  1. Apple needs more reviewers. I wonder how I could go about becoming one?
  2. When you submitted the cache, you checked a box that said you read (and understood!) the guidelines*. It would have looked like this: Reading and understanding them would have prevented a lot of unnecessary frustration, so your hate shouldn't be directed toward the reviewer who was doing what they were supposed to. It's frustrating for you that your cache can't be published, but also frustrating for the reviewer who can't publish it because we enjoy finding them as much as anyone. Do yourself a favor and work with your reviewer from this point forward. It makes it a lot easier for everyone. (*If you were using TAR's computer, all bets are off! Those scripts are helpful, but sometimes too helpful!)
  3. I kinda thought it was "our" sandbox. The forums are owned and run by Groundspeak, who also makes the guidelines (enforced by the moderators) that are linked to at the top of every page. The requests have been clear on what this thread is for, so please keep it in that direction. HINT: Vg'f abg nobhg nal ncc bgure guna gur Trbpnpuvat ncc fhozvggrq ol Tebhaqfcrnx. EXCELLENT!
  4. Again, this thread is an announcement of the new Geocaching app, not a discussion of the various apps available for iPhone. Again, to quote MissJenn: Continued off-topic discussion in this thread may (and likely will) lead to limited use of the forums for a bit.

    Pocket Query?

Moving over to the website forum.
  6. That's a common misconception about a "buried" cache. It does not have to be completely covered by ground to be buried. The fact that a shovel or pointy object was used to submerge the container means it's buried and a guidelines violation.
  7. Many creative things can be done outside the guidelines. Again, the series you linked to is over 5 years old, so things are bound to change. You could link to a virtual or locationless cache, but it still won't get published. The multi-cache guidelines state that the posted coordinates are for the first stage. I'm not arguing that the cache series you referenced was okay in 2003 (I wasn't a reviewer then, though I was caching), but it's not a good example to direct a new cacher to when caches set up like that don't meet current guidelines, which is what their cache submission will be reviewed in accordance with. What the OP needs to do, based on what they've stated as their idea for a cache, is submit ONE listing, with the posted coordinates as the first container (or a plaque or whatever if the situation warrants it), and include additional waypoints for each of the additional stages, including the final. Hope that clears up any confusion.
  8. How many containers are there? There are three final containers. Two of the final containers serve as the first waypoint for the next final in the series. If you go to Uno, and get coords to one single container which is called Dos, which then has coords for one single container called Tres, that's a SINGLE multi-cache, with 3 stages. Dos, from what it sounds like, is a bonus cache for finding Uno, and would be a mystery cache. Tres is a bonus cache for finding Uno and then Dos, and would also be listed as a mystery cache since you cannot find it without finding the other two. As I said before, older caches like those are bad examples to use as far as how to set up a multi-cache today.
  9. A few suggestions: You'll need to archive the old listing before submitting the new one. I'd suggest using a new date (the date of the cache change) rather than the old one. This helps avoid confusion from past finders wondering about the date at the top of the page. Quiggle
  10. Go to the main geocaching.com page, and choose the "Hide & Seek a Cache" link on the left. Be sure to read the guidelines (linked on that page) carefully, fill out the form completely, and provide a note to your reviewer with answers to any questions you think they may ask. That should get you started, and your reviewer can take it from there.
  11. You can make the first one a traditional and the next two multicaches like these. Those aren't a multi-cache, those are traditionals that just happen to be a series. If you go to cache A and it's got coords for cache B, that's a multi-cache, listed as ONE cache. I know there are a couple around here that were listed as multi although there's one container, just because it's a series. But that's not the way it is supposed to be. The caches you referenced are a bad example as they're old and guidelines have changed over the years.
  12. Since the forum burped and ate the OP's post, I'll use that as an opportunity to direct you to a previous thread.
  13. For those that missed it, I'm quoting MissJenn's reminder that this topic is about the Geocaching application that Groundspeak has submitted to Apple. The thread is not about other applications for iPhone, iPod Touch, Windows Mobile, Google Android, etc. Thank you.
  14. It's been in place for a while now. Your WI reviewers aren't likely to be publishing them, so they may be older caches. If you have any samples, I suggest letting them know so they can make sure everyone is on the same playing field.
  15. One thing I don't see mentioned here, which could hold up the cache in the review queue no matter what technique is used, is to make sure GPS is an integral part of the hunt. Do not make your starting point (ie the posted coords on the page) for the parking lot. Let the cacher use their GPS to navigate the trail to the starting point, and then feel free to let them use their flashlight. If you use just the parking spot for the posted coords, there's no GPS use and that's not a geocache.
  16. You can no longer require a new cache be hidden to fulfill a requirement for your cache.
  17. The first post in the thread explains this: "It also works with the iPod Touch and first gen iPhone though you will need WiFi for the Touch and the compass won't work on the first generation iPhone (naturally)." Hope that helps.
  18. It doesn't show up active in the queue, however it can still be seen for proximity checks on other caches (thus holding your spot for you!). The cache is alive in the system once you fill it out and submit it. The checkbox pretty much determines whether or not it shows up in the queue to be reviewed or resides dormant on your account.
