I can help if you like. I live in Norfolk. I was born in North Walsham and have caches in the area. I also run a high school geocaching club where I teach in north Suffolk. It does depend on when you want to do it really though. If it was in the school summer holidays we could be onto a winner. I'm just off to the Lake District for a geography field trip with my year 10's for a week but I will try to check if you've replied to this post in the next couple of days...

So basically you click on 'Your Profile' then 'Quick View' then 'Member Features' and you can scroll down a little where there are links you can click to help you set these up.

I'm amazed at how often there is a 'blanket' terrain rating for a series just to 'reflect the nature of the walk'. How unhelpful is that? I can see its a long walk when I view the caches on the map on the website. I don't need to be reminded every time I open up a new cache on the GPSr!
To me, a good terrain rating will tell you something about the terrain at GZ. If its up a tree and climbing is involved then bump the terrain rating up to reflect this. If its lying on the ground and could be accessed by wheelchair then its a 1-star terrain rating. I always find the terrain rating as helpful (if not more so) that the difficulty rating when used properly.

My brain has gone into meltdown. A couple of months ago I hyperlinked my own geocaching profile page onto one of my brothers' caches (http://coord.info/GC3DGPQ) I successfully hyperlinked on this page because it contained a full web address at the top in the browser bar. I'm trying to hyperlink my brothers caching name on one of my caches now, and although I can get into his caching account I can't do it because the full web address of the url is not in the browser bar. How do I find it? How did I find it before?

Someone I know has created a joint series of caches with a fellow cacher. He is responsible for half of the caches and his fellow cacher for the other half. As he lives near the series he has logged the remaining half as 'found to clear the search radius.' This is perhaps a more acceptable reason for logging them maybe? It must be rather annoying to see caches on his map that he simply cannot remove. Or could he have put them on an ignore list so they won't crop up on a search?

If you like touchscreen GPS devices I would go for the Oregon 450 as Andy says. Great bit of kit!

People get far too hung up about signing log books. If you found it, you found it. Whether the CO believes you or not is their problem. I would never delete a log from someone who said they found one of my caches and didn't have a pen or pencil. Why on earth would they lie about finding it? That would be ever sadder than deleting someone's log. It's a game when all said and done...

Hi there. I've been caching over a year now. I live just outside Norwich and have set my own trail of 12 caches in and around Swardeston. At the moment its only set up so premium members can see it so you probably can't see it on the map. There are plenty of good trails out there though and in Norfolk and Suffolk we are blessed with many high quality caches. Good luck and drop me a line if you need any help whatsoever...

You could check out the series in Mundesley in Norfolk, created by myself and my brother refluxman... Plenty of favourites. Have a good one whichever ones you choose!

I've literally just bought a P7 from Amazon thinking it will enable me to go night caching. I'm waiting for it to arrive as I write this. I hope I won't be disappointed. Will it be OK for the odd bit of night caching??

Jeremy has said they will count towards your find count.
Well, not exactly. He said that there would basically be 2 different counts on your profile, one for standard caches and one for challenges.
Another cool thing he did say (imho) was that if you are out and about with a mobile device and stumble upon a fantastic location to create a challenge, such as a photo challenge then you would be able to create a listing out there in the field without having to return to your PC and write it up.

Definitely go for talkytoaster's maps. I put them onto my Garmin Oregon without too much hassle. It's a great service that he offers, and all for free!!

Just to let everyone know that I am now the very proud owner of an Oregon 450t. Set up TT's OSM maps and away I went. Used it for two caching trips and I'm extremely pleased with it, so thanks for everyone for contributing...

Having said that, I have no idea whatsoever what particular setting on the maritime profile was causing the maps not to show properly. Anybody with an Oregon or something similar got a clue??

Well what a doughnut!!
When I inherited the device it seems the profile was set to 'maritime' Simply switching it to 'recreational' or 'geocaching' solved the problem instantly!

Weird thing is, if I rename my OS maps "OSDISC.IMG" and leave them on the card it still finds them and operates the maps! Why aren't these OSM maps working for me?
I'm beginning to think I have a defective unit that wont render the roads properly... Is this possible?

Thanks Bernard but it still doesn't work
I've now renamed the files on the SD card and its the same as before. It 'sort of' loads the maps as I can see buildings (in grey) and trees (in green) and the rest of the background is in a sort of peach colour. I cannot see any roads or paths at all - there's just a blank space where the roads should be basically.
I'm getting very frustrated now

What am I doing wrong??
I've just inherited a Garmin Oregon 450t. I have a micro SD card in it with the UK OS Discoverer Maps on and they are working just fine. There is a folder on the SD card called GARMIN and there are two files inside that folder (GMAPSUPP.IMG and GMAPSUPP.UNL) So far so good...
I've downloaded TT's maps, unzipped them and renamed it to GMAPSUPP.IMG but Ive placed it in the internal memory of the Oregon in the folder called 'Garmin' (I placed it here as I thought if I put it on the SD card it would replace the files already on the SD card as they're called the same thing...)
When I switch on the Oregon I can switch the OS maps on and off no problem and they work just fine, and it DOES also tell me that the TT OSM is there but when I switch it on I never see any roads on the screen at all (not even in the middle of Norwich where I presume the OSM is fine) There are some details, but nothing like it should look like at all.
If I wanted to place this TT map file on the micro SD card how could I have the OS maps too if the files are called the same thing? I just want to be able to switch between OS maps and TT maps, but as I said - they don't seem to be loaded up properly even though they are on the internal memory of the device.
Any help greatly massively appreciated

I agree about the emails if you are a CO, but I must say that I do like the new notification emails that now tell you which CO has put the cache out.
