  1. I have a garmin etrex vista c with mapsource v7. I can only download one route at a time to my gps. To download another route, I have to delete the first. The vista c is suppose to be able to store 50 routes. Any idea what might be the problem?
  2. Do you mean the standard Trip and Waypoint Manager CD. I installed it before trying to install City Select v6.
  3. When I try to install Garmin's City Select v6 from the setup.exe file on disc 1 I get an error message that says "please start this data CD install from the setup CD." Does anyone know what it is talking about?
  4. I have an etrex vista c. I originally used the trip and waypoint manager software that came with the unit. You can get it from Garmin for about $30. It will allow you to download mapping and routing to your GPS. However, it is not a detailed map. I bought the more detailed City Select v. 6 and am very happy with it. If you also want to download cache coordinates from geocaching.com then you can download Easy GPS for free.
  5. I've read books that recommend bringing along a conventional compass (non-battery powered) especially when hiking off the beaten path. Does anyone use one and if so, how does it help you? Isn't a GPSr enough?
  6. When you set up the USB interface does it have a Vista C listed. If not you may have to tel it your unit is a 60C even though it is not to get the USB transfer. Impalabob, thanks for the tip. No vista c is listed. Can you tell me how to tell it that it is a 60c? Specific steps would be most helpful.
  7. I just installed City Select v6 North America. Whenever I try to download a map to my Garmin etrex vista c I get a can't find gpsr message. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the USB driver but still not luck. Prior to installing City Select I was able to down load waypoints via easy gps. Anyone have ideas on how to get City Select to download?
  8. I'm a nooby to gps and am trying to learn everything from the beginning. Can someone explain to me the tracks and routes features. When do you use them and how do you set them up? When do you use one over the other? The manual is not very clear to me and seems to be written by a technogeek with a chinese to english translation problem. Thanks for helping someone brand new to the sport.
