  1. So, here we go: I spoke with Elyssa at Coins and Pins. We talked about getting pricing for two coins- a Polished Chrome trackable and a nontrackable coin of a different metal. She's going to work with us on that second metal and creating a clean image for the reverse. Arron removed the pricing from the website, so they have to give us a cost. Elyssa did say that the cost of metals has increased, but not by how much. I have emailed Team Neos photoshopping those images a little more. So we might have something to discuss in depth in a couple of days.
  2. NEWS FLASH! Groundspeak dropped the minimum number of tracking numbers from 500 to 250. That may affect the price of a trackable coin by a bit.
  3. What does that do to the set up costs, if anything? Hope the young ones are feeling bouncy again. Thanks for asking. Solana is back to her old self, Nina is starting to feel better, and even I am feeling like my old self. I left another message for Aaron at Coins and Pins. Unless there have been some changes in prices, we're looking at $4 for nontrackables and between $5-7 for trackables. There's a new coin club starting that is offering trackable and nontrackable versions of the same coin. Their costs are in the ranges I listed above.
  4. I still need Tracy's input on the image. We've been dealing with sick kids, no internet and other nongeocaching issues. How would everyone feel about a trackable coin being available to everyone, and a nontrackable coin available to Indiana residents only?
  5. For those with broadband access, and an appreciation of Photoshopping skills, here is a sample of some harder caches????
  6. Sorry folks, Comcast had us on a three day hiatus. Team Neos, excellent work!
  7. <snip> by the way Ames isn't the cache puzzle center anymore. WHAT!
  8. Perhaps someone who is annoyed by the fact that another person in another country who has only cached for a year or two has found a thousand caches or more while the someone who has cached for five years hasn't found more than 500 or so since the difficulty level is higher in their area. I'm not sure why they'd care unless the numbers really mattered to them. (edited for grammar) So the numbers matter? When we started, there was less than 10 caches in our state and it would have taken us a few days to find them all. We started caching out of state in Minneapolis and Kansas City because there were more caches. We learned our way around Minneapolis-St. Paul and Kansas City one cache trip at a time. I don't have a problem with people who live in places with high cache densities. Especially since there are forest preserves an hour from us that have multiple caches in several. I wouldn't call them lame either. Have you ever tried to go for a high number of caches in one day? My best was 13, took me about 6 hours. Doesn't seem like much but I had a great time doing it. Yep, we did 22 in a day- took us about 12 hours in and around Kansas City. That state we started in was Iowa.

  10. I'm not seeking an intellectual cop-out, but I am curious how someone who has not logged one cache here can speak to cache pollution or the quality of hides. I have never cached down under, only seen pictures of some cache locations, so I would comment on the quality of hides there. Caching here is very diverse, and this is a huge country.
  11. Comcast left us with no cable, or internet access, for three days. Late yesterday, Comcast finally sent someone and he knew what he was doing! Oh, did I mention we got a JEEP today?
  12. You still have two available? If so, count me in please.
  13. Thanks! I had a message in email this morning showing that you grabbed them!
  14. Write your own caption- bad choice for the coin!
  15. Okay, canal images. I was looking for something like these: West Troy, NY
  16. That is not a bad idea. It may a little difficult to control, but not impossible. Definately worth pondering here. To my knowledge the 05 Indiana geocoin was not sold for profit and was going on the premise that this one would not either. Perhaps we need a clear statement from Team Tecmage on this. The goal last year was at cost. I got a little worried when I made the second trip to the post office to mail orders- I thought I underestimated the shipping costs. In the end, I believe I overestimated costs by $15 (total). The goal this year is to sell at cost. Unless you guys want to help pay for that trip to Hawaii next year.
  17. Since most of the v1 coins never made it through Iowa, and Tracy and I never made it out West, I was very happy to get my hands on a v2. While getting a v1 would be nice, I'm very happy with the v2.
  18. Not a bad idea. Maybe do some caching and distribute coins?
  19. Too true! I'm still surprised at some of the prices out there. I admit to buying a couple of .999 Silver coins, but mainly $6-8 coins. I'd like to keep the price down on our coin (again). What is the 2005 coin made of? The silverish one that is. The 05 is Chrome (plated?). Those .999 Silver coins were 05 Alaska LEs. They went to a local mint that does a lot of perious metal coins. I'm a casual collector of American Eagle coins (.999 Silver- the other metals cost too much), and liked the idea of a unique coin. I might break down and get one of these:

  21. We found several caches before placing our first cache. I think cachers need to have several finds before attempting to hide a cache.
  22. I like the idea of using the same reverse. It's a great design and would also help keep the cost down by recycling it. Of course the date will need to be changed, so the die will need to be changed, meaning a new die charge. On the final design, the year is on the reverse. The image above is the first design, and I use it as our avi.
  23. Well, that's a big surprise isn't it? (BTW, there are things in that blog that aren't real family friendly so be careful) I read the entire blog. I must have missed something. Oh, someone left some nice links in the comments.
