  1. got a good handful of people that have joined so far (I think 10) with 11 more days to go! Keep 'em coming. The more the merrier! Can't wait to see how many folks we get, and how creative our geocoin community can be. :drama:

  2. Haven't posted photo's in a bit. Got a handful of both trackable and non-trackable coins in the mail last month.

Coins on the left are non-trackable, coins on the right are trackable.

  3. I have not gotten my package yet.. so I'd be sad to close this thread when it's not complete for everyone yet.

And in case you were thinking of starting another mission (thanks so much for organizing this one by the way) and were taking a look at the missions that were already running: this one is not complete, there's the kitchen sink mission that's not done yet, and I just started a new mission recently that I'm taking names for till the 24th. (Coin Spotlight Mission)

  4. I would love to do a cointest where I have my dog that does retrieving and loves toys, balls, treats, and chewies make the choice on who wins!

I'd pick a variety of things and list them in the first post.I'd have everyone guess which item she'd go pick when told to go take something (no direction, just free go play and take something) I'm guessing I could come up with 30 items so 30 people could participate. One person per item, first person to pick the item would get that item as their cointest guess.

After all items were picked by someone I'd pick a night and time and put them in the middle of the ring that we train in. I'd post the link to the live feed webcam of the facility and the ring that we'd be in and the time we'd be there so everyone could watch live as she picked the winner.

I'd also video record her choice and post it for those who couldn't watch the life feed. Could be fun!!

  5. Excellent coin!

About every 6 months we start looking at dogs. Everyone in the family wants to get a dog and Shelties are our top pic. But we can never make the money work out.

Have you contacted someone in rescue? That might be an option for you.

Or an older puppy/young adult from a breeder. A lot of times sheltie breeders will grow out puppies and they don't get big enough or go over and then look to place them in a great pet home.. sometimes at a lower price if they find the right home. (there's a height requirement for the breed ring- 13-16 inches.)

My lovely Personal Coin- Sorella Shelties & Aussies: Dawn Edition. Only made two. Keeping the gold version, put the silver in the math trade. Finally got a chance to scan it! Thanks for letting me share!

(The picture is very sharp on the actual coin. Scan makes it look a bit more pixelated.)

  7. Here are pictures of the AE version. I wanted to wait until Vanelle got hers, and she should have gotten it by now. This coin was designed right after GCF, because Vanelle kept cracking me up by commenting on my "effing cat coins". So this is the "effin' cats" version. :)

    And with the lights off...

Each side has different graffiti, but it's of the same nature. ;)

:D:D:DHi all, I just wanted to say that I got a nice little package from Anne right on Christmas Eve! How is that for timing!:D:D:D

Of course I love it, we'll just say I'm not a big fan of cats<_< so this is the perfect version for me:lol:

Thanks so much Anne, I love it!

Love this version.. especially since my husband's devil cat has caused nerve damage to my hand... and my dogs are saints.. <_<

  8. Greetings - Do you have a timeline for this mission? My schedule is a little complicated at the moment and joining sort of depends on timeline... (And apologies if it is up there and I missed it...)

    4. Will take names till June 24 and have names out to everyone by the end of June.

Sent you a PM as well. This is the thought process on the time line (posted above)

  9. And yet another was the cointest that remembers someone who has passed that made an impact on your life.. (for example my grandma who lived with us died when I was 7 of lung cancer and I'd never go near a "fire stick" because of her! I think of her every time I encounter someone in my health care profession now that has smoking related illness and how she gave me the gift of never having to go through that personally with her loss....)

  10. This will be my first mission, so wish me luck! I assume it's ok for UK people to join?

I don't have a wish list, I prefer surprises. Geekiness is good, so coins with moving parts, or just something very shiny to appeal to my ADHD would be appreciated :) I'm thinking of doing something locality based.

So, a couple of questions, what do I need to know about putting a mission together? Do they have a typical value of stuff in them?

Creativity is more important then monetary value in this mission. The only rule is that one coin should be unactivated and the mission should be based around that particular coin. Find/Buy/Make things that fit with the theme of that coin. (remember to include one activated trackable in addition to the "STAR" coin as well)

You may include more then one coin that is unactivated if you wish, but it is not required. Often people do include more then the required coins in missions but if the mission is cohesive, creative and thoughtful then the one coin and one trackable that is activated is just fine!

A good rule of thumb in my opinion when your done picking out items is to look at your mission before you send it and ask yourself if you'd be happy to get this package in the mail. B)

Also you can take a look at photo's in other missions to get an idea of what people send/spend.

  11. What is a "mission?'

A mission is a fun exchange between a group of fellow coin collectors. You get a name of someone and someone gets your name.

You then pick out a coin or coins that you think they might like and in this case purchase/make/find items that fit the theme of that coin to package with it and send to the other person. Someone else does the same thing for you and you get a package in the mail as well. It's very much like a secret santa exchange only with geocoins, and any time of the year!

Other missions have different themes. There's one going on where you got sent a box and could fill it with any thing (call the kitchen sink mission). There's been pet missions (you had to send pet related items with your coin/s). There's been KISS missions (a coin and a nice card.. keep it simple)

    Hope that helps!
