  1. When you post your Found it on the cache before you hit submit, scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you will see the bugs in your inventory - select action Dropped to place the bug.

If you have already posted your Found it you can post a Note on the cache to do the Drop.

To the best of my knowledge I did just that but the travel bug still shows in my inventory and not at the cache. In fact i have done it twice

  2. I placed a travel bug TB2VYH4 in cache GC1ZoQ5. The bug still shows in my inventory and not at the cache. I followed the instructions as best I could but no results. Is there a time delay in posting the change?

  3. Also, check to make sure that your "style" setting (underneath the "log type" setting - on the menu where you choose whether it's a "found it" or a "didn't find it," etc.) is set to "post as log" rather than "submit as field note." If you've got it set to submit as a field note, then they won't show up on your "found" caches yet.

If you have submitted some caches as field notes, then check your geocaching profile (on a computer, not your phone), and on the right-hand side there will be an "access your field notes" link. You can turn field notes into logs from there.

OK That was the problem. All my logs were in the Field Notes folder on my computer

    Thanks

  4. Hit the menu button and go to settings. Username and password are at the top of the screen. If you using the full paid version of the app.

I found the user name and password and they are correct. What is limiting the movement of my logs from the phone to my information on Geosearch?

  5. Assuming your using the Geocaching app for your iPhone you should be logged into the app via your user name and password you use to log in here. Same would go for logging caches on your phone through the web page.

I see no means of logging into the Geocaching app on my phone. It just opens and I use it. I find no identity when I open the app. The only thing I have found is the app has my e mail listed. I was just on Geonavigation and it had instructions of how to link other phones saying to go into settings but the I Phone dose not have that option.

It appears when I send a Field Lofg it is just going to outer space.

  6. It appears I am signed in on my I Phone by my e mail address. The problem is when ever I make a field log it never appears on my list of found items on my computer. Should my I Phone be set to my user name so logs sent will be displayed on my computer. If so how do I change my identity on the I Phone?

  7. I think I have found my problem. I had sent in logs for all of my Found Caches and right after that those caches did not appear on my searches. However a day later I had to change my Password and that new password produced searches that showed all my Found Caches. I have resubmitted the Found Caches under the new password and so far they are not appearing in current searches. One can only hope this is the answer.

  8. The latest update on the iPhone4 seems to have messed around with all my apps. Just restart the phone, and if that doesn't work, connect it to iTunes. that seems to help me every once in a while.

How do I do a Hard Reset? After a Hard Reset will I have to rest list all Founds in order for them to be excluded?

No. A reset isn't going to affect your finds.

If not a reset is there an answer to the question? Why do those Found caches still appear if exclude is enabled?

  10. Hi I am new to this had a couple of searches but no finds until today. I am trying to log the find on the iphone but althoogh I am now in the house and on a wireless network it is still saying "Your logs coud not send at this time please try later"?

any advice on how I can long my first find?

I won't try to enplane how to log on your phone directly as I am still hit and miss on that one my self.

On your computer sign into Geocaching and go to the cache your are tring to log. You can search directly to that cache if you have the cache # or if it was close to home do a general search and select it and open that page. In the upper right of the page just under the cache # you will see LOG YOUR VISIT. Click on that and select the TYPE OF LOG. You can complete your log there, add comments, and post a picture.

  11. Make sure you are actually logged into the app. I have noticed on occasion that I get logged out when attempting to drop a trackable through the app and have to log back in. So this might be why you are seeing them again.

Got it. There was no indication I was not signed in.

    Thanks

  12. The check box is for downloading them in batches of 20 as LOC files (suitable for direct upload via cable to your GPS).

Any search can filter out caches you own or have found by adding "&f=1" to the end of the website address.

For example here's the codes for searching around N 41° 30.000 W 088° 30.000 - first with all caches, then with the caches I've found or hidden removed:

    start with geocaching.com then add:

    /seek/nearest.aspx?lat=41.5&lng=-88.5

    /seek/nearest.aspx?lat=41.5&lng=-88.5&f=1

    Thanks that works

    Hi

I could not follow your illustration but took the info and did this. I removed everything after the Ampersand http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?lat=40.326444& lng=-74.63545999999997&dist=25 in the web address and add "F=1"

But just doing an advanced search gives the option to Exclude my finds

    That worked

    Thanks another problem solved

Don't delete the other stuff just tack on the &f=1

    Thanks again that works

  15. When I search on Geocaching.com for a list of caches close by I would like to exclude those caches I have already found. Can this be done.

Also what is the small check box to the left of each cache listing for? That ws what I thought would give the option to remove a cache.

  16. To remove found caches from your search using the iPhone app, click Menu (upper left hand corner), Settings, Search Options, My Finds, Exclude My Finds.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks IT DID

This may have worked when I first got your note but not now. I went into settings, search options, and my finds and enabled exclude my finds. All of my finds still appear on the phone when ashed for nearest.

Along that line. How do I exclude my finds on my computer. Any cache I open to look at remains pink after that but I have no way to tell if I found it and remove it from the list for future searches.

  17. You can use the "Map it" feature to navigate to a waypoint. Open it up, and where it gives the "You are here" coords, back them out, then enter the new coordinates and press Done.

The small bullseye icon next to the coordinates displays (or toggles off) a blue dot showing where you currently are.

I've used this method a few times...

When I work through this option I get a notice We currently do not support the location, my e mail address, send us feedback. There is an additional problem. Once on this page there is NO WAY to get out of it other than.

Are you using the full Groundspeak app or the trial app?

Version 4.2.2 I assume it is the full version.

  19. The 'Map It' button on the menu screen shows your current location - it is nothing to do with any cache coordinates you may have entered.

You need to be looking at the cache itself, then do 'Navigate to Geocache' to get the app to show you a map with the cache on it (and your current location).

If you need to enter additional coordinates (more than just the default ones that are there already) for a puzzle cache or a multi cache, then while looking at the 'Navigate to Geocache' map just press the little flag button and then you can add one or more additional waypoints to that cache. If you also do 'Add as Favourite' for this cache, then the App will remember your manually added waypoints next time you come back to it, even if your phone has been turned off in the meantime.

I followed these instruction from the Navigate to Geocache and used the flag to insert a new name and L&L hit done and this did nothing with respect to the location on the map.

  20. I have the Geocache app v4.2.2. The problem is I have not been able to figure out how to input L&L. Once I select Map it L&L is displayed in the upper left corner of the map but there is NO WAY to cancel it as there is on a back function to remove letters to the left. Those letters no showing on the screen remain at the end of any input I enter.

The way I found this problem was I had solved a puzzle and put the results in Google Earth on my computer and located the area. The area was on a thin land mass between a lake and a canal. However when I tried it on the Iphone it put me in the middle of a field that did not fit the description of the cache location so I knew it was wrong.

Had I not know about wher the cache was and just gone looking I would have been a 1/2 mile off.
