  1. There used to be an option for changing one's caching name. This capability seems to exist no longer. Is this temporary or permanent? Our family's caching name (SPnZ) stands for our first names (Scott, Paula and Zander). 11 Months ago, Hunter joined the family, and we want to update the name to reflect this. I would hate to have to drop the account (we cant actually delete accounts can we?) and re"Find" all of our prior finds over the past 3 years to get our new account back up to date. Please let me know this is a temporary measure, or an oversight on my part. Thanks, -S.
  2. The number after the - is a sequence number. Many coins are stamped this way. Darned confusing if you ask me (which no one did...) -S.
  3. Coin #250 arrived in port today. Thhanks again for a fantastic game and a wonderful motivator to get together with other cachers!
  4. Georgia coins are also at http://www.geocoinclub.com/code.php
  5. For any who were interested, the Cache-U-Nuts were true to form to the end and offered a creative and wholly satisfying solution which pleased both my family and STBK's. Once again, I would like to express my thanks and ever deepening appreciation for Craig and Georgia (and 3 sheets 2 the wind, wherever he got off to...) who personally embody the goodwill and kindness which the geocaching community as a whole has shown my family time and again. Thanks!
  6. According to the rules posted on the coinquest homepage, "Winners names will be listed automatically on the "Coin Winners" page according to the time the correct phrase is entered." I'm gonna mail Cacheunuts directly. I'm sure this will get worked out fairly. -S.
  7. They must be working on the site. The reason I believed that I was #251 was that After I logged my final comments, I saw the number of winners at 251. I checked and found to my dismay that I had been listed as winner #251. A few minutes later, winner#252 was listed. Now the site only lists the top 250 winners. A friend also pointed me at the curious sequence of events in the activity log which does seem to indicate that I made coin#250 by 15 seconds. I would hate to be penalized for taking my time making my final comments! Of course, anyone could expect that the last couple to log would have a photo finish. Compound this with the server problems overnight, and I suspect that there is some analysis going on to make sure that the line gets drawn in the proper place. I sure would like to get coin#250 if I made it, but again, if not, we had fun all the same. Thanks, -S.
  8. Could be. It never said *what* coin I would receive, tho. It may not be a coinquest coin at all, and rather something like "cache-u-nutz's magic toenail" coin or somesuch. We'll have to wait and see... Either way, it was a great time, and all thanks to cache-u-nutz for putting this together, bankrolling the entire thing, and putting up with server and Hosting/Colo company problems inorder to simply entertain the community! BTW, I am a Senior Network Engineer for a leading colo company (remember Exodus...?) so if you want to move shop, I can help... -S.
  9. Well, I logged my event cache last night, but the site was down (same for me as for others) when I went to claim my booty. Logging this AM, I made a small mistake. There were 249 winners when I logged my final. Upon entering the phrase, I got a screen which said "Congratulations! You WILL receive a coin". Knowing there were only 250 available, I assumed I had made it in under the wire for the last coin. Checking the leader board, however, showed that I was seconds behind another who grabbed 250 first. And so the question. Are there plans to hand out more coins given the problems we have had logging, or is it done, and I was the first to miss out? I know the congrats page said I would get a coin, but am curious exactly *what* coin I would receive! Thanks for an amazing time anyway! -S.
  10. "Less than no skill making icons".... Hmmm..... Try NOT making an icon... See if you wind up with a good one! But seriously. What do you want it to look like? What does the coin look like? I'd love to take a stab at it but would want some kind of direction to begin.
  11. Would a cache in the Theodore's Walk series (GCR7NK, GCR7N9, GCR7M1, GCR7MX) count toward the dog requirement? The series is dedicated to the daily walk the owner takes with her Bassett Hound Theodore. I believe it would, but do not want to loose my place if you do not and pull it. Please let me know. Thanks, -S.
  12. Sorry to add to the confusion here. I mailed this to your geocaching profile email and have received no response. I guess you must be busy doing something... In regards to the dog cache requirement. There is a series in my area called the Theodore's walk series. The cache titles are "Theodore's Walk:<something>" with <something> being a unique name for each member of the 4 part series. The owner was not listed as a dog, but the entire series is dedicated to the placer's dog and covers the path she takes her dog for his daily walk. Would one of these qualify for this requirement? Thanks, -S.
  13. A couple of questions: Do CITO events count as event caches for your purposes? They are listed as a separate type (with separate icon) on geocaching.com. I have seen this question alsek already but have not seen a response. In regard to the 3 digit match category... Many puzzle caches use coords like this for the false location when posting the cache. Do these qualify for 3 digit finds? We're playing... -S.
  14. Dunno if this has been posted, but ebay and geocoins seems like separating a fool from their money. Case in point... I just bought 3 greenman coins from geocachetreasure.com. They are individually numbered, not trackable, but come with a 'certificate of authenticity'. They are beautiful coins. There are 3 ebay auctions going on currently for these coins. All have multiple bidders, and the coins are going for $8.50, $13.00 and $37.00 each. They are still available new from the manufacturer for $8.00 each. What is wrong with people? This makes me want to go into reselling these things. Making $30 profit per coin is not bad... -S.
  15. just got mine. The bronze is nice. The silver coin looks placticy. Mebbe it'll age well.

    Coin Icons

Does anyone know how the sale of icons work? I (like the rest of the world, it seems) am minting a personal geocoin. I would like it to have its own icon. Is this a purchasable option, or am I relegated to the same old generic 'personal geocoin' caption/logo that everyone else uses? How should I contact Groundspeak to get this process kicked off? Thanks, -S.
  17. I think Camp Explorer mentioned that he decided against using GC numbering. I am having 100 personal coins minted and am looking for others to go in with on a run of 500. Please email me (see profile) if you want to go in with me on a lot. Thanks, -S.
