks dman2

Hi All I am a on again off again geocacher with not much luck finding them. I have found 2 in about 2 years. that would be about one every 365 days. Wow ask me if i am interested in geocaching.I am not a quitter and will not let that dumb gps rule me. Enough rambling. How often should you inatilize the gps? I don't think mine get me close enough. Hi All I am running win 98SE. I bought a Lexar Memory card reader and did not receive any software but should be plug and play. I cannot get the computer to recognise it.I tried diff drivers but when i check i don't see it on the comp. Any ideas Dman

You can read more about that in the FAQs in the sticky thread at the top of the forum. My money's on EScout's advice, but if it doesn't seem to apply see if you can evoke the hidden menu via the FAQs instruction or use the secret key combination in the FAQ to clear all memory.

Hi All I will try to keep this short.. I forgot my gps connected to my computer but it was turned off. I always keep my batteries charged fully and if i bring it into my vehicle i connect to the 12v lighter I have no extta memory and decided to go and get some today. I disconnected my gps and took it with me. I had another stop first. Upon finishing there and returning to my vehicle i wanted to turn the gps on but before doing so i noticed on the screen the ver # and a square with 2 00's. When i tried to power up the zero's went away but no gps.I still can't get it to come on. I waited to get home and tried newly recharged batteries and still no gps. HELP HELP please. Anyone know what i can do. I know that the daylight time changed but why effect the gps. Dman

Hi All I have a Sporttrac Map and updated my software from ver 3.03 to 5.34 and find now sometimes as my gps searches for the satelites they all disapere but the gps is still finding them to do the coors.Also i find on the first startup each day that it now takes longer than before to do it's thing. Hi All I am in eastern Canada and would like to change my basemap to something other than what i have. Does anyone know how to do it and where would i get a new basemap. I don't know much about my gps but think that another basemap ( Canadian ) would be more benificial to me. Does this sound right. dman

Well since Magellan never provided what changes were made to the firmware then I really couldn't answer that. I will say that I updated my old sportrak map with the new firmware that it has worked like a champ every since. I am in Eastern CAnada. Can the basemap be changed

Hi All I'm sorta new at this but never did an update. It doesn't sound hard if i follow the inst. Do you advise me to do an update. I have ver. 3.03 on my gps. I also went on Magellan site and could not access the software like you did but by using your link it worked. Hi All I have a Spoet Trak Map and read i could update my software to 4.04. I have the firmware install disk and it say's to download ver 4.04 first. I went on Magellan site and cannot find it anywheres. Any and all help will be appreciated.

I am a new user to GPS 's and don't know much about them and only once in awhile get here on the forum to read the GPS Garage Sale . I REALLY APPRECIATE THE MEMBERS WHO TELL US NEW USERS IF WE ARE GOING TO GET SCRE_ _ _ AND NOT ENJOY IT BY PAYING WAY MORE THAN A UNIT IS REALLY WORTH. This being said. I am a biker and went on our forum and wanted to purchase a GPS and as far as i am concerned got SCRE_ _ _ by a fellow member. When i wrote him with my prob. he said that the unit was a O-K when he sent it. So as i see it any member should be ALLOWED to burn all assh_ _ _ s we are trying to SCRE _ me or other new members. HURRAH for speaking out and SCRE _ you money gouging sellers. DON
