  1. Change your "reporting" to filter out anything below 3 stars of terrain. You cannot change the way everyone else plays or places caches, but you can be selective about which ones you decide to visit. Challenge yourself to be picky Challenge your friends to hide caches they will dare you to retrieve
  2. Make it a "bird-watching" event, specify a route that you will be using to watch said birds. Coincidentally it may pass by geocaches (or not) - just make sure you do not mention that Give out prizes for most proper identifications
  3. Interested, but that date is un-doable for me. will watch thread with interest
  4. rules change - note how that rule no longer appears
  5. Those last 3 have been taunting me for nearly 2 years now - And i am unlikely to get to them this year or next. Good luck 3bearss!
  6. They did, even put a cache inside the fence to commemorate it http://coord.info/GC29VNQ
  7. MIDLAND - most of the caches in the midland area are easy drive-bys (and there are hundreds and hundreds of them!) If you would like to make an interesting day there is a rail trail that goes along the northern coast. If your friend has a spare bike I recommend making a day of it! It will take you to the best parts of the area, and all the community beaches that are worth visiting.
  8. Thanks everyone!! Glad that we campers didn't get swept off in a flash flood (though the thought had struck me during the lightning storms at 3am). What would spring experience be without camping in the rain? Thanks to everyone who braved the rain! Saw atleast 3 or 4 times the amount of smiles at the event then I am seeing in the logs!
  9. There is a broken link in the new template. note the "View past Trackable" link actually exists, but doesn't hyper-reference anything.
  10. wouldn't paper logbooks also be considered damaging to trees? ...
  11. whoa, im such a stooge.. here I've been doing it for free all those years..
  12. most caches are just hid by the lamppost manufacturing companies as advertisements... Its all a conspiracy maaaaaaaaan!
  13. Elle vous appelle menteur: Votre traduction indique que le NCC a demandé leur suppression, ce qui n'est pas le cas. Peut-être une meilleure façon de dire ce qui serait "The National Capital Commission (NCC) wishes to control Geocaching in the Gatineau Park. It is currently setting a procedure for caches within its territory, and as such, I am asking geocachers to archive all caches in the park, regardless of wether they have received permission from the land owners. I am requesting the cooperation of concerned geocachers to pick up all the containers." Merci à Radio-Canada pour obtenir cette question triés ...
  14. Just delete all but 81 of your finds
  15. Actually I placed a cache on my front lawn - and have found it nearly 4000 times already. Who needs to leave home to go geocaching?! This years goal is to visit my lawn 5 times daily so I can rack up the numbers and overtake the provincial leaderboard!
  16. befriend and offer to drive a GPS-holding geocacher. When they get out of the car and run into the bush FOLLOW! If they ask you to stop following, stop! simple as that
  17. how many emails do you send out a day? Owner notifications, Watchlist postings, Player->Player communiqués... Do you have a rough count?
  18. normally pick a goal cache - something that really interests me for some reason - Then do it first, and cache my way home
  19. The reviewer event is full, but the other 2 are not so much! If someone would like to hold another Apres talk to us! Right now the Fling crew isn't really interfering in the matters of the Apres events
  20. I noticed that a cache I am working on might be considered a "drive-up" - even though the logging roads havent been used in 40 years. That might upset a few people, []
  21. Don't Blame yourself Dave - Blame Henry Ford. He constructed a car of resin stiffened hemp fiber, and even ran the car on ethanol made from hemp... Just like what we all use today to get around Ideas change over time, but it's unlikely Ford could have foreseen the modern world through his ideas. PS - If anyone needs a horse, i know a guy..
  22. Cold Cache was amazing. Take a look at these ones too: GC7C58 - Don't eat the Rhubarb - huge ghost town in Banff GC13PRK - 11th Bridge to Nowhere - Wayne Alberta, Home of the Last Chance Saloon. There are still 3 or 4 people living in town still though
  23. oh ya! almost forgot about that!
  24. just as a common sense reminder - kids pick up on technology faster then adults in most cases
