  1. That is a really great article, now on my bookmark list. It explains geocaching better than almost any other article I have read. On thing that is stuck in my mind that I can not think of a correct answer to..... in the article in mentions TB and geocoins as a varation of geocaching. Are they a varation or just an add on?
  2. try talking to somone different at the parks and rec dept.
  3. Does the guy mind that some people just wonder around parks? I love just going to a park and wondering around. People playing football is worse (in my opinion) than geocachers. Football takes up a great amout of space (usually). Geocaching is to the point and in a small confined area.
  4. There was a geocaching in the planning (I am not sure if it is complete and published yet) that would cover all 50 US states.
  5. First, I don't think this belongs in the units and software forum at all, it should remain where it started, in the general discussion forum. +1... I also think this should be where it started. about the premium membership thing its all been debated before
  6. Top map would be the route Google Maps would give me. Bottom map would be the feature I would want to be able to choose.
  7. I have also wanted the same basic thing. I would like to find a map site that you can click on where you want to turn. Planning your own route would be great.
  8. There was one about 1 mile away from my house that was def tresspassing. I emailed the owner about two or three times with no response. I know alot of drug dealing and using goes in in this wooded area. I used to ride bikes around in this dryed up lake, I never got caught, but I know many people that got tresspassing tickets. I finally got fed up with no mention of "no tresspassing" of it in the description. I waypointed all the signs and emailed the owner with lat/lon and pictures for all 5 signs. Still no response. So I sent a email to the local reviewer and it was archived.
  9. Dude this guys talkin like hes hot stuff, never had a DNF. I bet thats hard when youve found a total of 22 caches umm... you were just PWNED pwned??? When you first started geocaching, I bet in the first 5 caches you looked for you had at least one DNF. If he just started and has 22 finds, 0 DNF..........That guy is amazing. Edit:
  10. I log a DNF only if I dont entend on going back in a week. (ex) If I dont find it today and plan to go back tomorrow. or if I just give up I log a DNF
  11. I am not much of a numbers person. That said, I would revisit the cache and log it with no mention of the FTF. Anybody that visits the cache will know, so as long as it is in writing on the log, why does it really matter?
  12. +1 Edit: But why would you try to find them pre-publication? The FTF you did was fair.....IF...... you did not get the lat/lon unfairly
  13. I thought about this, if part of the fun of FTF's is being the first on the "race" to the cache, whats the fun in starting early? If somone challenged you to a track race. A 1 mile race at 2:00 pm tomorrow. Would you mind if they started the race today, before the offical time?
  14. It is somtimes upto the cache owner. I have given the lat/lon out to some of the friendly local cachers to get their thumbs up before I even submit it for review. That way it cuts down on the reviewers work, and mine.
  15. What do you mean by "cheater"? by "cheater" I mean.....there are some people that go looking for unpublished caches. To me, that is unfair. Rumor is that the gap in the system is now closed. So to all unpublished lookers........HAHAHA (evil laugh)
  16. IP address does not mean much. There is a new version (spin-off) of Firefox. It randomizes your IP address to other areas of the world etc. I have heard of wireless users go around the city using other internet waves from different sources. So unless they are actually using a desktop computer, and are not very smart, it would be very hard to find them I have a desktop computer, but I Torpark browser, I can change my IP address with one click.
  17. just wondering, why would you want to do this? I dont think your a "cheater" since this is your 100th post. I would be more cautious if this was your first post.
  18. The main part with this I see.....If somone destorys the map, forgets to put it back, rips it in half on accident, will you be able to replace it in a timely manner? I also though of somthing like this. I would go to a local state park, have a topo map with points and etc that you have to find, basicly follow the lines using an old school compass. But I am afraid of people not returning the map and I would have to go and pay $5 for a new map each time.
  19. oooo, I like that idea hikergps. It would be WAY to much to scan through each page to see if somone is rating about the same thing as you. If I want support about my rant on lameness, I want my on topic thing.
  20. Wow, thanks! Each one of those has a different style. Some are skinny some are wide. Some have a cool font format etc.
  21. I have made a back template. Im not sure how to post the template on the internet.......any ideas?? Until I can load it onto the internet, if you PM me with your email address I will mail the back to you.
  22. I have also been looking for geocaching log sheets that are similar, but not the same as the ones shown on the forums and google. The kind I find in Geocaches have the front side like the link above, but have printed lines on the back. Every website I find has the front side, but not the lined back.
  23. become a premium member. Its $3 a month, or $30 for a year. It gives you the feature called pocket queries. It has some GREAT search options. Cook at home instead of eating out for one day and you will have the amount of money needed for that month. Come on, support Geocaching.com. You have found 156 geocaches from the website, $30 for a year really helps!!! If you dont want to pay the closest way would be to scroll down all the pages until you find the one.
  24. My guess would be where the very first geocache was placed. Yes I know its still not there, but its what started the sport.
  25. maybe a fishing rod n' reel, with bait and hooks hidden nearby.
