  1. Dont know how I did it. I seemed to have turned off all the my locations. They are still in the GPS in the my locations category on the que find. They dont show up on the map screen. Tried the que preferences and it has the auto setting on and they still dont show up. Not sure what I did. Please help if you know how to turn them back on. Garmin did not understand what I meant.
  2. Like this one? http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...ae-841464f9f796
  3. A cache placers hope of making a cache that will get a lot of traffic with the promise of finding bar coded and serial numbered trinkets.
  4. Its not that hard to do now. Might be a little time consuming if you are a mega cacher (1000+) Get a coin you really like. Or just a plain brand new TB (Coins are cooler...you get the icon! Another post I guess... ) You simply go back through all your old cache history and write a not for the cache and drop your bug/coin then retrieve it. Go delete the note from the cache page. NOT that coin/TB page. Make sure your note has the date you initially found it so that your drop and grab sequence is in order. I mainly just get irritated with doing it now since I have to have two windows open to log caches. Easy for two or three. Sucks and is labor intensive when you cached on a road trip and your someplace with dial up Personal TB sounds like an infectous disease. I guess you could keep that to yourself.... 6 to one half dozen to another. Same thing.
  5. I like that idea. Better then just sending a blank box with no thought. Thanks! I think I will do that from now on.
  6. Did not say you did! Guess I can kinda see how you thought. I more or less tossed that out there for the fun of it though. It is irritating when the past few cachers float through a cache you got a TB wanting to move and it gets "discovered" that sucks. But for those ultra rare coins that you didnt really find OR did find and want to share with your buddies before you release then that is cool.
  7. No. The copy will stay A tracker/tracer TB is one that you fix to your GPS or bacpack or keys and it visits all the caches you go to to see how much mileage you rack up. Time consuming and labor intensive and not really fun any more.
  8. Yes! That is what it is. Nope. Its in no mileage contest. Honestly the plan is to keep the theme. going from cache to cache. Instead of me logging it I am going to release it and let fellow cachers "hold" the ol' TB for a bit to log in caches then release on the way. Make sense?
  9. Yeah... Im one of those shallow people. IF it looks like a cool coin and I actually see it (in person) then yeah I discover them. Only at events or with a fellow cacher. If I find a trackable in a cache its going for a ride unless it looks lame or I cant really help it. (Please dont take this unless travelling to the moon by the next eclipse in 3....2....1.....). Then I dont even bother discovering it.
  10. Im looking for a 2006 Not Another Micro coin if some one has one to spare!
  11. I have a tracker TB that I have been using for a while. I am wanting a geocoin to use as a TB and start it from scratch. Is releasing the tracker TB with its current 4000 miles "cheating" Seems there is a hidden TB etiquette I am not aware of and I sure would not want to be an uncouth TB newbie.
  12. For Coin collections. Not its not. For TBs yeah.... its lame. Unless its your friends VBTB (Vehicle born travel bug) and you want to see how and where its going.
  13. Thats a common one! I do the notepad/cachemate thing to try and alleviate that. If I find a trackable I usually check and see when it was dropped by the previous holder. More then a week I just grab it drop it in the cache I found it in and grab it again. Simple. Less then a week give them time to log it. More then a couple of weeks just do it yourself.
  14. Same here.... thanks again gc.com....
  15. x2 !!! I dont want to file drop here, DOS this or pay for another program (Cachemate) I paid 30 bucks to GC, downloaded my *free* mobipocket software and put my PDA in the cradle. Wham! I had my pocket queries put in a PDA by the time it took me to go get a cup of coffee (office environment. If you cant make that happen again without me having to go here and there and all over.... then forget it. I will drop my subscriber status and go back to caching once or twice a blue moon and not bother bringing others into it. Send my file in a PDA, word doc, excell doc that I can drop in my PDA quick and fast and get on with my business. Oh yeah... Please.....
  16. Lol. Me too. ENG 101 I did a paper on How to Geocache! Got a decent grade and piqued the professors curiosity! Maybe I brought in a new player.
  17. I feel you gave poor advice and must comment on it. One should never fire into the air or into the ceiling. The chosen method to clear a weapon is to point the weapon down at the ground. Why would you willingly ventilate your ceiling unless you had a very limited annual rainfall? Should you fire a weapon capable of penetrating the roof you would have no clue where the expended round would land. Very socially irresponable. I also feel you should not carry an "open chamber" revolver. Why are you shorting yourself? If you doubt the integrity of the gun to fire off unprovoked you would be better to leave it unloaded OR purchase a safer firearm. My Taurus Tracker in .357 has yet to go off on its own while loaded. Even while fourwheeling. You also point out the use of less lethal. I feel that is dangerous advice to give. You should use the best ammo that will function 100% if the time. If you feel you need to use less lethal then you need to pick an alternate weapon. What if your second shot of wad cutter misses? That is not wise advice to give. A defense or prosecution could pick that apart as look at how the defendant (you) wanted to cause extreme pain and suffering before he delivered the killing blow. Snake shot is for snake. Not for home defense. If you feel you cannot hit a target from 3 feet to 21 feet then you need to practice more. A gun is not for everyone. The best home defense is a barking dog and motion lights. A loaded gun is a last ditch effort to preserve your life. At that point you are no longer concerned for the miscreant who chooses to violate your peace and safety. I also use a nice .357 Taurus Tracker loaded with snake shot on some caches. I also have a speed loader with Hydra shoks loaded up. Funny thing is though I run into more snakes when I dont have my gun then when I have it. Leave Jake alone and he will leave you alone. Willy U.S. Army 10+ years.
  18. Never got an email myself. Kind of a shame as I would have appreciated a caching buddy. However! I sent an email to a new cacher when he could not find a cache that if he would like help I would assist. Turned out to be a guy from the church I attend and now I have that new caching buddy! Sometimes its a small world and you just never know.....
  19. Its just a courtesy of the hider should the finder lose or misplace his cache on the way. I use a stamp or labels now. much neater and easier.
  20. I have the same problem with ignorant people. I carry my wits and common sense and stay away from those parts of town. I also carry a healthy dose of manners and politeness that does wonders when out in the hills. I also try not to pass judgement on others.... you would do well to learn that. and when all else fails a nice glock 19 with Hydra shock is the last resort.
