  1. Thanks everyone for the advise! Now I'm really looking forward to our vacation!
  2. We're leaving for a Caribbean cruise next month. Is there anything I need to do to my GPS to make it work on the other side of the country? My husband tried using it while he was in Hong Kong and couldn't get reception - something maybe about we have a North America GPS or something? We're using a Garmin GPSmap 60C Thanks for any help and advise! D of JDAKJ
  3. I like both. When I'm caching by myself, I use the PDA. When I'm out with the kids, I like paper. That way I give them the entire stack and let them choose which cache they want to find - seems to keep them more interested and I get to cache longer. d of Jdakj
  4. There are currently 5 of us caching under our account - me, my husband, 14 and 11 yo daughters, and 2 yo son. Originally I thought we would all always go out together, but since we're all so busy it doesn't always work that way. I've thought about setting up accounts for all of us individually but mostly for me as I cache on my lunch hour quite often just by myself. So I guess my questions are: When we're all out together, should we all write our names in the logbook? If I want to go back and create separate accounts and retro-log them for hubby and the kids - do I need to put something on their account log so people won't look at the cache log and not see their names and then it won't be counted? Thanks for all the help & great advise!! d of Jdakj
  5. Here's where I live: Morgan Hill, CA (Zip 95037) 6026 caches within 100 miles... I think I've only found like 15 of them so far....6011 to go
  6. My three love to go as well (13, 11 & 2). The hardest part is keeping the littlest one from shouting out about the "treasure". He's the chatterbox in the group! My 11 year-old is the best by far - I swear she has eagle eyes. While I'm looking at the GPS and trying to get close to where the cache is, she usually shouts out "I found it"! All three of them definately love the swag, but enjoy the clever micros we have found as well.
  7. Thanks everyone for the help. I was able to fix one which I dropped on Saturday. Gonna try and work on the other one. I appreciate all the help!! Jdakj
  8. I have the same problem with 2 of my TBs. There is no option on the TB page though to "drop" it anywhere. The only option I have is to post a message. Help!! Thanks!! Jdakj
  9. Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I'm going to go ahead with my original plan of the 60c. Sounds like the best bet and $$ for my family.
  10. at dealtime.com - I did a compare of the 60c and 60cs. for the 60c included software/maps = City Navigation Maps, North America Maps. for the 60cs = Marine Cartography, City Navigation Maps, North America Maps, Europe Maps, Australia Maps, USA TOPO, South Africa Maps, South America Maps, Middle East Maps, Asia Maps everything else was pretty similar except they list the 60cs as having a fishing calculator as well.
  11. Since I'm a first time buyer of a GPS, I've been comparing the 60c and 60cs. Initially I decided on the 60c, but in comparing it to the 60cs, I see the cs comes with Europe maps, Australia maps, etc. What is involved in getting these on the 60c? Just downloading? Do they cost additional $$$? We are planning on traveling to Europe so it worth paying the $50 bucks extra and already have them installed? Thanks for the help!!
