  1. Yes you do. Odds are you rely on the cache description to be somewhat truthful. You will find (if you haven't already) the kids like swag that means hunting for larger containers to maximize the fun. IN turn that means you rely on cache owners telling the truth about cache size. You will also find your kids like to find the cache or at least have a chance at finding the cache. That last thing you need is to follow after Mr. "I don't give a hoot about my logs" who logs they found caches that are in fact missing so you waste your time and have less fun than you could have. What should you do about this? If you happen to place a cache and you happen to find a log thats Bunk, delete it. Don't encourage it. Don't sweep it under the carpet. The real truth is you haven't realized how much you rely on the honesty of others in this activity to keep it fun for you. Even the ones championing false logs rely on the honesty of others in this activity to maximize their enjoyment. Actually we cache sans paper. When we get to GZ, we have no idea what we're looking for. I run PQ's and use GSAK to dump right into my GPS. That's how we like to do it. It's more fun. So, that explained, please don't argue with what I said and leverage my comments to make your point, mkay? Thanks so much.
  2. It's too bad for everyone that there are people who can't follow your example. fortunately for all, people like them are mostly limited to hanging out here on the forums, and in my experience, most people in "the real world" are kinder and less concerned about trying to control other people. I know, right? I thought this would be a great place to swap stories and learn some tricks to finding caches since we're kind of new. Instead, almost every thread turns into a brawl. I wonder if these same people got together in a room if they'd start throwing punches or if they'd be civilized humans. Probably civilized humans. Which begs the question - what exactly is it about a keyboard that turns Dr. Jekyl into Mr. Hyde? It's an interesting phenomenon that I've seen countless times.
  3. I can't believe this thread is still alive. I cache with my grandkids because it's a fun way for us to spend time together. If we piddle around and make two finds on a Saturday we're happy campers. It's about US havin fun as a family TOGETHER. I don't really give a hoot how anyone else goes about their caching. I think this is 12 pages of mostly junior high, adolescent, snotty behavior. Let's grow up and be at peace. Geocaching is for fun. This is so NOT fun!
  4. I joined almost 3 years ago, but have only cached sporadically since. I have a blast but time just doesn't permit more. Work, home, family, etc. I'd love to go out a lot more!! ETA - 419162 that's pretty cool, I'm on the early 1/2.
  5. I like micros and everything else. We live in an urban environment, so micros are very plentiful. They take us to places we never saw before or knew existed. One or two have been in nasty places, but on the whole - good times! If you don't like them, don't search for them. My family will look for any hides of any variety. My Grandson really wants to do a night cahce in the boonies. This granny gets spooked in the boonies at nightk, so he's out of luck. That is my only pickiness.
  6. I'm fairly new and I like seeing the diversity of topics. If I open one and begin reading and don't enjoy it, I move on. No big deal. If we were all 10, then maybe censorship might be needed. Oh! I know.. let's have a special forum for people that write excessively long posts. I never read them and that would get them out of my way. Edited for spelling
  7. Sorry, didn't realize there was a specific forum for this. Although I must confess that I didn't look.
  8. I have the blue ones. Two of them are brand new for Christmas gifts. I didn't know they were an older model. Shortcuts are great - share!!!!!?????
  9. I sent a couple of emails to GCers that never responded. Oh well, I put their cache on "ignore" and moved on. It's no big deal? What, am I to get annoyed over a cache I cannot find? There are thousands of other caches to look for!! PS - I don't answer all my emails either. I just don't have time. Family and best of friends - everyone else, not so much.
  10. I cache w/ my grandkids and by myself every once in a while. Truth to tell, I enjoy the solitary outings very much! I go at my own pace, rest when I like, stop and enjoy the surrounds quite a bit. But then I start thinking.. J would love that! or DM would've found that soooooo easy... LOL
  11. They're all there! WooooHooooooooooooo Thanks guys! You're the best! Any more tricks to impart? Cool things I should know?
  12. oooooooooooohhh.. I just looked by name and there are 20 - the last 20 that I loaded in. Ok, I'm going to delete all and put in 150, then look to see how many are there! I never thought to change how I was looking!! d'oh! thanks so much - I'll let you know if all 150 loaded in!
  13. My Garmin will only accept 16 waypoints when I load them in using GSAK. It doesn't matter if I attempt to load 150 or 20. It will only accept in 16. If I try to add more to the 16 - nopers. My users manual doesn't specifiy a waypoint limit. Is this common? Is there a way to override this 16 limit? My gps is a Garmin Etrex Legend. I love it. But I don't love this!! TIA for any advice! Mickie
  14. If GS was encouraging hiders to delete DNF's to save bandwith then they would also disable the option to currently log DNF's so as to not add more to the server. Anaheim's logic is severely flawed.
  15. Can you guys please take your debate to a private place via PM, IM, cell phones or something? I'm actually interested in this topic and you're cluttering it up! Thanks! I'm sure that's one definition of law. I'm not sure what your point is by using that definition. My only point in using that definition is that if I decide to stand up and say that "Mushtang uses 'H's excessively", the government cannot tell me I can't do that I disahgree thhat your definition of LAW makes that point at ahhhhl. Thhat only depends on HHOW I attempt to stop you. H. There are completely legal ways to keep someone from saying stupid things. Ahhhhhhhhh, but your ability to stand up and talk smack about my letters is only protected from the government by the first amendment. There will be no laws passed to keep you from dissing my spelling if you whant to. There are laws (not the 1st amendment) that keep me from doing certain things to stop you (if I wanted to). H By the government. The constitution has the Bill Of Rights in an effort to keep the government from taking too muchhh control of our lives away from us. I thhink we'll agree on this one. H. HH. The only way I would disagree with this is if you then suggested that the "free speech" you enjoy in the forums is somehow protected by the 1st amendment. And you don't use enough spaces.
  16. I've done a couple of multis. They were fun, but my G'kids get to anxious puting in so much time for one find. So, we generally do the singles.
  17. Yep, a little trickier when it's a jeep though. You won't likely get a response from the owner. Why is getting the info more difficult on the jeeps?
  18. I log my DNF's because then I know I need to try harder next time. After the terrible floods we had here, a couple of them turned out to be missing. Can't find 'em all! YET!
  19. I'm sure you're right. I was having an over-reactionary moment in time.
  20. OMG - I love this picture!!! I am no longer stressed over this. Seriously. It was my G'kids 1st ever hide and I was taking it much too seriously. It's only 1/2 mile from my house. I can check on it any time - no biggie! Thanks for all the reality check statements! You're all awesome peeps!
  21. It seriously doesn't matter what other people do. It mattered in Jr High, but we're adults now, right? Live your life.. be happy.. be at peace.. have FUN. Let everyone else do the same.
  22. The person has over 6000 finds, so maybe #1 is applicable. How funny to worry over a box in the trees. Wind, no.. well sheltered No houses face it A low traffic country lane Who knows .. and who knows why I'm stressed over it. I fixed it, time to let it go. LOL
  23. Ok, my grandkid created, cammoed and hid 1st cache. It was a proud moment in time, let me tell you!! The FTF'er logged the find on the site. I went by to look over the cache.. just cuz I reckon.. and it was not replaced as found. None of the leaves and grass were put back on top. Any passerby could've noticed it. Now why would the person do that? I don't understand at all. Some input would be appreciated.
  24. Wreckelite, my USAF kiddo, is heading to Germany, Ramstein AFB, in March. Ask her to turn one loose over there for you. I'm sure she'd be glad to do it.
  25. Ah, well that makes perfect sense! You're most welcome! This is a great site, I like supporting it. Now, If I can just figure out pocket queries I'll be all set!
