I have a Garmin Etrex Venture HC and it DOES have the USB.....I would go with that, not the H.

My car (A Silver Altima) is Silvie and my GPS ( a yellow Garmin Etrex Venture HC) is Peepers.

I don't know about the Dakota but if looking for something simple and easy to use the Garmin is great. I just bought it as a newbie and love it.

I'm fairly new to caching. We started about a week ago and at first we bought the Explorist and hated it. It was not intuitive and hard to use. I returned it and bought the Garmin Etrex Venture HC instead and LOVE it. For a newbie I would highly recommend it. It's easy to use and learn. Just my humble opinion by a newbie!
