  1. Yesterday morning the news here was recommending that passengers put cell phones, PDAs, cameras, etc. into checked baggage. (I'd guess that would include GPSRs). They didn't actually say they were prohibiting them in carry ons thouugh. Perhaps it was an attempt to speed up the very long lines they were experiecning at DIA, and just remove anything that might be questionable at all.
  2. "tit" = woman? Sucks to be your partner, eh?
  3. I don't take it seriously because I see absolutely no evidence of it being accurate.
  4. Thank you! And if I may add- thank you, Tahosa, for all of the wonderful caches you have provided in this area. We've only found one of yours so far, but have several others bookmarked. Lots of great ones put out by you!
  5. Is the mountain's name crude and offensive? Yes. IMO it certainly is. But I don't know that it's inappropriate as a Jeep TB name as they appear to be named after mountains, and, well, that is the name of a mountain.
  6. Whew- no thread is complete without someone complaining about all those awful parents out there. Glad this one didn't miss out.
  7. Anyone know of any caches in Rocky Mountain National Park? I've tried every key word/zip code I can think of, and am not coming up with anything. Thanks for any thoughts!
  8. I'll just quote someone who once said something interesting.
  9. I'd say there seems to be enough people who make the observation that there must be some truth to it. And as a relative "newbie", I will also say this board seems to have far more rude reponses than most boards I've posted at. Too rough a crowd? That's a bit of an exaggeration. But who wants to spend their free time with people being rude to them? I don't see excuses.
  10. I've run into a couple near caches. Only once did someone notice *us* that I'm aware of. My 2 children and I were standing in the area of an elusive micro earlier this summer, when an older couple walked by us on the trail. We tried to look un-suspicious, said hello, they went on their way. A little while later they walked back past us again, and the man said "are you geocaching?" I was surprised he knew what we were doing! He whipped out his GPS, and told me they had found their 800th cache that day. They're my new heroes- they travel the world and geocache in their retirement.
  11. Can't seem to get sig to work. Logged out and back in, and searched for the 2 links mentioned to enable changes- can someone tell me what I need to do, please? Thanks!
  12. We've had a lot of 100+ days this year. It sends us up into the mountains, where it's cooler!
  13. Yes. You need to hold down the click-stick for 3 seconds, until your current location is set as a waypoint. Then edit that waypoint by clicking on it, and changing the latitude/longitude to what you need. You can also edit the name of the waypoint, if necessary. Page 24 of the manual here: http://www.garmin.com/manuals/eTrexLegend_OwnersManual.pdf shows you how to set a waypoint. HTH!
  14. I'd say that probably accomplishes its job. I first became a member because I was hunting though caches in my area and saw one listed I wanted to read more about.
  15. I had my GPS and a couple of trvel bugs in my carry-on bag last month, (also had cell phone, digital camera, camcorder, a gigantic shell- all kinds of stuff that I really thought might get us stopped!)and we were not stopped or anything. I did not try to turn it on during the flight, so no experience there.
  16. We look through the available geocaches and choose ones that mention they have a lot of kid's things in them, or that say they are family friendly. A lot say things like "great park for the kids nearby". Some even mention getting into the vicinity and then handing the GPS to the kids, as they made the find somewhat easy for children. My kids are 6 and 7. We have been geocaching for about a year, and they love it. We try to keep terrain to 3 or lower, and generally do hikes that are a couple of miles each way or less. We can increase as they get older. Have fun with it.
  17. I just did this as well... works like a charm. You can't even tell that the messages are forwarded. So what happens to all the old emails that haven't been received yet? Thanks for that info. I, too, use AOL and have not been receiving emails from GC at all. I also have a Gmail account, but I never think to check it. AOL has been our primary for so many years, and I get it really cheap so I don't want to switch. Sounds like using Gmail and forwarding is the way to go! Editing to add: thank you to the admins for working on the problem!
  18. My husband and I joke that when we used to see a guy lurking in the bushes in a park, we'd think "pervert". Now, of course, we think "geocacher".
