I like to watch a cache because I like to know what other people think of it. For instance I watched PhilGN's Barrell Makers ramble cache because I got chased by a sniper rifle and wanted to know whether the next people did too....that sort of thing. Also like to see if the next person finds it after I re-hide it so well everytime ;o) Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

quote:i think it depends on what your paying FOR*....if the park or area the cache is in charges to get in then its ok. But if its somewhere where you have to pay money to one certain business then its commerical. (ie- go to bob's coffee house, buy a mocca and ask them for the cache behind the counter) This got me thinking of a cache I had planned for the future a while ago....would it be totally out of the question to go into Dan's work and ask for the micro cache in the eye of the Buffalo Skull behind the bar? At the same time you get to meet Dan and Pid and not only that you don't "HAVE" to buy a drink.....signing the log and leaving is perfectly ok? Who thinks this would be ok? who thinks this is just stoopid? and who thinks I should forget it? Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

HaHa yes yes very funny. Its not nice to be constantly dodging bullets you know. Just glad I am not in Washington right now, The sniper would pin point me from a mile away with tee-shirt on. LoL But yes the Golf clubs need to be there. As does the nightscope...was thinking maybe noose or something aswell. Or as Lassitude would say "An AXE!" Do not know, but do know you can buy a leather case for a garmin etrex, I had one a couple of months ago but placed it into a cache for someone else to use as I didnt make much use of it. They are about 12 quid and you can get them from all good camping stores. Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

Do you really want me to answer this question?. I would say swimmingout to the middle of a lake completly drunk with a GPS and cache in a plastic bag was pretty bad. LoL Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

Now I do not want to put the mockers on a great cache, or make the cache planter look a wally (bit hard not to!) or for that matter advertise in any way a cache...But I have to share lasts night escapades with the geo-caching community because it would be unfair not to! such a classic. Well Dan took me to try out his latest cache yesterday evening, We arrived on situ at around six thirty pm, I started to look around a nearby antenna on top of somewhere very high. I thought the cache was a great one UNTIL........... We saw the lights of a land rover storming up the hillside straight to us, brave as we are we decided not to leg it and subsequently explain our being there, thinking ofcourse we were by no means trespassing but on public land. Out of the Land Rover steps not ONE but TWO!!! Armed Policemen. Shocked I thought they must think we are escaped convicts or something. But NO! He had only planted a cache in the grounds of a certain Prime Minister's country residents! They hadto check our names over the radio to make sure we were not part of Al`Queada and asked of any previous criminal activity. I didnt think I looked like a terrorist I said, he said he knew but had to check it out! I replied with..."The only thing I am armed with is a GPS! Hardly going to cause harm" Dan piped up " and can I just go and get my Lunchbox thats in the hedge over there!" Mr Officer said " Is it a Bomb?" LoL.....After shaking it I think they realised we were just plain crazy and with the weather just asked us to leave. The rifle the policeman had was a bit of a shocker aswell, laser sight on it! So this is the second time we have been chased with Guns, I really must question myself....Am I really sane?? Full respect to the cache planter though, After this "Mishap" he insisted on replanting it in what my eyes is a far far far better location on PUBLIC land. Nice one Dan! Sorry I will insist on tat spelling mistake!!! Its JEREMY! apoligies Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

I have to agree to Jeremie's statement...even though this makes me sound like a complete hypocrite it does kinda override the rule...there has to be a line somewhere guys. That also goes for borders...especially thoughs of the Prime Ministers House! Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

Grrrrrrrrrrrr. LoL. You will be Mr.Hornet....did you see the weather last night? and there we were trapzing round fields of barley in the mist of the dark.....poor us! Mind you its a far cry from Dan's latest effort! Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

Anyone want a lift to the Birmingham cache meet?

Sorry to point out the obvious Manuel but I think poor old Michael would have to drive a little out of his way to come and pick you up in Texas, LoL Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk -
Yeah when we started caching back in February aswell it was extremly cold, especially up Coombe Hill! I am looking foward to alot more of caches like that. Its amazing how much the foliage can change the way the place looks. I remember on Mine and Dan's 3rd attempt at Coombe Hill without a GPS we looked through the foliage of a near by set of then BEAR trees. Upon returning back there with a colleague earlier this summr I was amazed at how much the place had grown! It was like something from a Tarzan movie. Which I guess people planting caches from now onwards should take into consideration, next Summer your cache MAY very well be impossible to find. Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

Its here folks....The season that all cachers are bound to dislike. So how many of us are going into hibernation for the cold season? how many cachers don't intend on caching til next summer now? I know for a fact the winter will be even more fun for me and Dan! ITS PERMINANTLY dark. the cold will add to the challenge aswell. Also on a positive note, Tree cover in the Winter makes caching all the more fun! as its bare. I think we should hold a caching Chrstmas Party somewhere. Didnt log my not found as I didnt make it past the first hurdle....Besides I havnt givn up on it yet! 5 Star difficulty caches are meant to be over night anyway! Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

LoL. Well theres quite a few cow pats around the alleged hiding place so maybe they got put off caching by the smell. Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

Cheers Guys...Its been a pleasure searching your wonderful caches. Even it has been largely in the dark with no torch...hehe. Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

No really this want meant as advertising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was seriously asking a question because Dan planted a cache and I as a "cacher" wanted to know the opinion of everyone else! There should be no crime in that! It only seemed this way because Dan replied straight afterwards! Pid Ben Piddington http://www.buckscaching.co.uk

My supposed cohort has just planted a cache without me present and is wantig me to go and find it! I have given it a go and have found it far too cryptic for my liking. Just wondered of any other cryptic caches around. I aint a fan of them they involve too much thinking in the deep and solving pointless riddles to no avail. In the Aylesbury branch its just at the front with all the mountain biking magazines and stuff...in a sellophane cover with sum huge catalogue on the Wye Valley within it! Thats my pet hate of Magazines,,,,,although if they were all like it then noone could stand and read magazines in Newsagents, because I dont find it annoying I just it really scabby! Incidently theres a useful article on GPS's in the magazine, not that it isnt info you cant get on the net but it was enlightneing to know GPS's do have other uses other than caching. Its amazing to think people do actually use them to navigate there way on walks....LoL...I always knew the routes function on my GPS had a function hehe.
