  1. Congrats Benny Jr. Most people are only involved with themselves, its nice that people that are not, get awarded. Most Geocachers have a hard time figuring out how to be steathy, must be hard to be a geocacher and a president.
  2. A mailbox like this? http://www.untitledname.com/archives/uploa...-box-harlem.jpg I think I would definatly enjoy finding one of those out in the middle of nowhere. But I am looking for a better description of swizzles idea. I get confused every time I read it
  3. In the last 7 days, there have been 180010 new logs written by 30745 account holders. That averages 5 caches per person per week. I know I only get one per week. I wonder how much CCCCoperagency gets in a week, average?
  4. Any pictures of the mailbox idea. Pictures make things easier for me.
  5. I understand fun in hiking. He has cattle on the ranch and my worst fear would be somone leaving the gate open. So I have a 10' space next to the road.
  6. yes thats just the same. Mine would be outdoors. Thanks for the picture. Any cons for this type of container? Edit: oops didnt notice Team Neos post But I would like to have a cache that is larger than an ammo can. any ideas?
  7. My friend has given me permission to place a cache on the side of his ranch. I would like to put a Large size container out by the road. Normaly I would not like this idea but I thought if I have a way to protect it, it would be better. I plan on building a box that would hold a five gallon bucket. The box would be raised off the ground to get it away from moisture. The box would have a lock on it to keep it from opening. I would paint the outside to make it look like its supposed to be there. Tell me the bad parts about a cache like this so I can improve on it. THANKS
  8. now that it is working, I LOVE GSAK
  9. I created two query's. One generated within about 10 minutes. It has been almost an hour and the other has not generated. I know there is a specific time for gerneration but how do I get it to generate if that time is passed.
  10. can someone foward their pocket results so that I can play around with GSAK geounicyclist@gmail.com Thanks Edit: it worked thanks for all your help
  11. if I want to do a mass download do I have to wait for an email?
  12. 1. With the pocket query function, click the preview the search link. I check the caches I want to download then click the download waypoints button on the bottome of the page. (firefox) It brings up a screen saying the waypoints are in loc format. I go to edit the pocket cache format and it still says its in GPX format. 2. 2 is the same as option 1 right? 3. This is the only one that has worked for me.
  13. ok I got it to work, If I downloaded a pocket list it does not work. I went to a cache page and clicked the indivdual download link and it worked. Not sure why pocket download didnt work
  14. I downloaded it yesterday so I have version 6.6.1.
  15. When I create a pocket list, I make sure that it is not in LOC format but in GPX format. I download a geocache (in GPX format) and open the icon on my desktop. When it opens it gives me three options of 1. Exact Match 2. Wild card match 3. geocaching owner number. I choose Wild card because that sounds the best from what it says. It then brings up a warning screen that tells me how bad LOC files are. It seems to me that it thinks these files are in LOC format. Any help? I am a premium member so I do have access to GPX
  16. Stock Price of a Garmin Etrex $100 Stock Price of a Magellan Gold $300 I have only had a Gold for a week but I still prefer my basic Etrex over the gold. Etrex Pros--has little arrow Gold Pros--has maps, Gold cons--have to bye software to type in address to address directions.
  17. I was thinking about the Magellan Gold. It has mapping on it, but, can you type in an address and it tell directions?
  18. My reservation is super easy. My station wagons fold down back seat! And drive into the park early in the morning to go shower and clean up. Boy do I love my station wagon.
  19. If you walk up to a librarian while everything is busy and you explain Geocahing as "a sport where people walk around in public gardens" is not the way to do it. Explain the Good things such as getting kids active with their parents. and so on. From what I have heard about library caches is there must be a physical container with a log. But one main problem is that GPS's dont work inside of a building. So there is usually a container outside with a dewey decimal number on the container or on a peice of paper. I would also agree with finding more before you hide one. When I first started (not that long ago) I thought it cant be that hard. I now relize that the hide must be good to be hidden from muggles. Have a great night! Unicyclist
  20. 1. Is it in the road? If so I'm not sure but the difficulty sure needs to be high. 2. There are caches actually in many librarys. But if its indoors you NEED permission. If its outdoors, I would not worry. 3. Small Community parks are welcome IMHO
  21. I was Geocaching by my self for the very first time. All I had was Google Maps to help me. It turned out to be a fake rock. And ive never seen one of those before. So I pulled the plastic piece off the bottom. BUT I did promply buy super glue and fixed it. And then told the owner.
