  1. Not got an Oregon, but I delete mine as I can't see any reason to keep them. They also clutter the screen a bit showing the found symbol.
  2. Any idea why some cache names are bold and others not? I can't work it out!!
  3. I've often wondered if I can get away with putting a cache in my mates front room.....
  4. Nice.....need to save my pennies
  5. Yes..you will start out with your phone, then try to get a better signal and get a BT GPS, then realize a proper GPSr will be better..get one of these, then..... But it's a great way of exploring the countryside, in the last couple of months I've seen loads of areas close by that I never knew about, even though I've lived here 40+ years
  6. You'll get a bit lost as it's x1.6!!
  7. Depends on the hint really. Some give a cryptic clue on where to look which I enjoy, but others say "under the broken branch on the tree" and when there is only one tree near GZ it gives it away
  8. I've shot off an email, but I seem to remember that someone had a similar issue and their reply was that they couldn't manually do anything. I'll see what they say to me
  9. What sort of cache was it? In the options there is a search filter which either just shows traditional caches or all caches, could it be that? You can also get it to hide your finds.
  10. Pen/pencil....a must as how often does a cache have a working pen or sharp pencil?!! (Although one had a pencil sharpener). Oh and those micros.... Stamp....saves above problems if the logbook is big enough! Some odds and sods to drop off if there is something worth taking. Spare batteries for the GPSr. That's about it really although like with all things there will always be something else you need!!
  11. I get the same Been through the logging out, logging in using different sequences...but still no joy....I only went premium in March!
  12. Not sure if this will work on the 62
  13. I'm feeling self-righteous now! I've a stamp but only use it when it won't take up more than a signature would i.e. not on a 'nano type' micro
  14. Well, it's pretty common for electronic items to be cheaper in the US than Europe, even when you don't take 20% VAT into account. You did take 20% VAT into account, didn't you? And of course, US prices are always quoted without sales tax, which can get close to 10% in some states. Even when you add the state tax its a lot cheaper over there. I guess it may be due to demand?
  15. I can't beat this one...had me in stitches!!
  16. Calling cards!! Yes I agree with most of you I finding annoying when you open a cache and have to sort through all the junk (20+ calling cards) before you can find the logbook or any goodies!!! So...should a CO remove these?
  17. Not sure if you can! The issue is someone finds a TB which has been placed in a cache, but the placer hasn't had time to log it. It's one of the reasons I log things as soon as I get home, but for others it maybe more difficult. The opposite is true also, I went to several caches yesterday which said they had TB's in them, but had none...obviously been taken and not logged yet. To be honest there isn't a real way around it unless everyone logs things instantly on a smart phone....so best just to live with it!!
  18. I've some land nearby which I thought was common land and I was thinking of putting a set of circular caches on there. Decided to ring the local district council as the direct.gov website says they should have a registry of what is common land and who owns it. Ring them up, well five times actually and it was only the last person I spoke with who knew anything about it...and found it's the County council who have the registry!! Another four calls the them to actually find the name of the person who deals with it. Eventually I get to speak with her and she was very helpful....apart from the land, named xxxx Common isn't registered as common land! So the hunt continues.....
  19. Yup, everything, description, hints, logs, waypoints etc etc I set it to run several pq's during the week and download them to my GPSr. The main one I run is caches nearby I haven't found.. Some info is here.
  20. You really need to become a premium member, then you can download PQ's. This is a lot less hassle than downloading each cache individually.
  21. Magellan eXplorist GC can be found for £140...but it's only £118 in the US
  22. In my experience it will be an issue with port number, baud rate or stop bits. Make sure that both ends are the same and it should be ok.
