    Off Road Geocoin

    Hello fellow cachers! I am searching for the ATV off road geocoin. I came across them before but don't know what the name of the web page was. I only remember the site said it was a preorder. They were in a variety of colors and had a person riding an ATV. I'm thinking they were smaller in size than a normal geocoin. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I was hoping to obtain one as a gift. Thanks for any help you can offer.

    I just took a peek at your Event page thought, "Something about this event seems awfully familiar."

    Great idea. Let us know how it goes. Since no real money is involved, I'd like to bid my fake $1000 on a nice sig item from a local cacher there -- one I'm not likely to already have in my collection. Would that be alright?

    I'm happy to send you a couple of my wooden rectangular signature items I have. I can't remember if I sent it to you or not. If you're interested in them, I'm happy to donate a few to your event. Let me know.

    If anyone I've traded with either didn't get their wooden nickel, or got one that was damaged, please contact me! I would be happy to replace them.

     

    I'm prompted to post this because in the last week I've gotten emails about two shipments that didn't travel so well. One was broken, and one arrived as an empty envelope ;).

     

    Also, another thank you to the many people I've traded with :laughing:

    I'm new to geocaching and can't afford to have coins made up at this time, but wanted to have something to leave at a cache other than the usual things you read about. I have "generic" wooden nickels, indian head on one side, blank on the other. I have stamped them with my name & a request for an email if found. I plan on numbering them as I'd like to see where they end up. Is there a way or site to track something like this? I know you can track geocoins but haven't been able to find anything on the geocaching site or forums on this or if it's even possible or acceptable.

    I have a couple of questions...

     

    3) On a more sensitive note, has anyone else had any trouble with deadbeat traders? I have had about three trades arranged in the last few months where I've sent mine out but never received the nickel from them. I've sent a couple of reminder emails, but I've not had any response. I don't want to name names and I REALLY don't want to think badly of others because I know there could be any number of reasons. I was just wondering whether this is a real problem or if it's an isolated incident.

     

    4) Anyone have any tips on how to get good close up photos of wooden nickels? My standard digital camera doesn't want to focus that close. How do others do it?

    On the subject of deadbeat traders, can't say I've much of a problem there. Maybe 1 time.

     

    As for the closeup photo, must digital cameras have a macro mode. If you have a mode selector, look for a single flower icon. Otherwise, take a picture from as close as you can with the most zoom you can.

    Yes, the macro mode worked for the hubby. I was having problems taking pictures of our wooden nickels and he figured it out for me. :)

    We're buying this really cool coffee table that is for sale at IKEA and it has a glass top with the inside all divided into areas to display whatever you like! If anyone else is interested in this we would be happy to send you the product # and weblink.

     

    Can't wait to get some more items and be able to fill up the table!

    Ok, 2 more sent out! WAHOO! This gets me thinking about how many I will eventually have. How many wooden nickels do you guys have so far, and do you have a picture of all of them? I know once I see them I will have nickel envy... :D
