  1. I see we had the same idea at exactly the same time! I don't see any hidden waypoints in your GPX file. It seems they only appear in the GPX file if you are the cache owner. Hopefully someone else will verify this is correct from my cache.
  2. That's coz I removed (archived) the waypoint EDIT: OK, I've added a hidden waypoint to another of my caches, with random coords. Could someone download the GPX file from the cache page and see what you can see right towards the end of the file. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...5e-d2cadd5e55d6 Cheers.
  3. I've just added Question to Answer waypoints as well as a hidden final location waypoint to one of my caches. I checked out the GPX and found that the hidden waypoint is hidden in the long description, but is shown further down the file. In the long description HIDDEN: JGQCFM - Final Location<br />N/S __ ° __ . ___ W/E ___ ° __ . ___ <br /&gt At the bottom of the file (I've censored the coords, yes I'm that paranoid) <wpt lat="53.xxxxx" lon="-1.xxxx"> <time>2006-01-20T11:12:00.3100000-08:00</time> <name>JGQCFM</name> <cmt>Final Location</cmt> <desc /> <url>http://www.geocaching.com/seek/wpt.aspx?WID=a0bb81d5-e5db-4dfc-aba3-d0d5f34f1b8c</url> <urlname>Final Location</urlname> <sym>Final Location</sym> <type>Waypoint|Final Location</type> </wpt> Hope this is of use.
  4. Sounds good. We just need to cross reference Brewsters locations with caches to find a suitable location.
  5. I had spotted that one, but the cache description is clear enough for anyone to know that it is a puzzle cache. I've had lacrodorum change one of my cache types before, took him all of 5 seconds ;-)
  6. It'd be interesting to find out how many people have signed up with Waymarking.com that haven't heard about it via Geocaching.

    Submersibles

Be sure to consider depth when choosing the container. After a few metres you'll have to worry about pressure.
  8. Those going to the mini meet should pretend to be muggles just to put him off ;-)
  9. From Bradford, W. Yorks 486 I own 9 of them. Found 66 of them. My GSAK database isn't up-to date with those caches near the 25 mile limit though....
  10. A good site to find things like these is www.googleearthhacks.com
  11. Menu -> Map Setup -> Point Tab There are 3 options here, you'll most likely want to change the top one "My Locations" Change Hide Above to another value. i.e. Hide Above 5m means the points will not appear if the zoom is set above 5 miles. HTH.
  12. I regually go on all day cache treks, and I've never come close to running out of battery. The display is easily readable in daylight, and when you need it; the backlight can be set to just enough to make the screen readable. I've always found it very easy to hold.
  13. I've been toying with the idea of doing this, but with a cheap digital camera instead.

    Pdf Printouts

Right clicking "Save File As...." works fine in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. With Firefox it saves the extention as .aspx Might not be much you can do about that, could just be a Firefox issue. I'll be printing a few for my next caching day out.
  15. High: Discovering a game based around the devices I sell in my day job, a week after getting back from holiday. Low: Finding out there was a cache not too far away from my holiday hotel, a week too late! High: Discovering I live in one of the UKs caching hotspots. Low: Failing to find all 4 of my first attempted finds High: Finally getting my first find, which was a FTF as well! High: Placing my first cache, and getting great feedback. Ultimate High: Tightening my belt by five notches due to all the exercise
  16. Well done, I catch you up one day (personally aiming for 75 by the end of 2005)!
  17. Hi PPL. It seems in the last 24 hours Google Earth has updated the images in our area (I suppose it's possible the update goes further, but I've only checked out the Leeds/Bradford area so far). The detail in most areas is fantastic, I can make out the placements of my latest multi (dried out yet Ruston?) very well - compared to the massive green blob most areas looked like yesterday. From what I can tell, the images are still quite old; from a known feature in Bradford that's changed recently, I'd estimate that they were taken around 2001-2002. This should make my caching day-trip planning a bit easier!
  18. The i3 is a fantasic In Car Sat Nav for the price, but it is not pratical for outdoor use. a) It's not water/splashproof You cannot enter lat/long c) You cannot explore the map (point to a place and say take me there). You could use it to get near the cache location, but you'd need to know the nearest town/village and streetname.
  19. Consider the Quest - it's essentially an updated SPIII, but smaller!
  20. I haven't read through the thread - so this has probably been mentioned before. On the handheld units that can also be used for Auto-Routing (Quest, Legend etc) I'd like a one button solution for changing multiple preference options - similar to profiles on a mobile phone. Something like In-Car, Public Transport, On Foot, Custom
  21. Certainly the largest I've encountered is GCN8RF - which is around the same size as a small family car
  22. If you type in Hurley's numbers into Google Maps, it shows a tiny island in the middle of the ocean
  23. I think the vast majority of new Garmin Units that have come out in the past 18 months have included City Select (or the compressed version City Select NT). The extra information held in City Navigator costs Garmin more in Licence fees than City Select.
  24. I've yet to actually do a virtual cache...... From my point of view, the interesting appeal of a virtual is the potential mystery element - many of the virtal listings I've looked at don't give away what's at the final location. From what I've seen, the vast majority of waymarks tell you exactly what you are travelling to. Kinda defeats the whole point. You might as well just pickup a copy of the AA Tourist Guide.
  25. Some groups will hack any site, regardless of its profile. My little-visited site has been hacked on more than one occasion.
