  1. For info (in case you've not already seen it): 1319679-make-the-favorites-system-for-all-user. Seen it... and it's wrong... but hey what would I know. Useful PM features are now free to iPhone users... yet a rating system (in a very simple form) is to be protected... madness! Yeah it's not like people will become PM's just to fave caches.
  2. Yeah I suppose. Maybe multiple categories is a little bit much, but even just an optional one click 5 star rating on the log page would be pretty cool. I see what you mean about Xbox Live, but I bet most people would go that one extra click when they're filling in a log anyway if they felt strongly that a cache was good or bad. I think at this point in the game it would all depend on how easy that is to do via mobile device. One of the other problems with the favourite system is that it isn't easy to see how many Fave Points a cache has on the (certainly the android) app. And you need to log into the website to add Fave Points to the caches as well.
  3. The new guidelines are only for caches bigger than micros. Or rather anything bigger than a micro needs to have the GC code and be clear. As I understand it.
  4. I'm not sure any of this would really work. For starters I wouldn't really be interested in filling in a survey for every cache that i've found. I'm a relatively conscientious logger. Given that it is currently an issue getting people to fill in anything I can't see that working. Also cache quality is kindof a personal thing. I really like finding 35mm film pots. It doesn't mean that I don't appreciate a beautifully crafted cache. An optional 5* rating system for caches might be worthwile. But all my mates would get an automatic 5* rating and most others would likly get nothing. It's a bit like the 5* system on xbox live (other social gaming systems are available). It should tell you if the person is an idiot but in reality it just says that they have a number of friends (I should know I have 5* ).
  5. Manufactured, no... They're not a spice girls/monkees.... They just do things differently. And spacemonkeyz was one word! Actually I have seen it written as Space Monkeyz. So you were right with the spelling. But Pajaholic gets the ding. 2002 album Laika come home referencing the first animal in space. Russian dog Laika (also the first animal to die in orbit). The title was also a play on the Film title Lassie come Home.
  6. Page 135 just 2 posts too late Gorillaz Gorillaz were the remixed band. But who did the remixing?
  7. Ok time for a tenuous link. The first animal to orbit the earth was called something. And in 2002 a band released a remix album referencing this animal and urging them to come home. What was the name of that band?
  8. I would laugh if this was the post that pushes this thread onto page 135 as that's the number you are looking for.
  9. Yes. Apparently Happy Humphrey drags a cache behind his helicopter as you sprint after it on your bike; GCYOUGOTNOCHANCEOFCATCHINGHIM. lol
  10. As it's the British Grand Prix at my local racing circuit this weekend, a related question would seem to be in order. The first ever "Formula One" Grand Prix was held at Silverstone in 1950. It was won by Giuseppe 'Nino' Farina but what make of car was he driving? A bugatti?
  11. Just wondering are there any caches related to sprint cyclist Mark Cavendish who is from the Isle of Man.
  12. Even 1% would become unmanageable eventually. certainly wouldn't be able to manage 200 hides. So if I had 20,000+ finds (something recently achieved by Dr Solly) i'd have also aquired the fulltime job of hiding and managing that many hides. In fact i'd be more for a maximum of 5% finds/hides ratio and no hides with under 100 finds.
  13. I've never had the 'pleasure' of that kind of find. Do they real exist or are they just a part of caching folklaw?
  14. I was just on holiday in that part of Wales. These were the standout caches for the area We stayed just to the east of the National Park so several aren't actually within the Park itself.. Preseli Top is good. Though the walk is a lungburster. Hole in a hole is lovely and only a short and lovely walk from Preseli Top I spy (the hangman) is an awesome night cache. If you like neolithic stones then Pentre Ifan is worth a look. Waterfall Wonder is in a beautiful location (and they have a rope swing).
  15. Ding. Sorry Pajaholic I think you talked yourself out of that one. Wasn't sure it'd work 8 times... But longest word I could think of that worked 3 times! Question: Bat For Lashes is a solo performer, who's real name I won't mention. Her cousin is considered by many to be the best in the world ever at his sport... Name the uncle. I'll take a stab at Tiger Woods
  16. Ding. Sorry Pajaholic I think you talked yourself out of that one.
  17. lol The longest sentence with only one word (where a 'word' is defined as a sequence of letters disregarding semantics and capitalization) in the American language concerns buffalo (the animals) of Buffalo (the city) who buffalo (i.e. bully) other buffalo of Buffalo, who are themselves buffaloed by yet more buffalo of Buffalo. This gives us the sentence, "Buffalo buffalo, Buffalo buffalo buffalo, buffalo Buffalo buffalo." Note the parenthetical brace of commas - the sentence would be two characters shorter (and a couple of technical writers' forums a few threads fewer) without them. Unfortunately, 'buffalo' doesn't mean 'to bully' in English (it only means that in American) and so that's not the correct answer! The longest similar sentence in (olde) English - but at least from the correct side of the pond - probably concerns the area around two of my caches ('Thanckes for the memories' and 'Thanckes Again'). For info, "Thanckes thanckes" are the oil storage containers at the RN fuel depot at (50.3829, -4.2064). So we might consider some thanckes (pronounced 'tanks' and meaning large storage containers) of Thanckes (the area around my caches) thanckes (i.e. expresses gratitude) to other thanckes of Thanckes, who themselves give thanckes to yet more thanckes of Thanckes. Although that scenario is an anthropomorphism, and so semantically incorrect, it still gives the syntactically correct (and longer than the American bovine-based equivalent), "Thanckes thanckes, Thanckes thanckes thanckes, thanckes Thanckes thanckes!" I've no idea of a single word that can be semantically a noun, proper noun, or a verb in current English and so can't answer your question! Nevertheless your answer is correct. There is no such language as American. However the differences between the language spoken in the UK and the one in the US have lead people to use the term American English to identify the language spoken in the US. However as you correctly state this is found on the UK message board and should make sense in UK english well there is another word that makes a sentence in UK english with as many words.
  18. I have indeed googled this question to see if what I remembered was right... But I have also not submitted an answer to the question... And I wont! Not even confirmed that I'm right yet! So you can rest assured that there will be no forfeit Madame President. If you aren't playing this round NB i'll happily tell you the answer I have if you contact me by email.
  19. What is the longest correct sentence in the english language consisting of only one word (multiple times). And for bonus points explain how it works. Remember no googling. []
  20. Yeah your logs look fine to me. Relevant to the cache being logged and some pertinant info for the CO.
  21. So I was thinking of doing a series based on Bad/Cliche caches. The idea is that the cache would ostensibly be Bad or a Cliche but would be done in a more interesting way. But what are the worst/ most cliched caches out there? I have started a list. 1. The ivy covered tree 2. The really dull area 3. This place is so flytipped we may as well call it landfill 4. What do you mean the co-ordinates are over 100ft out? Oh well find it and tell me the correct co-ordinates. 5. The identical magnetic nano every .1 miles trail. 6. The 'I know there is room for an ammo can here but I just love 35mm film canisters so much.' cache. 7. The multi trunked tree So that's my list. Anyone have any other suggestions?
