  1. If you're heading for the day and not the night, I'll donate towards gas. I don't drive, so I can't help with that. If you were considering the option of stopping at the Apres should the patio be open, that's fine. I just don't camp.
  2. It isn't going to matter. That sunny, beautiful forecast this morning has changed to a cloudy day tomorrow with a beautiful 80 percent chance of rain. Blech! Not the weather I want to be biking around in the countryside. Sadly, when the weather looked so nice for Sunday, I booked myself for something on Sunday. The next eventless date is June 9th.
  3. Looks like the bad weather will be today & Sunday, with Saturday being an ideal day for a bicycle ride through the quiet countryside. Hope at least one other person shows up. I'll be leaving at 9:00 from the first stage: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...80-638cff9ee250
  4. With the start just over 48 hours away, here's an updated forecast: High of 21 degrees. Mainly sunny with 0 percent chance of rain and just a very slight breeze. If you're definitely coming on Saturday, drop me a PM or e-mail and I'll send you the co-ordinates for all stages of the series.
  5. Long range forecast for Saturday. Mainly sunny. High of 18 with 0 percent chance of rain.

  7. Here's what I heard back from the cache hider concerning the bridges series. Either way, I'm still up for doing the series next weekend as long as the weather is nice. I would like to have some idea of how many others will be coming so I can check out parking. I'll re-search with the coords that were confirmed to look for other caches in the area, as well as in the recommended eating area.
  8. Since we've already had a couple of drop outs, for May 19/20, I'll move it forward to May 26th with a raindate of May 27th. I may take a trial run out there over the next two weeks to look for nearby eateries or to check out the parking situation by the first cache. I made an error in cutting and pasting the list above, so here is the correct final: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...85-e885cb87dda6 I also attempted translations to the puzzle caches - these are other possibilities, as they are less than a kilometer from some of the caches: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...3a-6457a2d45f2a http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...28-5bdd50e797f2 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b1-16ad12e26118 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...e3-71a73966cde0 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...91-9b6b59201f33
  9. If someone else in the K-W area is willing to pick me and my two-wheeler up, I'd be up for that. Getting back to the Waterloo Region bridges tour series, who is in and who is out for either Victoria Day weekend or the week thereafter?
  10. You can have some fun with the LPC. I loved the concept behind this one in Ottawa so much, I set one up down in my neck of the woods. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...90-1d39b09333d3
  11. I've found a couple George themed travel bugs: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=70513 http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=64184 All of the latter owner's travel bugs are wheresgeorge themed.
  12. I'm open to moving it forward a week if need be. Which weekend is better for those interested?
  13. OK. Let's try this. May 19th, the Saturday of Victoria Day weekend, at, say 9:00 AM, at the first stage of the Bridges of Waterloo Country cache. Rain date: May 20th. They are all either micros or small caches, so no swag will be needed, just the GPSs and the bikes. If people solve the puzzles in the last six of the series, send them to me via PM or mail through the site, so we can plan other caches that are likely only a short diversion from the path. 1. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...80-638cff9ee250 2. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...69-b4508bf07fd4 3. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7d-05e2e3757800 4. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6a-846a9cc54f68 5. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...91-6759f519e943 6. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...55-a3f8c73ff228 7. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...55-a3f8c73ff228 Nearby and only 0.28km from the start of the series. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...78-17b429b1c7d8
  14. I heard back from the owner of the country roads series. 100km for the round trip. Looks like either the Bridges Series or the Cambridge->wherever trail.
  15. There seem to be muggle issues already on the Bridges series, so I don't know what is going to happen with that, although replacements are promised. I've dropped the owner of the Country Roads touring series a note about the feasability of biking that one. I guess I'm the organizer via Russian volunteer system for the Waterloo region one.
  16. One time I was walking out of a subdivision into the small woodlot in question, only to find myself behind a Senior Public (obUSA: Junior High) school. I hoped it would be a quick stop, but then the bell went off to signal class changes, and there were several hundred students going between the various buildings and portables, all while I am tromping through a snowy woodlot. I half expected Chris Hansen to pop out and wonder what I was doing there. As for the drugs, today in Ottawa I had a muggle ask about geocaching, then admit he checked the container to see what was in it, only to be more puzzled, but somewhat relieved.
  17. If you decide on the Bridges one I posted, any weekend is good, weather permitting (I really dislike cycling in the rain, more for the safety factor than any sort of wetness issue) I'll be there. This is another series in the Waterloo area that has many country stops, although I'm not sure how bicycle friendly it is. Again, pick a date, and I'll be there. June 10 is the only NO date for me. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...b7-32a886554f3d
  18. I set up a rail trail cache a couple weeks ago, and a bookmark list that includes it and other caches along the trail between Camridge and Paris. A very flat trail with a couple nice lookout areas, and very little crossing of major roads. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...bf-8ee6050ca831 The trail continues on into and through Brantford after Paris alond the SC Johnson trail. (about 14km) and the Gordon Glaves memorial pathway (12km) with another 32km into Hamilton. I only know of the Cambridge to Paris portion, but I'd love to go the entire way, but would likely need a lift back to Cambridge to catch the bus if it went all the way to Hamilton. I have a brochure about the trail I picked up while setting up the cache. I could try and scan it. There's also some bicycle caches north of Waterloo. This series of 8 just showed up this week. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...80-638cff9ee250
  19. I'm from K-W, and as a non-driver, I'm always looking for anybody willing to head out town for a cache or 20. If you want to meet the locals, you could try going to the CITO event on Saturday. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...af-75b9d1d4548f
  20. I got this one yesterday (GCYT33): I think I would have fled as well if I were partaking in what was described and people approached carrying unknown electronic devices.
  21. I guess I should have said something about the labyrinth-like qualities of that woodlot.
  22. I'd be interested in joining in. Especially if someone is driving out of or through the K-W area and would like a gas/coffee donation. Otherwise, I'd find my way to Oshawa, spend the night in a motel, and make my way either by cab or generous geocacher to the starting gate. I won't commit to/cancel out any specific weekend though. Such is the nature of being a temp.
  23. Toronto Island's Ghostcache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...32-77c233756935 And the story of the lighthouse and the supposed ghost. http://archives.cbc.ca/IDC-1-69-358-1954/l...halloween/clip1
  24. Here's another huge one. I spotted it from about 300m away. And yup, you can actually see it on google maps. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...7a-1f41eaf03a12
  25. I had one that was archived because the hider seemingly got upset at the proliferation of micros in the area. Does that count?
