  1. That is a real shame, My poor cache is feeling lonely, no one from out of state has found it yet.
  2. I think it would be SO cool if some smart person could find a way to turn the state borders into an onverlay like the WDC-GE.KMZ file in the above cache. Then we could add a placemark for the caches in the state and we would have a great map to trace progress in. It would be a lot of lines to draw, but cool if we could do it.
  3. Arkansas is published and ready to go. If my count is right that brings us up to 40 done.... Arkansas Cache
  4. Just an update. Arkansas has hit another Delay. Nothing serious, but there is a new Ranger Approving Caches and this will be her fisrt cache to approve, and she is moving a little slow getting back to me, but the guy she is replacing thinks the spot should get approved
  5. Working on Arkansas, I have gotten the container ready and picked a spot, Currently waiting for the Ranger to get off of training so I can go forward with getting the needed permit to place. So, I am mostly ready, just waiting on the red-tape to get permission to put it in place and post
  6. <p> <p> and here is the KML File for 8-23-2006 ..... 32 caches <p> Caches Kml File <P> to use the file save it and open it with Google Earth
  7. Ohhhh Ouch .... Pain ... Loss ... I am not 100 % sure, but it looks like Frappr will only map to locations like Citys, and States. It will not allow you to put in a location and put a marker ... SUCKS ... hope I am wrong, but that is what it looks like
  8. Well I think I can answer part of the question The Lat and Lon on the advanced Tab requires the data to be entered in Decimal degrees (- for South and West) and the Goundspeak stuff in is the Degrees, Minutes format. you can use the following web site to convert Latitude Longitude Co-ordinate Format Converter I tried working with this, but I am having trouble getting it to take the Corrds. I put the Data in one field and it will not let me move to the next to finish up anyway hope this helps a little
  9. Please bare with me, I am working on a Frappr map to indicate the location of the caches. Well I hope I am doing this correct, but take a look at what I have started. I hope to finish this tonight. Frappr - Cache Across America I am currently having issues with setting this up. I have posted a new topic HERE to try and get answers. Please feel free to chime in over there if you can be of assistance. This may be a bit Silly of me to say, but BluePower Ranger has the Ultimate map. New Tools for the Bookmark owner let them create an KML for Google Earth from the edit page. I have been one at a time creating an copy of the bookmark so I can do just that. I would post the KML and a jpg, but my Web Server is having troubles right now so I will try again some time soon
  10. Yeah, just need to provide the basic HTML code to each of the placers; with the picture links to the common area should work great
  11. Cool must have missed it ... after reading 5 pages it all started to blur together
  12. Pocket Queries is the easiest way. I have one for each of my areas of interst and have them sent to me several times a week with the PQ options only pulling things that have changed in the last 7 days. Then I use the E-mail import of GSAK to keep things up to date. The one drawback to this is that Archived Caches will not come over a PQ, so you need to set up your notifications to be told about archived (so you can load the archives into GSAK)
  13. Ok, Looks Like I found this one too late, but I will be glad to be a second to Kiamichi Muskrat for Arkansas I live right in the central area One sudgestion, once the Caches are established, we should create a public Bookmark that contains all the caches, and the "template" cache listing should have a link to the Bookmark. This would also make changes easy to manage if some of them get muggled or (Heaven Forbid) Archived
  14. One thing to think about.... He heard it from the Garmin's Rep (basicly a gloified Salesman) and it is a sad truth, but MOST salespeople, do not know the TRUTH of their products, only the Hype that the company wants people to hear [ Please no flames, I have the greatest respect for people in sales, but ....... ]
  15. I can not say anything about Topo, But Street Atlas 6.0 has suprised me over and over with the number of MAJOR trails that it has. Granted all the trails I have used are the Paved bike trails, so I am not too sure about Jeep Trails, but my guess is that neither would have them (uless very well established) but you should be able to add them to either
  16. I personally use the Palm M515, I used to run into this problem a lot. First yes they were EXACT duplicates. What was happening was Cachemate was moving the FINDS to the Found category, then GSAK was importing it into the NOT Found Category, and wala 2 copies. I solved this by going into the CACHEMATE prefernces screen [/R] and UNCHECKING the "Preserve old item category". No more Dups, but now GSAK can change the categories at will (Dang another problem) This one I solved by having GSAK use it's wonderful filters to filter thing into my 4 main categories (Found, Not Found, Archived, and Owned) and create a cachemate PDB for each of the four filters. Now this is nice because if the name of the PDB EXACTLY matches the Cachemate category name it defaults to that category on the import (it also defaults to the last database you were in) for me this works perfect. BTW I have a Benckmark category too that works the same way when I pull benchmarks. Yeah Yeah .... the search is a little slower, but if you tell the search to filter by category and make sure you change to the category you want to search first it speeds things up alot. I am sure this solution will not work for everyone, but it does for me
