  1. I usually cache alone or with my dogs. I don't think twice about being alone in the woods, but as a female I sometimes wonder if I'm being stupid to cache alone in more urban parks (where there are true creepy men!). I always take my dogs when I'm not sure, and always have my phone whenever I cache. It makes me mad that I even have to think like that, but unfortunately it's a reality.
  2. I also have a new 60cs and had the problem of routing on the computer map, but when I transfered the route to my GPSr I got a straight line. Tried all your helpful hints (much appreciated!) and still got straight line. Just spent some time with a very nice Garmin help person, and figured out this simple thing. When I chose routes, and selected a route, I then selected "map" at the bottom to view my mapped route, and saw the straight line. But if I select "navigate" instead of "map" it asks me "Follow road" or "off road" and off road had been selected; hence the straight line. I checked "follow road" and got my detailed route! Someday I'll figure this all out! Thanks everyone in these forums for all your valuable advice.
  3. I got a 60cs and City Select v7 for Christmas. Then my husband had to go out and buy a new computer with a DVD drive and more memory because it requires so much! Good thing he got a big bonus and likes to buy computers! Now it all works fine, although I notice v.7 is at least five years outdated on the restaurants in my area. So much for being up to date, and I'm sure there won't be another upgrade.
  4. I ordered from Caplink Technologies, which I like because they have free shipping. I originally ordered a Magellan explorist 600, then changed at the last minute to the Garmin 60cs, and the guy was good enough to give it to me for the same price. Several weeks later I went to order the CS v.7 for $107, and it was out of stock, replaced by the CNav. So my dilemma remains, should I order a CS v.7 from somewhere, or the CNav? I think I'll stick with the Garmin 60cs rather than wait for the new version with memory expansion. Sounds great, but I have to draw the financial line somewhere!
  5. I just tried to order CS V. 7 today to go with my new (unopened) Garmin 60CS, and was told it was discontinued and from now on they would ship CN in its place for the same price. My only concern is what I have read about the regions being in bigger chunks with CN, and using lots of memory in my 60CS. Now I'm reading about a new 60 model that will take memory cards, and I'm second guessing my 60CS purchase. I know I could chase technology forever and keep spending ever more, but... I'd love to have more memory if I really need it. Any recommendations from more experienced cachers?

  7. Hi, I am very new at this and want to place my first travel bug. Does the item (toy, or whatever) to which you attach the TB have to have a hole in it so the chain can go through? Any tips would be appreciated!
