  1. Please help! Having a hard time finding a Car GPS with Geocaching software. Why do I need this? Here is how we do it and it is a long winded process and could be so much easier. During the planing process of our Caching Weekend we do the normal process of running a pocket query of the area we are going to and the path there and back so we can cache in a circle ending back where we started. We then transfer that to my GPSMAP62s and to a NUVI. Having the Geocaches on the NUVI is super helpful with turn by turn directions in new areas. I also enjoy seeing the treasure boxes on the map showing that we are getting close. Entering pocket query info into both devices is the same, just plug in and send. This is where the Hand Held software starts to run away from the NUVI. Hand held software lets you mark a Geocache as found and find next closest and opens the treasure chest making it easy to know the caches found. My NUVI does not. I can also delete off of my hand held when finished. In order to do this on my NUVI I have to delete from GPS folder on the computer and then reset back to factory settings at the next start up or they all come back. Long story short, is there a car GPS that has Geocaching software? Are you able to download this software for current GPS from Garmin? Does anyone else use a car gps to assist them in long week/weekend Geocaching trips? Is there a Garmin car GPS that allows deleting of geocaches/waypoints easily? And yes I know Car GPS systems are not designed for geocaching but it works great to get close and then switch to my hand held. Thanks for reading! MrJWoody
  2. #63, GC45KBA - One DNF but GZ seems to be the site of a car wreck I am the CO of #63 GC45KBA, Blanked out, and the GZ is a bit of a mess due to the car wreck but I went out this morning and replaced the Cache. All is now well with this cache. The location did change a bit but cords are still close. Woody
  3. In my opinion, the language someone uses should depend on the audience. There are times when the F bomb is offensive, like at "family affairs (or when my mom around)" and some times not like with friends. Geocaching.com is a family affair and language should be appropriate for children.
  4. I have visited a few different places in my life and it was nice that there were people there that spoke English when I needed help. Did I log my caches in Aruba in Dutch? No, because I don't speak the language. How could anyone expect people that don't speak English to make their caches English only or log in English only? I want everyone to find my caches and enjoy Logs in other languages. I think it adds to the depth of Geocaching.
  5. I use the gpsmap62s. My caching partner uses an oregon450. Some days his is a bit more accurate and some days mine is. I like the manual buttons on mine for navigating between screens but we use his on most multi caches as the touch screen input is fast. I don't think one is superior over the other. You will have to decide which Amenities you desire. Also for day trips, a garmin nuvi is a must for quick directions to the next find. I just wish the software would let you mark as found like the hand held units do.
  6. Reading this topic hits close to home today as I went out for a winter ATV ride just out side of town. I was excited to get the caches that were out there located on a road where 4X4 was required. When I got to close to the place the first cache should be, I went to open the App on my phone and there was no service. Made me sure wish I had my Garmin along. So, in short, because I wanted to "Ride Light" and not carry my GPS, I rode by several caches that I was excited to get but could not. Phone app is awesome when you just need to be close and the coverage is there to support it. I just recommend getting a GPS with the capability of paperless geocaching. I use a Garmin GPSMAP 62S and love it!