  17. Unless they have changed this in last month the answer is YES sorry this is a Premium feature
  18. Thanks for all the advice. I have a Garmin 76cs and the points I have are all averaged at the same point and they fall from 2 to 10 feet apart from one another so I wanted to average together all the averaged points taken at various times of day and weather conditions, for a location that hopefully will be good for everyone
  19. Right now I am afraid I am going to probably do NOTHING. The best bet for me to get out of this without a record is to let the case Pass for 6 months and if after that time I have caused no more trouble then it will be dismissed alltogether. So, though I would love it if others (especally other police or city officals) talk to them not neccessarly about my case, but about Geocaching that would be GREAT. But as for me I need to advoid Sherwood and be a good boy (aka not ruffle the wrong feathers) at least until they dismiss this citation, then time will tell Robert
  20. Hey folks.... Sorry I have not posted much here lately. I have been tied up posting at the Arkansas Geocashing Association Fourm. ... Thanks to Rick for providing the link Now to try and hit some of the questions .. in no pitcular order The answer to this one is not really. But in her defense the Cache is not on the Exxon parking lot, it is in a grass buffer area that several thing back up to (the Indianhead Shopping center, a Burger King, and the Exxon station) In my opinion I do not see that it was on the Exxon land, but that is neither here or there Yeah I as handcuffed, booked and fingerprinted .... Whole nine yards. About the residue... Who knows, near as I can tell they are planning to send it to the lab to be checked, I never saw it, but the claim is tiny white particles, almost too small to gather. This one I have to appoligize for, I was letting my fustration talk. The truth of the matter is that officer and none of the folks he called knew about geocaching, and I am fairly sure he thought I was making it up. But he did ask some very pointed question trying to find out how many other people were "Playing this Internet game" (his words) in this area, and how many "of these things" are there in Sherwood, and he was not happy that I could not answer him . Actually it is a pretty boring and quite dirty one. Finally, I think that in general this ends up being a bad tempered Exxon owner that was fustrated that his stuff had been vandelized and stolen in the recent weeks, and a uninformed police officer that maybe was maybe being just a little over zelious (sp?) about dealing with an unknown I harbor no true Ill will toward the police or the City of Sherwood, and I am hoping we will be able to work a deal where they pass over the case for 6 months and if I have no other Criminal arrest in that time they will just drop the case and wipe it away. As nearly as I can tell at this time the Sherwood courts just do not consider this a big enough issue to bother with a full court hearing. But the next week will tell me more about that
  21. While Caching at the below Cache IndianHead's Indian Head I was picked up on the security cam of a near by Exxon station while hunting this cache, he came out and ask me what I was doing. I explained, and he decided to call the police and the Sherwood Police proceeded to arest me for Criminal Trespass and possition of criminal materal (the Cache .. I had just found it) The officer claimed there was some "residue" of sort (they are going to have it tested). I want to warn everyone to remove all caches in Sherwood and do not Cache in that area anymore .. the Cops are now aware of us and looking to ARREST US .. Because there is NO SUCH THING AS PUBLIC PROPERITY !!!!!!!!
  22. Hi all, I know that this has been ask before, but I am unable to find it. I am trying to work on placing a Cache and have been taking readings over a peroid of time, now I need to combine all the datapoints to one "Best Average" waypoint. I know there is a tool or calculation out there but I can not find it. Help
  23. The Palm software does not work that way. GPSbabel will create a PDB or other "palm" file on your PC. You then drop it into the Palm Desktop Install tool (like installing a new application to the palm) and then you do a HOTSYNC .... The Palm file has coding it so that the palm "Knows" what app it belongs too and will install it, or in some cases (like the NAV COMPANION the install ends up replacing the old waypoint database with a new one.
  24. Thanks for all the input. Still not sure what I really need but I will probably end up going with the 60C or 60CS. Or maybe I just need to wait and see about the prices of the "X' models .... *sigh* decisions decisions......
