  1. Just chiming in with the rest to say "thanks" and I will truly miss the site. I loved it when a county changed colors. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated.
  2. I obtained platinum late last summer after being at bronze level for a few years. I had a carefully crafted plan to slowly but surely get up to platinum by the end of 2010, but then the EC bug hit me and I completed it a year earlier than I thought I would. Although I only have four ECs published, I get a huge rush every time one is accepted and transferred to me. I feel like each EC I have published is like a child -- I love them equally but differently at the same time.
  3. Well done - very nice idea. Nice!!!! I just need my gold pin. I think I am never going to get it. I got the platinum pin a few weeks ago, but still no gold.
  4. These coins are awesome!!! PaRacers I really would like to see a picture of your coin/pin display when it is complete as I may do something similar. I also have the other EarthCache geocoin and it is an incredible coin as well. My boyfriend, who is not really into geocoins, was really impressed with it.
  5. This list has given me some ideas on tweaking some of my requirements. Thank you.
  6. Two of my three EarthCaches were approved the day after I submitted them. I had to work with geoaware on the other to move my coordinates away from a Virtual that is in the area, but that's it. I may be in the minority, I know they are swamped right now. It's all about working within the guidelines and making sure you are focusing on the geologic features of an area. A lot of my friends gave me ideas for EarthCaches that were marshlands, wildlife areas, reservoirs, etc. that had no geological significance, and I had to keep telling them to focus on the geology, not the ecology or biology of an area. Just my two cents.
  7. Ack! I need another state still, so will be making a long trip and very soon and probably by myself. All for the soon to be discontinued gold pin. Such is life!
  8. I have only had my first earthcache up and running for a week today. I knew it would eventually happen, but I didn't think it would happen this soon. A little old lady who visited my earthcache says she took pictures but doesn't know how to upload them. She got the answers to my questions correctly. It's pretty obvious she visited the site. I looked at her other finds, and she visited several other geocaches in the area. She's from out of state. I am going to try and work with her and see if I can get her to upload a picture. I really don't want to get into the habit, this soon, of compromising on my earthcache requirements. But I am not going to delete her log either. She was obviously there. I feel that if I go easy on one person I am going to have to go easy on everyone and I really don't want to do that.
  9. Updated: Due to overwhelming demand, I will now be taking offers on the unit. Give me your best offer.
  10. I am selling my Garmin GPSMAP 60C, along with the Mapsource City Navigator North America software and unlock code that I purchased and installed in the unit in December of 2008. The unit also comes with wrist strap and USB data cable. Excellent condition with no scratches or other imperfections. $200.
  11. Thanks for your suggestions. I agree that she almost needs a Nuvi and a handheld. She won't like to hear that, but she also doesn't want to spend more than $500 or so for her little system. The kicker is that she won't be going out alone, so why she needs the verbalization is beyond me. Thanks again!
  12. I have a friend who is wanting to geocache and who is insisting on having a GPSr that "talks" to her (verbalizes street names, etc.). I know that the Nuvi will verbalize, but is it also geocache friendly? I am really trying to talk her into a handheld, but I'm not sure if there is a "talking" handheld GPSr out there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
