  1. I have a GPS V, got it almost 2 years ago, and just love it. I am thinking about a PDA, and the iQue 3600 has caught my eye. I like the idea of an all in one unit, voice turn by turn directions, maps, and all the options I have come to love about the V. I'm concerned about the water resistance, and durability of the iQue 3600 under normal caching conditions. (I can be rough on stuff) I also see that the iQue 3600 has a patch antenna where the V has a helix. If I remember correctly the helix is better. I also like the idea of no cables needed from GPS to the PDA, or a GPS card. I will NOT be replacing my V with the 3600, but keeping it as a backup / rugged use unit. If anyone has experience with both units, or the V and another PDA please let me know. Thanks, ProStreet
  2. Lets not forget about Under Where? This is one of my caches I hid in a local lake.
  3. So when I click on nearest to me from my cache page, I want to see just the caches I need to do. I have to do a new search every time I want to check for new caches??? Don't like it!!!
  4. Hell I never heard of Navicache. (Oops I used the H and the N words) There only is 1 within 100 miles of me.
  5. I also have played with this option in USA Photo maps, "my" only problem with this is talking my wife into letting me get a laptop!!!
  6. I have a cache that is in 8 feet of water 150 yards off shore. I used a 4" PVC pipe, (Don’t have to worry about rust) It does seem to get some water inside. Zartimus is correct about the cacher might have trouble finding the anchor to replace the cache. I had to put mine back once due to the cachers GPS crapping out due to water getting into it. Check out my "Under Where?" cache. I have even had cachers attempt to retrieve the cache through the ice.
  7. I also noted the map takes longer to come up after a turn too, but I like the popup that asks if I want to recalculate when off route. I always hated it when the road was moved or I get off the highway to get a burger or what ever, and it goes nuts trying to recalculate.
  8. One of my most favorite caches I have done was the Covert Cache. This one is also in a restaurant. And from all the posts on it, it is a big hit. It has one of the best themes I have seen. If you come to Milwaukee I would recomend this one that is in a restaurant!!
  9. The lid on mine is nice and tight, almost too tight. It sure won’t pop open on its own!!!
  10. This is the smallest micro I have ever seen, well done too!!
  11. I just received my latest AOL CD in the mail and it came in a tin about 5X5X 1/4" thick. When I saw it I thought it would make a neat cache can. I have seen Altoid cans used so I think I will give this a shot. Don’t know where I'm going to use it at yet.
  12. Are your batteries loose, and does your unit cut out if you shake it? Naw....I got a free spring spacer to fix that, but my click stick is acting goofy, and the side seal is comming off.
  13. Well I E-mailed Garmin, they sent me a spring spacer free. There were no instructions included as to where is the best place to put it is? Is it better to put it in first, after 2 batteries or in last?
  14. I also use & deg ; no spaces i.e. 360°
  15. I use the rocker button to put the pointer on the map at the point I want to project from, and hold enter to make a new waypoint. On the "mark waypoint" page I click map. (note the waypoint name first) Click enter and move will come up next to the waypoint. Use the rocker to move to the correct distance and bearing you desire. Click enter to save the waypoint at the projected point.
  16. Your not obsessed unless you have this travel bug in your Travel Bugs that you found list!!! I think?!?
  17. I have an underwater cache I put out this last spring. The only problem I had with the cache was stopping the water from seeping in. It is in only 8 feet of water, and can be done from the beach with swim fins and mask. It is called Under Where?, check it out!!
  18. Bruce is the real deal!!! I came across Bruce on the way out of the B.A. Baracus cache. It took me about 90 minutes to find that cache. After we talked for about 5 minutes I was on my way to the next cache Murdock. I was at the cache site for maybe 5 minutes and who come walking up the path? You guessed it, it was Bruce! We both looked around for 10 minutes before being joined by CheeseHead Dave. Another 10 minutes of looking and we decided it had been plundered. We all started walking out at the same time, Bruce was out of sight in no time!! When he says he walks faster than the normal person, he's not joking!!! I had to go home due to lack of sleep, but Dave and Bruce were both on there way to the same cache from there, Shoop's Lake View. Bruce was there and gone before Dave even got there. I would have to say Bruce is the guru of geocaching!!! [This message was edited by ProStreet on January 16, 2003 at 09:35 AM.]
  19. I was getting a pop up from Messenger service, this is how to stop that in XP. Go to Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services and find the service called “Messenger” in the list. Double click on it and change the startup mode to “Manual” then click the stop button.
  20. I also had that happen to my GPS V when I had easy GPS and USA Photo Maps both open at the same time. I closed one and it worked, it was like they were having a conflict with each other.
  21. I had that happen with my V too. You need to have all the maps that are used on the route loaded from MapSource. If you are missing a map that you used to make the route it will say (maps didnt match)
  22. I know that an ammo can would stay dry but I like the looks of a tube type container for the underwater cache. Would the Mortar tube be easy to screw open after sitting underwater for a month? Could some type of growth make the threads jamb up? I like the look of the Mortar tubes and I think I will give it a shot.
  23. Do you think the Mortar tubes would keep the water out in an underwater cache? I have a underwater cache I'm fighting to keep dry. "Under Where?" is in about 8 feet of water. [This message was edited by ProStreet on October 11, 2002 at 12:36 PM.]
  24. To load the latest or any update you want to, all you need to do is drag that file to the "UPDATER.EXE". I.E. drag "015501000208.rgn" for 2.08. If you want to go back to 2.07 drag "015501000207.RGN" to the updater. I keep all the updates in the same file, and keep them all just incase I have to revert back to an old one.
